I follow with starving eyes—
I've come to despise
This chasm I cannot fill

Those stupid pink skies
I follow with starving eyes—
I've come to despise
This chasm I cannot fill
A heart that is never still
in you
i found a mirage
floating
on an endless sea
of tears.
—RTG
It tasted just like happiness
Like roses and champagne
A sunset, star-soaked honey bliss
Devoid of any pain
I pressed the lovely sweet pea
Made wishes in the night
The dandelions soared with me
The tiny seeds took flight
I drank till I was sated
And then I drank some more
Until the fear had faded
Until I lost the shore
But surely in the morning
Inside the coldest light
The day became a warning
& I was sick with fright
The magic still lingers
It whispers in the trees
Golden webs between my fingers
A thread none but the forest sees
A flash of lightning
caught in a glass jar
will be a pet
which we coddle
until time
and the spring sky
merge
into something
beyond our lives.
Two years have passed,
I'm here again,
What a nostalgic view,
To the right,
The flower field,
And fear that I am doomed.
Happy Sunday!
I’ve made the decision to close my Ko-fi page/shop.
My eBook shop is back on Gumroad!
In the new shop you can find a mix of paid and free/pay what you want PDF ebooks.
Check it out!
I'm going to get some writing done this weekend! Haven't been able to work on much this week.
Last year we started our online poetry journal and published 47 poems on our old blog. Those amazing poems were then collected into a digital volume that is available for download!
We’ve been on hiatus but Oatleaf is back! The journal is now on Substack and submissions are open!
I saw a deer today! 🦌
Hello poets!
We have been on hiatus for a few months but we are excited to announce that Oatleaf is ready to get back up and running again.
Oatleaf is now on Substack!
It will be easier to subscribe to the journal and get poems sent directly to your inbox.
Submissions are open!

I'm getting closer to having 1,500 poems under my belt!

Not Anyone Who Says
by Mary Oliver
Not anyone who says, “I’m going to be careful and smart in matters of love,” who says, “I’m going to choose slowly,” but only those lovers who didn’t choose at all but were, as it were, chosen by something invisible and powerful and uncontrollable and beautiful and possibly even unsuitable — only those know what I’m talking about in this talking about love.
i see you, darling and i'll let you sleep as lonely as i am and as much as i miss you together, in our gnarled branch home.
don't worry about me don't worry about me
(i'll bloom again by the time you wake up)

I count the stars in violet skies
I wish upon the points of light
Some are dreams in poor disguise
I count the stars in violet skies
My soul shimmers in delight
The trees whisper their soft replies
I count the stars in violet skies
I wish upon the points of light
