A Fabulous UnModel!!

It's a warm, fuzzy and very rewarding feeling knowing you've made a real difference to someone's day! That's why I LOVE what I do!!

On Friday, fabby UnModel Mel, had an AndAndrea Styleover. Her partner treated her, for her Birthday (how lovely). Mel was really excited and a teensy bit nervous! Excited about the possibility of finding a fresh new style and nervous... just incase I didn't 'get' her style! She brought along her lovely stepmum Heather.

Over an initial coffee chat, Mel explained that, she has a new bub and that she's a time poor, non-shopper!! She also admitted that she felt a bit drab when meeting girlfriends for coffee and she had no nice clothes to go out to dinner in, with her special man!! Hence, she didn't really want to go out much!

I hear a similar story from many of my clients.

I love knowing a dose of retail therapy and some girlie fun can really make such a HUGE difference. Clothes may be superficial, but they DO affect the way you feel!

Anyway...it's time to go shopping and get styling!!.

Mel had a look in mind that appealed... the classic Ralph Lauren look. Timeless and effortless. So, on the top of her wish list was a casual (not worky) navy blazer, a striped tee and dark washed jeans. We ticked most of the items off at Saba. For Mel's shape, Sportscraft jeans won hands down and she bought them in light wash for day, dark wash for night and Boyfriends for fun! We found sneakers at Seed, colourfun camis at Sportsgirl and fab black dressy pants at Country Road. Her extra special 'splurge' piece was a Sass & Bide jacket!

Here we are!! Styling done and dusted!! Mel above (R) in her new blazer and stripy tee and Heather (L) also found a few well deserved S&B treats along the way!! Err... excuse the thongs. Mel did score a fab pair of flats at David Jones, but her feet were tired out after all that shopping!!

Once home, Mel was so excited, she not only cleaned out her wardrobe, but she sent me a selfie and attached this note below...

Mel made my day... Love my styling and forever grateful that I can help others.

Charlie Brown Style at Claremont Quarter

Meet Tracey Horton! She inspires me!! 

Tracey, is Chairman of the Perth Fashion Festival. She is also a wife and mum of two teenage boys, a graduate of Stanford University, an ex-Reserve Bank Economist, Chairman of the Board at PLC and former Dean of UWA's Business School. The list goes on... Tracey is one amazing woman, a delightful new friend and she now has an interest in fashion! WooHoo!!

After styling Tracey for PFF in 2013, Tracey and I have kept in touch. At first, she was a little unsure of being 'styled' by a stranger, but found she really enjoyed having some AndAndrea fashion fun!!

Recently, Tracey asked me to style her for the Leeuwin Concert. She wanted something glam, but a bit different. No boring stuff please.

So, we zipped into Charlie Brown at CQ and oops...with the help of Manager Kirra (above) a true Charlie Brown Angel, we also found a few extra 'everyday' dresses along the way (see above).

In the past, Tracey avoided prints and patterns. She now wears bold prints confidently and loved this 'WOW' shift dress!

Yes, we got a little side tracked and even gave a floral / leopard maxi a go... just for fun! Hawt!!!

This cobalt blue gown was tempting, but plainish and not what Tracey had in mind for this outdoors, under the stars occasion.

Ta daaaa! Tracey finally decided on this pure silk wrap. It ticked all the boxes...wide V-neck, accentuated the waist yet skimmed the tummy and hips. It was also a little flirty, and fabulously feminine!! The rich tones, muted pattern and total comfort won her over. 

And here she is... looking glam and feeling fabulous at Leeuwin. Pictured with Deidre Wilmott CEO of CCI. Tip: notice the bellowy sleeves have been customised. Tracey felt they were too voluminous for her. Voila, they were easily tapered and shortened. Try altering, tucking or customising your clothes, to suit yourself!

Add a Dash of Sparkle To Someone's Day!!

Every now and then, a special friend can add sparkle to your whole day!

You know, that 'feel good' tingle you have when you see a special girlie. Amy sprinkled her 'magic' on me yesterday. We shared simple, no fuss, refreshing 'girltime'. What a treat!!

Amy and I don't see each very often, but when we do catchup, there's a magic feeling... I think it's Amy's lovely sunshiny nature. Yesterday, was time for overdue catchups not just with Amy, but with her adorable bub Chloe too!

