who’s gonna tell tumblr that executive dysfunction is more than Not Doing Things?
okay
these are the executive functions. impairment of these functions is executive dysfunction
Oh.
OH
Girl, help. None of my executives are functioning
Quick someone show this to all the old shrinks who “didn’t want to label” us
How people think I am when I say I’m autistic: Hello foolish neurotypical! Would you like to— GET OUT OF MY CHAIR THAT’S MY CHAIR! Would you like to watch me instantly solve some calculus equations? :)
What I’m actually like: Hi! (Oh God why did I say that? Idiot. They probably think I’m so annoying now. Fuck, I never think before I speak. This is why I’ll never have any friends. I’m doomed.)
The feeling when you start unmasking and now you have to show your real personality that just isn’t there
Today’s the day
One day of fasting and my rings are already looser around my finger.
Don't tell me this doesn't work.
balancing depression and ed is so hard like everyone else is exercising to burn extra calories but i can’t even get out of bed to shower lol
You know it gets bad again when you result into going back on tumblr 💀
Finally got back out there, but it’s still scorching hot outside. Ran only half, walked most of the way back. Aching pain in shins and calves.
This is day 13. I ran 2200m (1.37 miles) in 18 minutes 02 seconds. Guess 13 really is an unfortunate number.
if you asked a group of abled people and a group of disabled people how many tasks they do each day before they leave the house, I bet that disabled people would count more. not because they actually do more tasks (although this can also be true), but because there are bunch of tasks that are invisible to abled people
in my experience, abled people wouldn’t count “putting water in the kettle” as a task separate from “putting the kettle on”. abled people don’t tend to count “getting out of bed” as a task. they don’t tend to count “put on shoes” as a separate task from “getting dressed”. etc etc
not only are disabled people living in bodies that require more energy, we’re also having to include these “invisible tasks” into our energy use equation… which, ironically, is probably another drain on our energy
It took me a couple of days to get back out there again, because of work and my second job and hubby and kids and and and…
But today i got myself a new pair of shoes and went for a run right after. I guess a couple of days rest did me good.
I ran the WHOLE. DAMN. THING. in 1 go. Wow. Just wow.
This is day 8. I ran 2230m (1.39 miles) in 16 minutes 43 seconds.
I wish every person who accuses disabled people of faking their disabilities a very I WILL Kill You This Is A Threat
little miss (autistic version)
underdiscussed benefit of auditory processing issues is that I’m basically immune to catcalling because I fully. do not understand a single word of what people are saying. half the time I barely realise it’s me they’re talking to because it‘s not like I can figure it out based on content and context clues. there’s just Some Guys Yelling on the other side of the street, and it barely occurs to me to feel addressed because I am, at any given time, too busy thinking about the menacing duality of rhododendrons
Me: I must be faking my autism
Also me: wow what a long day of socialising, I feel like I'm going to die if I don't crawl into bed with my Good Texture blanket and rhythmically rub my feet together while I read about this topic I'm "abnormally" interested in
