Do you ever feel like you’re missing out on so much just because of being who you are and not someone else? Whenever I see a beautiful girl I wonder how it must feel to be that beautiful and if I’ll ever feel like that. Or when I see someone who’s confident and extroverted and I imagine how nice and easy it must be to be that way. Or when I see someone that’s my age who has already accomplished so much or been in so many places and experienced so many things, I can’t help but feel like time is falling from my hands like sand and I’m not getting better or going anywhere. I grew up watching movies and reading stories that made me believe that life was supposed to be constantly exciting and I haven’t felt that way many times and I just feel so stuck being myself. I wish I could be someone else for a while.
Look at this. 60,000 notes. Think about the people reblogging this.
Some of them are those confident and extroverted people- they get alone with themselves, for once, and feel suffocated. They wonder why they can’t be so creative, so calm, why they have to spill their every thought out to people, why they talk so damn much. They wonder if they’re wasting their lives in an endless stream of chatter.
Or, some of them are so accomplished. They’ve been single for ages, they work to the point of exhaustion, they know they’re pursuing their dreams but they wonder if it’s at the cost of deeper, more intimate personal relationships. They fear that one day, they will wake up surrounded by their achievements but totally alone. They know that this is all they get and they fear they spend too much time in the world but not enough really being with people.
Time is falling through all of our hands. It marches forward, relentless and cruel, and we each in our own way wonder what we will have missed when it runs out. Life is exciting, and you are stuck being yourself. These aren’t mutually exclusive. Every time you walk through a door two more close behind you.
You and all of these people and me, because I am all of these people and so are you, can only listen to my/your/our guts, do our best to know ourselves, and try to live with as much intention as possible before the east wind passes over us.
Are you out of time yet?
kids have no concept of anything. i walked into my kindergarten class and one kid asked me what my name was. when i said miss jones, he said “i like that name. did you know i’m in love with you”
i asked my four year old cousin how old he thought i was going to be at my next birthday and he said 8. im 23
once i told a 6 year old that i had finished school and was doing “more school” [university] and she asked “why haven’t you found anyone to marry then”
We were at a museum and I was asking for the student discount and my nine year old cousin looks up at me with his eyes wide and says “wait you’re a STUDENT??”
I used to babysit these three kids and the eldest who was around 11 at the time was talking about how adults are boring and when I told him I was an adult he said, “That’s not true, you’re my age”
our aunt teaches and she has this story about a little girl who really was always pretty quiet in class and then on the final day of kindergarten she just up and stated ‘i’m all teached now. i don’t need to be teached anymore. i’m done of being teached.’
once when i was 19, I told my little cousin that i was 19 and she looked up at me with huge eyes and went, “Does that mean you don’t have to bring an adult with you to the pool?”
My 6 year old cousin saw me driving for the first time, looked up at him mom and said “does that mean she is married now?”
I watched my dad and my niece (3 at the time) arguing over a pair of pants and whether or not they were also a dress. My neice’s argument was that they were, in fact, also a dress because they were blue.
I asked the kids in my daycare class what they thought I should be for Halloween and this little boy goes, “ooh I know! A pickle! You’d be such a good pickle”
On the first day of class with my favorite student of all time, I said, “Are you okay? You look like you have a question.” And she looked me right in the eyes and said, tremulously,
“Can a piranha eat a stapler?”
One time I was working with a kid and he looked up at me and asked “Do you have a boy?” I had no idea what he was talking about, but I told him that I did not have any boys. He looked shocked and then deeply concerned and said “Well, you better hurry up and shave your arms so you can get married; August is next month!”
I was sitting on the floor with my 3yo niece and we were playing with her younger brother’s alphabet blocks and the O had an octopus on it. So I picked it up and asked her what it was.
“Octopus,” she said, all curls and smiles.
“And what kind of animal is an octopus?” I asked. I was looking for “fish” or “sea creature” but I would have accepted almost anything–”weird,” “gross,” even “slimy.” “Underwater” or “it lives in the ocean” would have also been acceptable.
She looks me right in the eye and says, happy as a clam, “It’s a cephalopod.”
I haven’t been the same since.
I was sitting for a 7-year-old once who firmly believed that his history teacher, a young woman in her mid twenties, had lived through all the times she was teaching about and that she was just sharing stories about her friends.
a few days ago my baby sister (she’s almost three) was “playing” a board game with my mom involving a card with a beetle on it. she said “it’s a spider”, my mom explained “no, it’s a beetle. spiders have eight legs”. after some back and forth, my sister looked my mom dead in the eyes and said “okay. you can pretend it’s a beetle if you want.”
one day my 7 year old niece looked me in the eyes and said “not today, maybe not tomorrow, but it’s coming” with absolutely no context