Amy and I are different ages and we are at different stages in our lives. She's a very busy mumma of two little girls. My three boys are all grown up now... but Amy and I just click.

We laugh and chat about all things from fabulous food to fashion, but we mainly talk about the 3B's...Bubs, Boys and Blogging (no, not Baz her husband). Amy's blog, AbsoluteAmy is a Lifestyle blog. She talks motherhood, shares recipes and finds fabulous, affordable, yummy-mummy fashion. Amy's blog can be viewed here at absoluteamy.com 

Over coffee, Amy reminded me that she was keen to try my Lentil Burger Recipe. Recently, others have asked about my family Mexican Fiesta's. So, just for a change from fashion, I've snapped my Lentil Burger preparation and my Mexi Fiesta nights will feature soon! So, here we go!

'Secret' Mexi Lentil Burgers ala AndAndrea!!

Mash 3 tins of rinsed, drained brown lentils in a large bowl or blend in a food processor. Add a tin of Refried Beans, a finely diced red onion, a grated carrot, a whisked egg (omit for vegan version), a sachet of Mexi Chilli Powder (Old El Paso Chilli Spice Mix), a bunch of chopped coriander, a grated zucchini (squeezed of all liquid), some breadcrumbs to bind, extra chilli (optional for lovers of a fiery palette) and a pinch salt (optional). Roll fist sized balls in plain flour. Line a fry pan with BAKING PAPER (a must). Place 4 balls into pan. Press each ball into a large egg ring to create even sized burgers. Add a slurp of olive oil and cook till golden and firm (approx 5 mins) before flipping over.

Easy peasy!! Burgers are ready to serve!

If you prefer not to overload on bread, then serve patties on a roast vege stack with baby spinach leaves. Glaze the vegies with Mazzetti thick Balsamic Vinegar.

Or serve with lettuce, tomato...

...gaucomale and peppers in a... 

... toasty wholemeal roll!! Delish!!

Any uncooked patties freeze well. Stack with Baking Paper in between and seal.

Time To Shine Empire Rose

WA brand, Empire Rose is riding high. Their clothes are edgy, cool and very wearable!!

A chance meeting with Designer Kath, gave me the opportunity to tell her just how FABULOUS her clothes really are! Some of my favourite, never to part with, wardrobe staples are timeless Empire Rose pieces from many seasons ago.

Kath is an amazing creative. She is upbeat, fun-loving and oozes talent. Over the past few months, I've frequented her Studio, sampling her latest sporty, lifestyle 'Basics' collection. What a privilege! Better still, Kath is happy for me to do my own AndAndrea 'thing' with her clothes. WooHoo... there are no rules!!

Before you see her range though, let's take a peek inside the rarely seen Empire Rose Studio.

It's a hive of activity and there's a good vibe happening! Patterns are stored, stock is hung, orders despatched and some pieces are actually made onsite. There's a buzz in the air... exciting things are happening!

For me, its been an AndAndrea / Empire Rose Summer!! Time to show you my Edit. It's an easy-wear, on trend collection that suits our laid back lifestyle.

If you're already a sucker for all things 'drop-crotch' these Loose Luxe Twill shorts (Above L & R ) are perfecto. If you've never dared to try, go on, give them a whirl...they suit so many body types and you may even get hooked!!

The Twill shorts are slouchy, stretchy and comfy. They come in long and short lengths and in black, white and navy. Very versatile and can be dressed up or down. Tip: MUST be worn with uber confidence!!

'Sweats' above, are lightweight, short tracky pants!! Brilliant. They smack streetstyle grunge and work well with tartan. They come in marle grey, black and... white will be available soon too! They're made from stretchy t-shirt material and can be rolled up or down. Styled above with a white 'Rebel' Empire Rose tee.

Black 'Sweats' (Above) dressed up with a sleeveless blazer and heels. Shorts are a winning look this season. So, dress them up and wear them out.

A hot trend this summer is the singlet dress. It's such an easy piece to wear. This Empire Rose Rebel maxi above is supersoft cotton and comes in all-over white and nautical stripes as well. It actually sits mid-calf, but is hitched up in the pic.

