I unsurprisingly have more than one answer for this

My first answer would be Nights: Journey of Dreams. I got it when my great aunt took me, and my older brother to pick out a video game for each of us as a gift. (I don't remember what he picked it probably wasn't that cool.) I got it home started playing it, super intrigued, super enjoying the experience. Anyways one of my brothers (I can't remember which) watched me play it and started having nightmares about the main villain. Which made my mom decide it was probably too scary for a 9 to 10 year old aka me, so she made me stop playing, telling me I could play it when I got older. But alas it was lost (or possibly sold) at some point during our multiple moves over the years.

My other answer is Omori because I started playing it absolutely adored it, had multiple massive health flare ups. And now it's been almost a half a year and I still haven't gotten up the energy to finish it despite really REALLY wanting to. I was on such an intense moment as well.

Depends on a lot of variables some being, how annoying is the tutorial, how much patience do I currently have, is this the type of game where I believe the tutorial is necessary, do I already pretty much know how to play this game, does the tutorial have story beats, etc. For the most part though I do try and play through tutorials if only because I'm worried I'll regret it if I don't 🤷

Oh definitely Undertale (again it feels like a basic answer, but it is absolutely the truth) I will forever be reminded of my preteen/early teen years whenever I think of undertale, but in a good way. Whereas when I just think of those years without specifically being reminded of undertale it's a lot more negative. Like many people the story of undertale was a huge encouragement to me, and I really needed that then. Sometimes I still do now. It also in a way helped me find community, it was an initial bonding point between me and my now best friend of many many years.

Probably Animal Crossing New Horizons, it's me, the various cranky villagers that all remind me of my late great-grandfather, and my nearly full aquarium despite never doing any terraforming or even laying paths what can I say I love to fish, against the world.

If not ACNH then probably Pokemon Arceus cuz I love to shiny hunt in it, though honestly I love (&hate) shiny hunting in most Pokemon games.

Again not to be Tumblr Generic™ but, I feel like Undertale is going to have to be my answer to that. (Undertale spoilers below)

The plot twist of the character you name is not the character you play as, as well as Flowey being Asriel, both really got to me. As well as the reveal of the whole saving and loading mechanic. I was gobsmacked.

This may seem like a sort of generic answer (it feels like it's one of tumblrs go to's) but I'm going to have to go undertale. Whether you're going by the demo being the opening, or just that first conversation/interaction with flowey it really sets you up for what you're about to get into. And it's a classic at this point.

I've been having an absolutely crummy day. I had an allergic reaction to a new medicine (that caused full body tremors that I will be feeling tomorrow), I'm still sick with the sinus infection the meds were for (that I've had for over a month and a half), this is the second allergic reaction I've had bc of meds for this sinus infection (the first one was two days ago) (I just started recuperating).

All this it say I was in desperate need of some comfort (specifically in the form of a mostly episodic, highly formulaic, easy to digest, TV show)

And so there I was partially zoned out watching one more episode before I go to bed (I was in the middle of that episode) (I'm not a fan of loose ends). When ALL of the freaking sudden they KILL OFF ONE OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS!!!! NO WARNING!!!! WITH A BULLET RHEW THE FREAKING HEAD!!!! MY COMFORT SHOW HAS BETRAYED ME!!!!
