If a woman walks into a feminist group and the focus is more on whether she has given up men or not rather than what the group can accomplish for women at the moment, that would seem to me like an ineffective feminist group focused less on female class solidarity and more on identity discourse and personal small-scale choices/actions. Keep in mind that I totally agree that individual action, like never dating men, is never wasted (in fact, it's something that men as a class are very afraid of) and women should be encouraged to stop dating men. But why is it the most important? Does the y chromosome in her vicinity impede her ability to organize a protest for abortion, or a pornography boycott campaign, or an abortion fund, or writing an email to her university about period equality for students and staff?

I'm going to assume that this is about my detransition; if it's not, feel free to correct me.

You're correct that I experience discomfort, and you're correct that I have the resources to change my situation if I want. Why do you assume that change will alleviate the discomfort? I wrote here about how dysphoria shifts for me, and how being on testosterone didn't so much erase it as change the direction. What I've never written about on tumblr are the side effects I experienced from T, some of which left me in significant pain.

Transition didn't reduce my discomfort so much as replace it with different kinds of discomfort. If I decide that those new forms of discomfort are preferable to the kinds I experience now, I'll re-transition. Otherwise, I won't.

The way many radfems throw around "therapy" as a nebulous solution for the underlying issues which drive people to transition irritates me (in the sense of "ffs this person needs to go to therapy" in reference to an individual, not "as a society, we need to create a better definition of dysphoria and better interventions").

There is limited research on what modalities are best equipped to serve dysphoric individuals. Most people have little/no access to therapy, period, let alone finding a therapist who has both a significant grasp on gender dysphoria as a concept and won't try to convince a client that "I experience GD but don't want to transition" isn't the result of internalized transphobia. Some of the systemic issues around GD healthcare are a result of the trans movement, but none of them are the fault of the individual people suffering from GD.

I think that there is a lot of hope for feminist, somatic, and trauma-focused therapies in this space. But to act like it's a treatment that is as readily available as physical interventions is not in line with reality.

Question for radfems - I often see the argument that gender ideology infringes on religious/cultural rights for religions with sex roles prohibiting, for instance, women undressing in front of men.

This doesn't strike me as a good faith argument? Aren't these practices based out of patriarchal ideas of purity and not (as in the right to sex-based transitional spaces) protection of women from men? Shouldn't radical feminism generally oppose that kind of cultural relativism?

Women have a reasonable expectation of access to single-sex spaces, services and accommodations. That's the argument in whole. But when so many women are willing to give up their right to single-sex spaces (etc), it's necessary to put the spotlight on the many women affected by their loss, regardless of their reason for needing them in the first place.

And I think when it's brought up with regards to religious women, and specifically Muslim or orthodox Jewish women, it's maybe done (rightly or wrongly) to highlight the hypocrisy of leftists who excuse misogyny in the name of cultural relativity/sensitivity, but attack the women whose culture they deem transphobic. Essentially pointing out that wherever there is a conflict of interest, women never come out on top.

I would appreciate that argument if it was made explicitly, but to me it often seems somewhat ... tokenizing (possibly not the right word) to set aside criticisms of religion and outright defend patriarchial traditions because they happen to agree on this particular policy.
