I know this post is "I care and I'm part of the universe thus the universe cares." I won't necessarily be arguing against that. What I *will* argue, however, is that it's all a matter of scale, and "lol the universe doesn't give a shit" is/has been an exceptional grounding technique for me.

Don't get me wrong this isn't a cynical or doom-and-gloom attitude, exactly the opposite.

If I'm having a bad day and feel like everything is falling apart, will the grass still grow? Will the sun still shine?

When I'm dead and gone, will there still be love? Will there still be new life?

When the sun goes red giant and kills all life on earth, will there still be stars?

When the universe finally dies, however that may happen, will any of it have mattered?

The answer to all of this, in my mind, is yes. Everything is transient; nothing lasts forever; this, too, shall pass yadda yadda. Paradoxically (?), that's why here and now, we *should* care. The universe doesn't give a shit, that's why I, as part of the capital U Universe, do.