Poodles are not French by origin. They’re German dogs, but French nobility quickly became fascinated by these pooches
i’m so glad i made this post
Greyhounds are the only breed mentioned by name in the Bible.
When you pet a dog, both you and the dog experience a release of oxytocin. Petting dogs objectively makes you both happier
Dog’s nose prints are just as unique as human finger prints !
Corgis were bred for herding cows.
Dogs’ eyes contain a special membrane, called the tapetum lucidum, which allows them to see in the dark.
Kangal dogs guard flocks (other dogs do the actual herding) and don’t have to be trained because they pass the knowledge down through generations. They will take up advantageous lookout positions, rotate watches, patrol the perimeter, and use a special bark to summon the other dogs and form a wall to drive off an encroaching bear.
Huskies, especially Siberians, will travel in a circle around humans, dogs and other animals to protect them from predators. The radius is usually large enough that they can find threats and chase them off before they even return to your line of sight. They will also chase bears and aren’t always smart enough to stop chasing them.
Labradors are bred to have a soft bite so they can capture a hunter’s kills without damaging them.
IM SO GLAD YOU MADE THIS POST
Poodles were bred as water retrievers, and the poofy haircuts they’re sometimes given were originally designed for practical purposes. They’re shaved so the wet hair wouldn’t weigh them down, except in areas that need the insulation if they’re swimming in cold water: poofs around the joints to prevent them from stiffening up, hair around the chest to keep the vital organs warm (and sometimes also a small saddle of hair over the kidneys, too), hair around the head because the head is where most animals lose a lot of their body heat. I’ve read the the pom on their tails was to make them easier to spot if they dived, but I’m not certain if that’s true.
Pitbulls were originally nanny dogs, and were left alone with children because they would demolish anyone that tried to hurt their precious squishy human friends.
Also spiked collars were originally designed to hurt wolves that attacked sheepdogs.
The Miniature Pinscher is actually an older breed than the Doberman Pinscher, contrary to popular belief. A tax collector (I believe) by the name of Doberman wanted a dog that resembled the little rat-catchers’ small but intimidating look to scare away potential robbers who might target him knowing he was often carrying large sums of money. However, he also wanted a dog that could live quietly and happily with his wife and children, so while they were meant to look fierce, his Dobermans were actually bred to have a very loyal and friendly, but still protective nature.
bull terriers with piebald coats are more likely to be born with partial or complete hearing loss. They are also the only breed of dog with the distinctive triangular eye shape. Despite their muscular appearance they are very playful and great with kids. Most well known for the Spuds MacKenzie bud light dog and the Target dog (both of which have the piebald coat)
The moment the temperature dips below 70 everything changes completely. I can smell again. Colors look nice now. I don’t feel like sleeping all day. I know where nougat comes from.

I can never stop posting this. The narrow minded bible fanatics that just look at one small thing in the bible then feed the world with their hate over it. At the same time they ignore all the other silly laws made by man they claimed were made by god. These gif’s say it all.
REBLOG EVERY TIME
Think about those questions.
I use all of these when people cite the Bible as a source for what standards should be.
Kanye West spoke up against homophobia in hip hop ten years ago
Love can triumph over hate– even in homophobic industries like hip hop. Now, ten years after Kanye set his landmark example, rappers are speaking out against the shooting in Orlando.

The process through which Kanye explains that he wants to symbolically distance himself from homosexuality is the same 'othering' processes employed to ensure the oppression of POC.
