[ID: bugs bunny meme reading “I wish all aromantics a very normal tuesday”.]
happy tuesday <33
October 14, 1977, Anita Bryant is pied for her antigay bigotry at a press conference in Des Moines, IA.
It was 40 years ago today…
Never gets old.
40 years on and it still is gratifying
Anita’s still alive and kicking and being anti-gay. Thom Higgins, who threw the pie when he was 27 – and was poetically from Beaver Dam – passed away 17 years later at 44. Info on his life is here. The pie throwing was a big deal. In an age before the internet let gays feel connected, and long before ACT UP, the pie showed small pockets of gays that we could fight back.
it showed that gays were human beings, who might be in the room with you, that you had been accepting as being equals and treating as people. you didnt suspect them as bieng gay, why should you treat them different after? do they become less human after finding out? i mean, its almost like you just found out they have an oppinion on your bullshit
She was “pied” on TV. All across the country, people got to see proof that the LGBT community weren’t going to just sit there and take it. People who thought they had no choice but to stay silent saw a horrible woman get humiliated on live TV.
One of the best moments in television history.
“Do you know who’s here? Do you know who saw you do that? Do you know who saw you do that? This man is from Rolling Stone magazine. Do you know what kind of publicity you’re going to get?”
What, you think you pied her in front of a zillion cameras because he didn’t want publicity?

I want the stereotypical coming out narrative, but for aromantics! Give me novels, give me comics, give it to me on the big screen, give me TV shows, give me podcasts; at this point, literally give me anything.
the aromantic urge to romanticise existence
I love you QPRs, I love you polyamory, I love you relationship anarchy, I love you aromantics with partners, I love you people who don’t want relationships, I love you I admire you loveless community, I love you ignoring amatonormativity <3
I want aromanticism in academia. I want essays on aromanticism. I want scientific studies. I want aromanticism as a literary lens to analyze shakespeare, baewolf, bronte. I want thinkpieces, and cross-discipline analysis, and historical archives. I want more than we have!!!!
Couldn't find aromantic version of charlie's wallpaper so i made my own + also i made no romo wallpaper as bonus

#one weird counterintuitive aspect of being asexual #is that im more open to kinky or weird shit #im not HAVING kinky or weird sex it's all theoretical
Hey @rosierugosa I hope it’s okay that I stole your tags because YES.
Because sexual desire is so weird and alien to me, personally, I find myself more accepting of weird and alien sex: I’m definitely not a monsterfucker in that I don’t wanna fuck the monster, but I fully accept and respect all monsterfucking because hey, sex in general -- straight, gay, or otherwise! -- is already so weird to me. Wanting to fuck Chad McDude down the street is just as strange to me as wanting to fuck the mothman. So my attitude is...go for it, I guess! Here’s a water bottle.
*pulls a water bottle from the cooler*
I never thought of it that way, but yeah. As a teen I was mystified at how anyone would just want to have sex with someone, like that was the goal. I understood getting off, sure, but to want to with the guy in chem class because he’s hot? Weird.
*hands over the water bottle*
Anyway, to each their own.
*gets out some orange slices*
And like, reducing hypersexuality in the queer community is an important conversation. We are more than our sexualities, all of us! Asexuals know that better than anyone. As such we should absolutely have spaces in our community where sex is de-emphasized. But for many people in the world sex is a natural part of their lives and what has, in the past, set the queer community apart is frank and open discussion of sexuality instead of shame. We should be trying to help the straight world adopt that frank openness instead of trying to assimilate into shame.
*restocks the lube counter*
*shows up 15 minutes late with a cooler full of gatorade*
Also don't forget about sex neutral and sex favorable asexuals! Asexuality, like most things, is a spectrum, and we tend to get left out of discussions regarding asexuality or boiled down to gotchas regarding ace people being in relationships with non-asexuals, but we exist and aren't any less asexual because of our decision(whatever the reasoning behind it may be) to have sex!
We are also just as tired of asexuality being used as a scapegoat for attacking kink in the queer community, since that attitude not only is bigoted bs, but it hinges on the assumption that ace people who have and enjoy sex just don't exist, which, news flash, we do!
Plus a lot of us are very kinky, just sayin', so when you support sex and kink as a natural part of the queer experience you're not just helping your fellow queer allosexuals, you're helping people within the asexual community as well!
Anyway there really are tons of reasons ace people understand why we shouldn't police what people do in the bedroom, and ace people across the spectrum don't want to nor should be used as a cover for anti-kink bullshit. It hurts us just as much as it hurts everyone else.

This is why aliens don’t want us in their Starfleet.
Are you fucking kidding this is why aliens should be begging us to join their Starfleet. The precision?? The CONTROL?? The absolute mastery this driver has over their 20+ ton of steel is superhuman. This person could weave a mothership through an asteroid belt without making a single scratch on the hull. Foh “aliens don’t want us” aliens should be sucking our dicks.
Always reblog this !
my chemical aromance
being aro unlocks fun experiences, such as:
coaches don't play but for romantic advice
poking at the motivations of alloros relationship choices with a stick
italicized oh but it's when you realize that experiencing the same attraction levels to all genders does not, in fact, mean you experience attraction to any of them
what the fuck is happening, why are all of my peers suddenly trying to date each other / me, adult version: getting married
hehe 💚 (or 💛, we don't judge)
hearing everything about love/relationships constantly being associated as romantic, not relating to things because of that, and getting yelled at that of course this applies to friends / objects / pets / family. the posts do not become more relatable.
frog!!!
seeing "love is love 😘" and becoming the Ron Swanson meme, "I know more than you do" (like seriously... if previously queerphobic ppl need queer ppl to demonstrate enough relatability to accept us... not sure that's acceptance, buddy)
romance exhaustion
alloros: no fear. aros telling them that romance doesn't have to be everyone's end goal: one fear.