96FM + CQ = Dream Day

Imagine winning a Radio Comp just before Christmas!! Sharon Schultz did just that! She was the lucky winner of a $10 000 haul from 96FM. Sharon's prize included a holiday at the Crown Metropol Perth. Plus a pre-Christmas CQ (Claremont Quarter) shopping spree and a CQ Dream Day! Sharon's recent Dream Day included an AndAndrea Styleover, plus a pamper session at ME by Maurice Meade. How fab!

Sharon below, shared her Styleover prize with her daughter Sarah.

We met at CQ's Guest Services Lounge. First up, we chatted about Sharon's 'wishes' for her Dream Day. Sharon was keen to try some new styles and admitted she wasn't a keen 'shopper'. I wanted her day to be 'dreamy' and NOT a drag!!

 So, let's begin and not 'overload' Sharon with too many shops!!!

Sportsgirl was the perfect destination. There's fab gear for girls and for mums too!! Also, they do tricky in-between sizes in jeans (7,9,11,13,15, and 16). Sharon is a Swimming Teacher and needed trendy, lifestyle clothing. She loved the 'tracksuit' sportsluxe jeans and lightweight, easy wear v-neck, spotty and tartan tops. Tip: Tartan is on its way IN!!

We found bargains and on-trend, lifestyle clothes. Sharon was keen to find a decent pair of shorts. She loved the elasticised khaki pair above and bought them in tangerine too!! Sarah looked amazing in everything!

WooHoo!! Sarah found a cute LBD and Sharon loved her sporty, silky pants and vibrant, cobalt silk tank. Sportsgirl Manager Chloe, above, rocked her tangerine shorts and was a huge help with sizes and suggestions too!! Yes it was dreamy... not a drag!!!

With all that styling it was time to take a break and head to ME for an hour of pampering and a makeover.

Hopman Cup Style

The New Years Eve, Hopman Cup Ball, at the Crown Casino, is an annual Gala event! International sporting celebs mix 'n mingle with Perthites, Fashionistas and Media celebs, to welcome the New Year in, in style.

WA's Perth Fashion Festival, has an International Programme and invited me to be involved with the styling of the International players for the Ball. As I'm a tennis nut from way back, I thought it would be a fun thing to do!

Prep started early in December. Always good to plan ahead!! The ball would be a perfect opportunity to showcase our amazing WA designers to the world. Visiting stores, studios and warehouses, I selected gowns, shoes, gowns and more gowns (varying in size from 8-14) and stored them safely, well in advance of the big event.

The players were all staying at the Crown. So, I set up a 'Pop-Up' gown store in a suite at the Crown. This meant, in between training and matches, the players could book in for a private viewing and fitting. Gowns from WA Designers such as Steph Audino, One Fell Swoop, Empire Rose, Jomay Cao, Ruth Tarvydas, Ae'lkemi, Flannel and Betty Tran were on display.

The sorting, steaming and hanging was a massive job! It was made so much easier with help from fabby friends Nicole Carboni, as well as Steph and Connie Audino. Big thanks and hugs girlies xx 

Zu kindly donated 10 pairs glitzy, sky high ball shoes! WooHoo!!!

Over several days, the players came in one by one. They were really friendly, excited and simply delightful to style. Some, stayed for an hour or more... happily swapping leggings and singlets for girlie gowns. Others sped in, tried on one gown only and happily left! Pictured above (R) with Italian Tennis Star, Flavia Pennetta and (L) with French player Alize Cornet.

The 'Before' hair and make-up snapshots above, show how natural and down to earth these sporty goddesses were!! ...Cant wait to show you the 'After' results. 

In between the styling bookings, there was a teensy bit of R&R time to take a breather and enjoy all that the fabulous Crown has to offer.

Once all the styling prep was done, there was also time time pop over to the Perth Arena to watch some exciting tennis! Attending the tennis as a guest in both the Hawaiian Suite and also the Perth Fashion Festival Box were personal highlights.

As the Ball grew closer, the players (and some of their mums and partners) were pampered at the Crown with glam hairdos from Loreal, make-up by Lauren Wood and complimentary jewellery for the night, from Solid Gold Jewellers.

The players were all set and ready to swap tennis balls for ballgowns!!

