Let me try this! As a certified Pokemon fan (and a junior Cosmere fan), I just couldn’t stay back (sorry @screamsofagony it’s been like three months, but it’s better late than never, right?)
I took specifically Stormlight characters (beware of spoilers, including WaT)
Taravangian: plays Pokemon Black.
Taravangian: hmm
Taravangian: Maybe I should start a cult.
Taravangian: But Ghetsis had this N guy who was groomed from a young age to see only evil so that he would think he always does the right thing, fighting this evil — while in reality he just helps Ghetsis with his plans…
Taravangian: hmm...
Taravangian: *stares at Gavinor*
Taravangian: I might have an idea.
Shallan: plays Pokemon Black.
(She has a Zoroark in her team, obviously).
Shallan: Just imagine: you meet me in a battle.
Shallan: I release a Gothitelle.
Shallan: You may think: well, it's a Psychic-type Pokemon, I need to counter it with my Chandelure's Shadow ball.
Shallan: You use it — and see a message “It's not very effective!”
Shallan: The Illusion wears out, and my Zoroark kills your Chandelure with Night Daze!
Shallan: And now you'll start to question all my Pokemon! Is it really what it seems to be? Or is it Zoroark again? You have no way to tell.
Shallan: How cool is this!
Kaladin: Always tries the Nuzlocke challenge. Always loses.
(Note: Nuzlocke is the challenge where you must gather a team which consists only from the first Pokemon met on each route, no choosing. You give them nicknames and consider them to be dead the moment they faint. When all your team is dead, it's game over).
Game Over screen: “Kaladin scurried to a Pokemon Center, protecting the exhausted and fainted Pokemon from further harm…”
(it's like the 5th time already)
Kaladin: *stares at the screen*
Kaladin: *long sigh*
Kaladin: *is about to close the game*
Kaladin: I can't do this.
Kaladin: Maybe I'm just a bad trainer.
Syl: What's wrong?..
Kaladin: I just can't watch this Whitney destroying my whole team each time. Her Miltank one-shots my Quilava with its Rollout after this flinch-paralysis combo.
Kaladin: And I can't do anything about it.
Syl: …
Syl: Oh! I know!
Syl: Use berries! Pack like a lot of them! Give them to your Pokemon so that they can heal themselves!
Syl: This… This should work! Just give it another try! Please!
Kaladin:
Kaladin: …Thank you, Syl.
Kaladin: Oran Berry heals like 10 HP, which isn't anything impressive…
Kaladin: But all right. I'll try it. One more time.
Adolin: plays Pokemon Omega Ruby.
Adolin: This game is just something!
Adolin: I can play with this cute Pikachu some mini games, and dress her in pretty dresses, and pat her head, and feed her with sweets!
Adolin: And we can perform together on the stage to show how beautiful she is!
Shallan: …Your Pikachu is like level 100?
Adolin: Of course, she is also a skilled fighter!
Nightblood: watches Szeth playing Pokemon FireRed.
(Let's pretend it can see, of course).
Nightblood: Yay! We won against Giovanni! We destroyed Team Rocket! We destroyed some evil!!
Nightblood: Is this the end of the game?
Szeth: No, sword-nimi. We still have to finish the Elite Four.
Nightblood: *thrilled* Are they evil??
Szeth: No, they aren’t.
Nightblood: *disappointed sigh*
Szeth: But we still can destroy them.
Nightblood: *wild cheering*
Dalinar: has a strong connection to Giovanni's storyline.
Dalinar: I can understand this man.
Dalinar: A former criminal who did a lot of unforgivable things in the past.
Dalinar: And now he realises all his mistakes, accepts them, and disbands Team Rocket. Trying to stop all the evil he caused and become a better man. And he leaves — just to figure out who he is before making the next step.
Dalinar: And he becomes misunderstood by his people — and even his own son. They say that he became weak. That he surrendered. Went insane.
Dalinar: But he still tries to follow the right path.
Dalinar: …
Dalinar: This children's game is definitely deeper than it looks like.
Moash: uses hacks where he can play as a villain.
(Sorry, but Rocket Edition hack is my Roman empire)
Moash: What do you mean I have to rob this little girl before I can rob the Elite Four and the Champion?!
Moash: I play it to degrade the authorities, not to fight children!
Sigzil: is really into competitive battling. But not because he wants to test his skills in a fight with a real person. He just wants to know how exactly these magical creatures work — and make the best out of them.
Sigzil: Okay, now, after a billion hours of breeding, I have this Clefable having Calm nature and Unaware ability and 31 Individual Values in all six stats.
Sigzil: Now I have to train it to get the right Effort Values. I should invest 252 points in HP to make it as sturdy as possible. And remaining points will go into Defense and Special Defense, probably.
Sigzil:
Sigzil: ...It was easier to figure out how Surgebinding works.
Eshonai: plays Pokemon GO.
Eshonai: I didn't know my hometown had so many cool and wonderful places!
Eshonai: Now I want to visit a lot of other cities — with all these little tiny corners where you can find Gyms and Pokestops!
Venli: You don't even catch Pokemon??
Eshonai: It’s not as interesting!
Hoid: finds a lot of... familiar things.
Hoid: This game is probably designed by Rosharans.
Hoid: Why else should it have so many moving plants, rocky animals, and crabs?
