First Impressions || Emma + Andrew || Hogwarts
Not even a week after ending her mentorship with Athena, a new position had become avaliable. It wasn’t another high profile pureblood family for Emma to forge connections with, but after recent experiences with those sorts of families, Emma wasn’t entirely sure she wanted to be associated with them. She wanted to be high in social standing — and by that she meant well off, well known and the type of person who could throw a party that everyone would show up to—, make a good marriage that pleased her parents and play Quidditch. They were her driving ambitions. The McKinnon’s may not have been in the socialite circles she originally wanted, but they were hardly an insignificant family so maybe this mentorship would benefit her more than she thought.
Emma waited patiently outside the Hogwarts library for Andrew to show up. It was too cold to meet outside, and it was a school day so they couldn’t meet in Hogsmeade. Not that Emma minded the library at all, though she would have preferred the other locations. Looking up from her watch, she saw Andrew approaching and smiled at the boy. She hadn’t really known him at all during her years at school — he hadn’t played Quidditch, nor was he fro a family her parents wanted to be in the good graces of — but she was aware of him at least.
"Hi Andrew," she said with a friendly smile. She didn’t really know what she was doing, but she hoped Andrew would be a little easier than Athena was. "I’m Emma and I’m your mentor for as long as you need me. Do you have any questions or anything?"
It had been a while since Andrew had heard from Hestia, his mentor. But when Professor Sprout had called him over and told him that Hestia had left the mentor program and that he'd get a new one he'd not known how to feel about it. He had just started to grow into liking Hestia and she was a Hufflepuff like him which helped a lot.
His new mentor was Emma Vanity. Andrew recognized her name as an ex student and one who hadn't been that much older than he was. Still older of course. He recognized her from the Quidditch field as he'd gone to games. He wasn't sure what to expect from the first meeting with her. He knew she was a Pureblood, of course so was he, but his family wasn't really that well respected in the Pureblood environment. Nonetheless Andrew was open to meeting new people and Emma Vanity was part of that.
He saw her standing by the library and smiled as he approached. "Hi Emma, It's nice to meet you." He shook her hand as he stopped in front of her. "Um, my old mentor and I were working on the practical part of Transfigurations? As I wanted to pick it up faster than I'm currently doing?"
