Would it be a hot take to say that Yoda likes being in control of things? To an almost problematic degree.
Not to me. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you certainly know I’ve been openly critical of Yoda in the past. I don’t believe he is a bad person (or a bad character), but he is not this infallible, godlike Jedi that some believe him to be. I see him as flawed, not evil.
That being said, these days, saying that Star Wars characters are flawed can feel like a criminal offense—something that gets you cast out of the fandom. So yeah, some people will definitely see you pointing out that Yoda liked being in control and immediately scream “hater,” maybe even accuse you of ruining the fandom for them.
But again… yes, Yoda did have absolute control over the Jedi Order because of his position within it, and because deference to him was second nature to Temple-raised Jedi:
“Mace nodded silently. One did not argue with Master Yoda; in the Jedi Temple, this was learned in infancy. No Jedi ever forgot it.” — Mace Windu, Shatterpoint by Matthew Stover
And that also helps explain why Anakin had such a hard time bonding with Yoda—and vice versa.
I don't think Anakin had trouble bonding with Yoda exactly.
He had trouble bonding with the Jedi as a whole because of their inability to accept him as he was.
Because of their detachment philosophy and their abandonment of his mother.
---
Yoda made mistake with Anakin of course, but he also seems to be one of the most understanding of Anakin within the Order.
---
Yoda was the one who praised Anakin ability to disobey the Council.
He did it in season 6 twice.
When he escaped the Temple with Anakin's help, and when (in a deleted scene) he encouraged Anakin to act to do what was best for Ahsoka.
"Friends, are we?"
"Disobeying the Council, your expertise is."
"What should I do Master Yoda?"
"What you always do. Act. And act quickly, or save your Padawan you may not."
---
For someone as traditional, complacent and passive as Yoda (he probably became that way because he lived for nearly 900 years), to recognize and acknowledge Anakin's quality in rebellion and action-driven attitude, is to be commended.
Anakin is in many ways the opposite of Yoda.
---
Yoda's season 6 arc also shows us a bit of Yoda's greatest desires for the Order.
We see that he wishes for peace. For the children to play carefree around the Temple.
For the untraditional Jedi who has felt rejected and abandoned (Ahsoka) to get along with the most traditional Jedi (Mace).
For the young (Gungi) to get along with the old (Tera Sinube).
For Qui-Gon to still be alive. For Dooku to not have fallen. For Dooku to speak fondly of his old days as Yoda's Padawan to Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. (He wants the different generations to get along)
And for Anakin to not be isolated as he usually is, but to hang out with the other Jedi.
Yoda desires for peace and harmony, for everybody, no matter their differences to be included.
Yoda is not perfect, but he does his best to accept and include everybody.
And that is why Anakin went to him. He recognizes that Yoda is the one that accepts the most for who he is (after Ahsoka) within the Order.

Speaking of which, Yoda was well aware of Anakin and Padmé's relationship. But he kept quiet, and unlike Obi-Wan, he never tried to seperate the two or lecture Anakin about it.
In season 6, during the Clovis/ICB arc, Yoda sensed Anakin's distrust of Clovis, and his dislike of the idea of Clovis working close to Padmé.
He did not go to Anakin about it. But he did mentioned it to Obi-Wan.
Obi-Wan, chose to imply right away to Anakin that his emotions were basically not valid, because he is attached to Padmé. He even finished the conversation with "friend you must remain".
Obi-Wan never made Anakin feel safe about his love for Padmé.
Meanwhile, when Anakin was going to Scipio to rescue Padmé, Yoda simply remarked that Anakin will face difficult emotions. He points out that Anakin was correct about Clovis (validating Anakin's opinion), but then also advise him to not let selfishness drive him so that he can see things clearly.
Yoda doesn't lecture Anakin, he gives him recognition, encourages him to do what he believes is right, while also advising him on what he should and shouldn't for the best of all.
That's why Anakin listens to Yoda but not Obi-Wan.
---
And in Episode 3, when Anakin was desperate and sleep deprived, and already unwilling to speak to or ask for help from any Jedi, including Obi-Wan, he trusted Yoda enough to go to him.
It's speaks volume about how Yoda was the one Jedi who had manage to gain Anakin's respect and trust enough for him to open up to Yoda.
Unfortunately, Yoda accidentally gave the worst answer possible.
Yoda has learned long ago to rationalize loss. And while he was able to advice Ahsoka correctly in season 3, when she came to Yoda about her visions of Padmé being assassinated.
Yoda is wise enough to understand that the young cannot deal with loss like he does. But unfortunately he was grieving currently grieving Dooku, and failed to remember that what he was himself currently doing to deal his loss will not help Anakin.
However season 7, does show that Yoda was still worried about Anakin.
Yoda hoped for a message from Ahsoka to transmit to Anakin.
He hoped that news from Ahsoka would cheer Anakin up.
But Mace's attitude towards Ahsoka moments prior convinced her to keep quiet and wait.

Anyway, sorry for the long rant, but I wanted to emphasize that Yoda may have been the Jedi who bonded the most with Anakin (in an healthy way) after Ahsoka.
I think the problem there is TCW doing a retcon. A understandable retcon but still a retcon. My reasoning being before tcw Anakin and Yoda had an explicitly bad relationship wether you pick movies, comics or 03 neither of them were particularly close and if anything Anakin had a closer relationship to anyone but Yoda. Even mace and Anakin had more respect for each other than Yoda had of Anakin and that was implied even in the movies. Yoda often was the first to basically say Anakin was problematic. Its weird but i feel tcw retconned this relationship purely to make Yoda more likeable in the show because in every other media including the movies anakin and Yoda couldn’t stand each other or didn’t have a respectful relationship on either side. I want to agree with the tcw version but it just doesn’t fit anywhere even in the movies as Yoda explicitly has no faith in Anakin and even tried to get rid of him
