It was absolutely no secret that Lyra was absolutely strung out. To say the past year had been difficult would have been an understatement. A few days before the new year she had finished writing and recording her new album- the first one she worked on entirely alone. She did the vocals, she did the guitar, drums, bass, hell she even tried editing before a friend physically stopped her from doing so and helped her hire someone to do that part. She was an adult, she could do things herself. She wanted⦠she had to prove that. To herself, to her father⦠everyone. Was it lonely? Exhausting? Taxing in more ways than one and made her want to rip out her hair on multiple occasions? Yes. ⦠what was she thinking again?
Ah. Right. Independancy⦠Well, her line of work didnt⦠usually entail that to this extreme extent. Artists big and small have found great success being solo acts and managers but⦠when she cut ties with her father? ⦠she essentially jumped without a parachute. Sure she knew the basics and how to perform and play all these things but she didnt have what he had. The people. The know-how⦠so. She would just have to learn it all herself. ⦠with admittedly some intervention from some artist friends. She hates to admitt it but not even she could do all the things required to do a cross country tour all alone. Minus the crew setting things up of course.
But if all that stress had been just an appetizer, this was the main course dinner. 2 nights and 1 day before the show and her opening act called to emergency cancel on her. Lyras heart almost stopped. Infact maybe it had, who was to say. She doesnt even remember what they had told her- the blood rushing in her ears was far too loud. Panic set in. She hadnāt had a panic attack this bad in⦠a few years⦠one or two? ⦠maybe it wasnt that long ago but it had been progress! Lyra begged and pleaded over the phone; āIāll double what Iām offering you- Iāll even find someone to cover for your missing guy!ā She had offered them. Through her panic, she tried to remain cordial. Growing up with her father; himself business shrewd had seemed to rub off on her and shine in times like this.
The longer the conversation went on the longer it devolved. It didnt make any sense⦠they kept contradicting themselves and restating the obvious, giving indirect answers- ⦠someone mustāve bought them out. She couldnt help but point fingers at her fatherās company. His idea or no, she had been their best client. They wanted her to fail.
With a scowl, lyra hung up. Raking a hand through her hair, she got up and began to pace. She needed an opening act, she had a set schedule⦠there couldnt just be dead silence. She had no other songs planned to perform. Not to mention sheād potentially lose the audience with all that nothingness.
Biting the inside of her mouth in thought, Lyra stared aimlessly out the window⦠that was it. She was on the west coast, near California and all those places where people come to make it big! There had to be tons of people just clamoring for their chance on stage! Oh! And, she could even get brownie points for supporting an unknown artist. Boom. The perfect plan.
With haste, Lyra grabbed her phone once more and ran to the door, slipping on her shoes and grabbing her keys and purse; still a bit shakey from her panic attack from earlier, lyra had to remember to stop⦠and breathe. Driving while still anxious as she was might not be the best idea. Biting the inside of her mouth again in thought, she just stood there for a moment longer. It wasnt the best idea⦠but it was the fastest one. But⦠just in case⦠Lyra grabbed a pair of gloves from the table next to the door. When she was this stressed she tended to get⦠whatās the word⦠worked up? It was just better to have them and not need them. She didnt want to accidentally hurt something or someone if she was still anxious by the time she found her replacement opening act.
So, with that, lyra exited the upscale hotel and went down to her car. It was the west coast, home of dreamers⦠all she had to do was drive with her windows down. It couldnt be that hard to find an opening act⦠right?
Lyra⦠didnt have a good feeling about this, driving out of the hotel parking lot and out onto the street towards the beach.
Steven Universe, now in his mid-twenties, had been working around Angel City for a few years now. He was a handyman, doing odd jobs building, fixing or cleaning stuff for a fee, and creating connections all around town in the process. One of his best connections were a couple of gentlemen name Michael and Anders, two relocatees who moved from their country of Denmark to the States.
Steven had done some remodeling for them about a year ago. While he hung drywall, a song came on the radio that really got the olā vocal chords going. Before he knew it, he was belting out lyrics, singing to the melody. And his clients? They were intrigued. The man had range, the exact range they wanted for their band.
The Danes soon approached him, offering him the lead vocals of their band. Thus, Warriors of Resistance was born. They were mostly a garage band that ended up doing a few gigs around town at local hole-in-the-wall bars and small venues in the middle of the city.
Fast forward to present day, the band was practicing. Since joining, Steven had taken on the lead guitars along with his other duties while Michael took on the drums. Anders played bass and together, their three-piece band created something magical, at least to Steven. They didnāt have any gigs lined up until next Friday, so it was the perfect chance to get some songwriting and practice in. Ever since joining the band, Steven had been tasked with writing songs for it too.
One such song was a heavier tune that he felt was appropriate for a band like theirs, yet it held deeper meaning for the man fronting it.
āOne, two, three, fourāāĀ Steven shouted into the microphone. Immediately, they all began to jam, their sound echoing down the streets. It was backed by digital instruments not currently featured in their band, produced by programs on their computer. All of it came through the speakers gloriously.