As they arrived and walked the 'blue carpet' for press shots, I stood aside at the end of the runway to take a few AndAndrea snaps.

Canadian star, Eugenie Bouchard (R) wore an ivory, sequined, One Fell Swoop gown, whilst Julie (her mum) stunned the crowd in a draped Steph Audino magenta gown and Zu heels.

Flavia and Lucia (both seen above, in the 'Before' shots) chose Steph Audino gowns. They were thrilled to meet the designer herself, Steph Audino on the night.

Aga Radwanska (L) wore a gold fleck Jomay Cao gown. Maddy McKinley (R/John Isner's girlfriend) chose a leather/silk Flannel gown which was later gifted to her by Kristy from Flannel.

I'm not a 'Baller' and opted for a quiet NYE. So I didnt doll up for the ball, but did quickly pull on my Scanlan maxi for a photo with gorgeous Eugenie.

Hopman organisers Libby and Julia, as well as PFF's Mariella (above) all rocked Steph Audino gowns.

In a flash, the Ball was over and the unworn gowns were returned back to the designers.

It was a fabulous event and a night for WA Designers to shine!

A Joyous Time

Rolling Rum truffles, grooving to Michael Buble` carols, hanging hearts, sharing bubbles and styling the table are all part of my Christmas traditions. We all have them... those special things we do year in year out, that makes Christmas such a joyous time. 

Things got a little hectic in the lead up to Christmas, so this 'post' Christmas blog, shares just a little peek at our 2013 Tonkin Christmas. 

Simple, traditional theming this year! White cloth, white snow cones, green magnolia centrepiece wreath, red gingham checkered mat and silver accents all a feature of my tablestyle this Christmas.

Christmas at ours, is about sharing time and giving. Home-made gifts are THE BEST! My 'secret' truffles are made from a whole Lions crumbled fruit cake, a big slurp of rum or cointreau, 2 x packets of melted Lindt chocolate, cranberries, coconut and cherries. Roll balls in cocoa and store for ages in the fridge. Easy peasy! Not too sweet. Delish!

The whole living area gets a touch of Christmas magic, including little Missy Indi, who celebrated her 14th Christmas this year. She had leftover turkey and as always, a silver doggie bonbon thanks to DeeDee.

Casual outfit styling this Christmas. Comfort a big priority. My white sportsluxe Ellery t-shirt dress was cool and floaty. Sneakers were good for all. The blogshy sons and hubs wore a mix of colourfun rainbow shorts, flamingo shirts and denim!

We started the celebrations with festive sangria, washed down with 'Rocky Road a-la Hannah'. Lindt chocolate and turkish delight pieces make it especially scrummy!! We soon moved onto bubbles...cheers to family Christmas!!

Time to eat! All the credit here goes to my ridiculously talented bro-in-law, Brian. He's a wizz in the kitchen and nailed the traditional Christmas roast with all the trimmings.

Celebrating his 91st Christmas, 'King Henry' is always the most honoured guest and sits at the head of the table. After a beautiful speech and toast to family and good health dinner was devoured!

My usual, Jamie Oliver's mums Christmas trifle, went out the window this year and made way for the 'Christmas Ice-cream Cake' above. Layers of Sara Lee mixed with crumbled choccies and set frozen in the days leading up to Christmas.

A BerryPash crumble topping added kerpow!! Simple and loved by all!!

It's all over for another year. I do hope your Christmas was a joyous, happy family time.

Time To Tame the Brows at Alison Jade Cosmetics

When an invitation arrived to attend Alison Jade's Secret Garden Party, I was intrigued! I'd heard a lot about Alison Jade Cosmetics and loved the thought of a secret soiree, so I jumped at the opportunity.

It was a beautiful, balmy evening and an intimate girlie affair. Whilst we sipped on cocktails, in a divine garden setting, Alison passionately spoke about her natural, mineral based cosmetics range and about her specialty Brow Styling. It was here that Alison suggested I visit her Cottesloe Salon and experience an Alison Jade makeover!! Woo Hoo!!

Make-up really does complete the look. Often, I'm guilty of spending far more time concentrating on my outfit, then I 'slip, slop, slap' my face and race out the door!! So, it was a timely invitation. I was definitely in need of some make-up tips and really ready for an updated look!

