so i was like. hold up pause. bc WHO ELSE CANONICALLY WENT TO ETON???? henry montague.

So a while ago I found my copy of Disney Villains: The Top Secret Files.

And as an avid Hook enjoyed I thought I might share some of the Hook content provided.

I can take more pictures if anyone is interested.

I just finished The Lost Ones by Lauren DeStefano and I have so many feelings. Admittedly, I’m not a fan of the ending but the book as whole got young Hook and Smee SO. RIGHT. Just…*chef’s kiss*. I’ll post more thoughts on it when I’ve had time to sort them out but in the meantime, I’ll just say that if you want a good feel for how “my” Hook is personality-wise (both how he was as a child and how he is post-redemption arc), this book is it. It’s not how I headcanon his backstory. But it’s definitely how I envision him as a person.

Making Hook a former lost boy who wants revenge gives him a compelling motive, but I think it's funnier if he's just a random genteel Eton-educated grownup with a politeness fixation who ended up being a pirate in another world somehow.

I have an AU concept/character concept that I don’t know has been done before so it that’s the case then please let me know.

Pirate Wendy.

Peter Pan is a Faery that takes Wendy and her brothers away and replaces them with Changelings. Pan tries to get rid of Wendy by having Sirens drown her or a flock of Pixies knock her out of the sky.

Comes across Captain Hook who turns out to be one of the original Lost Boys who was also replaced in the Human World. Cap isn’t an angel though and decides to use Wendy as bait for Pan to enact his revenge.

Wendy’s fed up with this and tries to escape.

Finds a Pixie named Tinkerbell that was captured by Hook, she has beef with both Pan and Hook. Tinkerbell and Wendy escape together just as Pan arrives.

Battle plays out as usual and Hook is eaten by a crocodile. Wendy thanks Pan for saving her life…

Then takes the Captain hat off his head, claiming herself as Captain of the vessel. 

The crew is okay with this because they’d rather trust a human girl over a faery that will most likely turn on them at any given moment.

Tinkerbell and Wendy both fly off in their ship to rescue Wendy’s brothers.

Headcanoning Captain Hook was a former Lost Boy makes for good drama and all, but in the original play it’s strongly suggested that he’s an Eton boy, and that he later attended (but did not graduate from) Oxford, and if you work out what this implies about his backstory, his entire characterisation becomes much, much funnier.

how to explain the absoloute comic element of this guy who would have come from the most well off background, who attended the most known posh boy school in the country which the royals routinely send the princes to, where their uniform still involves tailored jackets with tails on the blazers, man probably grew up with a billion houses and nannys, basically like the rich family in downton abbey, followed the exact same path half the people who ended up running the country did by getting into then attending one of the most prestigious universities in the world let alone country, and then proceeded to drop out and go to neverland where he is now following the career choice of being a pirate who is unhealthily obsessed in his fight with someone who is literally a perpetual child. went peer of british royalty to blackbeard whos scared of crocodiles and has a nemesis who is a 10 year old boy

imagine if one of the bush or kennedy’s just disapeared one day after dropping out of college and you find out later they’re a pirate now

To be real I get how having Peter and Hook sharing a personal connection prior to the hand incident is seen as compelling drama, but I much prefer the idea that Fate or whatever plucked out a pair of egotisical dunderheads with opposite values and background and dropped it on the same island to watch them fight to the death