As Lyra drove towards the more coastal areas, she kept her windows reasonably cracked. She didnt want to attract trouble, nor was she intending to get a lung full of god knows what while driving. Sure she wasnt a stranger to aromatics, but she didnt feel like having the rental car smell like it. Knowing her luck they'd somehow find a way to charge her for it or something.
...Her father had taught her a lot in her life... even if he didnt mean to. A few of those very important things were how to listen... and how to spot 'talent'. A gross practice when he did it, ending in either burned bridges or more money than Lyra cared to acknowledge these days. All at the expense of the client of course. It didnt matter what they did, as long as it brought money to them. A practice not only held by her father.
... The lessons she learned would never again be used to hurt. She's done enough already; glancing down at her hands on the wheel before back up ahead of her. Task at hand. Right. She's got this...
It really hadn't been very long. She really needed to stop checking her phone... as if time would suddenly move faster or slower depending on how many times she checked at red lights and stop signs. Her friends texted encouraging words, all failing at quelling her anxieties. What if she was just destined to fail? What if it was that from the very beginning? You can run all you want but things always catch up to you... she had a habit of getting into these feelings when she thought too much. Her friends always dismissed the feelings. It's nothing. Shes being dramatic. She will not fail, theres no such thing as destiny, and the world isnt out to get you.
At the next stop sign, Lyra waited her turn to go in the line of cars before her by checking her phone once more and doing a bit of math. No doubt in her mind at this point she'd just hire the first person with an instrument she saw. You! Kid with a tuba! You're hired! Lyra chuckled at the thought as she came to a fair total; sending it to her group chat to get a second opinion. It barely took a minute and they were all insisting that what she was prepared to offer was too much. Especially for a band she would know nothing about, and likely a rookie band at that. Lyra argued that she was giving that much because she could... and she was desperate. 'Well they dont have to know that!!' Her friends protested vehemently, to which she rolled her eyes. Now setting the phone back down as it came her turn to go.
...not too far away, she could hear music. Tapping her index and thumb along to the rhythm after a moment. ... It got louder and louder... glancing out her window to the left she saw a few houses. Her father always said it was a stupid idea to buy a house on the beach, blah blah. As a kid it always sounded so idyllic but now Lyra despised the idea of tracking in sand constantly.
Driving past the next house... Lyra did a double take and almost gave herself whiplash. U-turn u-turn u-turn u-turn WHERE THE HELL COULD SHE MAKE A LEGAL U-TURN ON THIS ROAD?! A band. Not much but it's pretty... pretty much what she expected of herself. She indeed, immediately go for the absolute first people. Making a legal U-turn and hoping that the sand didnt mess with the undercarriage of the car much...
Wait. She cant just... go up to them... right? Thatd be really sketchy. Maybe she'll park a bit away and walk up all casually. No that would be weirder. Middle ground! Park close. Not too close, not too far but enough that it's a short walk and she doesnt look sketchy walking a long distance to go all the way up to them alone. Yeah. So, parking in that 'perfect' distance... lyra gave herself a brief pep talk; she couldnt just sit here working up the nerve and looking like a weirdo. 'This is part of your job now. You talk to fans and set workers just fine! This is just like that. You're a business lady. Yeah.' One final hesitation... grabbing her phone, wallet and... putting on the wrist-length fabric gloves. Professional. She was a professional, met thousands of people before. Just put on your show face.
Lyra made the 'comfortable distance from her car' walk over to the very source of the music. They were still playing but seemed to be wrapping up the song. Might as well listen to the rest if she was actually going to ask them to perform as the opening act... and she'd rather not be rude anyway. Putting her hands half in her pockets and listening to the music, nodding along to the beat she had picked up from before and rocking on her feet a bit.
Okay. So maybe there was such a thing as destiny after all.
It had been a stressful past few months for Lyra. Just finishing up home-schooling, graduating and coming down from a tour the year prior... never a dull moment it seemed. But summer was the time for breaks. And with recently graduating, it only freed up her schedule more. Unfortunately that meant more time to tour and sing in her fathers eyes. So, to kill two birds with one stone... Lyra had suggested she get a little summer vacation. After all, beaches, ice cream, sleeping in, etc were all great things that could inspire a song. So of course, this put her in the scenic location of beach city. Little town, beaches, shops and even an amusement park. Perfect little summer vacation!..maybe they hadn't had the chance to update their brochure... because... the bustling beachside town was far more alive than it had been there. New fixtures were to be expected of course but the longer Lyra stayed the more new things she noticed. She loved it, dont get her wrong. But she was sort of hoping for something more... relaxed. And definitely not... brightly colored and varying in alien shapes..?
Definitely not what she was expecting.
Exiting the car that brought her to the hotel she'd be staying at for the summer, lyra couldnt help but get lost in her surroundings. Everywhere she looked was just... different. Shes traveled to loads of places and met so many different people but nothing like this! Honestly, she wasn't expecting to actually get any work done, but this was actually starting to inspire her. So, after she put all her luggage in the hotel, checked in and all that... she knew she needed to do some immediate sight seeing.