Let's get started. I head into Alison Jade's Salon in my colourful Boho Style combo. Wearing loads of Bali tassels and beads, Havaianas from Peachy Store, Racer from Witchery and silk Salasai Happy Pants from Zara Bryson on-line Shop. I've slung the pants low, so they are slouchy, then rolled them at the ankle. They are available here at zarabrysonshop.

Alison Jade (Above) wanted to know my needs and concerns. So, I prattled off a list... a real deal, hard core Concealer, an orange pop lippy (that actually stays on) and a light, invisible, everyday natural Foundation, with SPF to suit my casual lifestyle!

She talked brush stokes V finger tip application, taught me how to apply and blend my products properly and made the whole experience positive and uplifting.

Next up... Brow Taming Time with Alison!

Brows have come of age... I HAD NO IDEA!!

After a few disastrous eyebrow experiences in the past, I've left my brows to grow wild and free. Free Range actually!!

So... here we go!

Alison trimmed, waxed, brushed, bleached, tinted and coloured-in my brows!! Phew! Now I understand exactly why she is a brow specialist!!

Alison gave me a modern, edgy, statement brow. She explained that the brows may seem quite dramatic at first, but they will fade over 3 weeks and after showering.

I left Alison Jade Cosmetics with trendy new brows, a fresh 'dewy' look, orange-pop lips and a bag of delectable goodies. How fab!!! Thanks Alison and Sarah xx

Christmas Style at Look Feel Be

Look Feel Be is in Festive Mode and it really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

So, let's get glam at LFB and celebrate Christmas Style with fabby UnModels Jodie and Bobbi-Jo. WooHoo!!

Ho Ho Ho!! Sweet treats served by stunning Bobbi-Jo!

Bobbi-Jo oozes Vintage Retro Style. A Dior style hat, black cigarette skinnies and knotted statement collared shirt, were the perfect combo for her work Christmas party! Add fingerless lace gloves, red lips and catseyes!! 

Bobbi-Jo is studying to be a school teacher. She is also a very talented Nail Technician and runs her own Jazzy Art Nail salon in Northbridge. Bobbi-Jo is a petite Size 8. 

Gorgeous Jodie Peterkin is a regular LFB'er. She is mum to eleven year old Jackson, runs her own business, Peterkin Paper Merchants and is also a blogger. Phew!! Life is a very busy juggle and Jodie is often time poor when it comes to clothes shopping. She gets her regular LFB 'fix' because she knows she can always find the perfect outfit in a jiffy!

Claremont Quarter : An Ultimate Styling Experience

Pamper! Pamper! Pamper!

Channel 9 Presenter, Sally Ayhan popped into Claremont Quarter for an Ultimate Styling Experience.

The whole experience was filmed by a Channel 9 crew, for a soon to be aired Perth Cup, Racewear feature.

Here's a few sneaky behind the scenes snaps... 

Sally's package included a 3 hour AndAndrea Styling Session at Claremont Quarter (CQ) and a ME at Maurice Meade hair do and makeover.

Delight... I tagged along and was treated to the Royal ME pamper as well!! Thanks ME!!

Before the serious styling began though, we chatted and brunched at Beluga. Beluga specializes in Piccolo Dining...tasty, scrummy, bite-sized morsels. (Behind the scenes, the camera crew were drooling and yes, they demolished our leftovers!!)

Let the Styling begin...

First stop... sass & bide! Sally loved this embroidered, ivory peplum dress for Cup Day. Feminine, flirty, fun! (oops... Sally did have nude courts on, but things were a bit hectic and I didn't manage to get a snap of that!)

The dress comes with an optional jacket. It's lightweight, with feature sheer arms. Super stylish suiting for the Perth Cup.

Next we stopped at Saba. I styled Sally in a no fuss, lime citrus shift. Stunning! 

Surrounded by curious shoppers, we chatted in the Mall about Racewear etiquette.

We headed into Cue and found a capped sleeved patterned dress. Nice geometric alternative to plain.

It's a wrap! Shopping and styling complete! 

Sally looked absolutely stunning in her final 'secret' outfit. But... sorry, I can't show you a behind the scenes sneaky here.