Armed with her bag and sunglasses, lyra set out to the town on foot... everyone seemed so happy and cheerful... physically colorful and full of life. A fact she couldnt stop thinking about... how were they so... different? She couldnt think of any other word to describe them other than just 'colorful'. But what really got her was the shining gemstones visible on most of them. Lyra had never, not once in her life ever met another person with a gemstone stuck in their body and these people just walked around like it was normal? She felt like her head was spinning.
Gripping her own gem under her shirt subconsciously, Lyra continued walking. Maybe one of the shops here would have an up to date brochure, or guide or map... something. Because from first impressions alone, she could already tell that there was much, much more to all of this than just weird neon people with questionable fashion sense...
He knew better, he always did. Keeping himself locked away and out of anyoneās view was just bound to make people question his whereabouts or his current activites. Considering how āpopularā he was in a broad sense, of course one of his close friends would eventually barge in to break the mold and check on him, so he needed to cut this cycle before it got worse.Soon enough he was throwing on his pink jacket; one of the ones that managed to not get shredded to pieces, and slipped on his shoes ready to head out for the day. He had about 7 to 8 hours before the shapeshifting would strain his body so heād better make the best of it. Sadly he couldnāt do much to hide the semi-noticable extended canines and pink-diamond-shaped pupils, atleast being able to without the spikes and purple splotches that littered his skin when it really got at itās worse. With a soft huff he was descending the stairs by foot since his powers didnāt exactly work as well as they used to, and made his way through the front door.
The distinct smell of salt and ocean smacked him in the face as it always did, the scent only making him wince slightly as he had been copped up in his room for so long, pushing it aside and continuing onwards through the sandy terrain. He planned to visit beach city; maybe grab a bite to eat for the first time in a few days, and then of course visit Little Homeworld to check up on everyone and rest their worries about him; he didnāt want people to worry, and they didnāt need to. To help distract himself he hummed to himself, glancing upwards to see not a single cloud in the sky and a cool breeze keeping the heat at ease; it was a really nice day, and it was helping him feel better about stepping out.The sand was behind him now as he walked up on the broadwalk onto the sidewalk, giving a hopeful smile to anyone in eyesight and stuffing his hands in his pockets out of habit.Ā
There was so much he could do really besides just visiting Little Homeworld; taking the warp pad to momās garden, or visiting the Diamonds back on their planet to check on them as well along with Spinel, and even visiting Jasper didnāt seem like such a bad idea, despite her obvious disagreement to seeing him but he didnāt mind it; Jasper was always a hardheaded gem. The thought made him chuckle as he continued forward, humming more with an upbeat attitude that hadnāt seen the light of day in a long while.
It didnt take long for someone to come up to her first. She was used to people recognizing her for her work in the music industry, and even more used to just striking up a conversation with some random person on the street. But she couldnt help but feel like a deer in headlights now... she felt like a little kid again. Scared people would see right through her or judge her... but the nice gem gave absolutely no indication she- they? Would do anything of the sort.
Lyra introduced herself briefly to the gem, and they did so in return with a cheerful grin. They had got it in one- she was new. But that was okay! A lot of people were new here it seemed. Honestly, lyra was a little startled by the gems over enthusiasm, honesty and warmness. It felt so... different. A welcomed different... one she couldnt help but smile to. Just as the gem gave her a brochure for the town, beginning to explain the different sections and places- the gem stopped and grinned a little; looking past her.Just as she was about to ask for more information, she noticed the gem looking away. 'Oh that's Steven universe!' They'd say, making Lyra turn around. And surely enough... the boy in the near distance was a dead wringer for the one on the front of the paper. Definetly a bit of a local celebrity... The gem waved to him before speaking to Lyra again as she skimmed the paper she was given. 'if you have any big questions I'm sure he'll be able to help you! Or really any other humans here. They're all really nice-' the gem promised her before patting her nicely on the shoulder and walking away.
Lyra looked up again and gave a small wave to the boy. She didnt know why, but even the people here seemed to intimidate her a little... maybe it was something about the whole town itself that made these people so.... kind? Looking back at the brochure one final time to get in as much information in as little time as possible, she read... something about 'the crystal gems' and diamonds and thousand year rules... school? ... one of those things was not like the other. It really only confused her more about the entire place.
He wasn't really paying attention much until he heard his name being said aloud, snapping him out of his small one-man singing in his head and causing him to turn slightly towards it, spotting the two and giving a small smile and a wave in return. He had gotten caught up in his head too much to really realize what was around him as he eyed the other person he didn't recognize; we're they someone new? Maybe a tourist? He wasn't entirely sure .. but he felt like it would be nice to greet them more formally. He usually wasn't so cheerful considering his circumstances as of now, but he decided to roll with it rather than question it; who was he to turn down a good feeling for once?.
Hesitating ever so slightly he then turned his direction and began walking towards the seemingly new person in this small city, catching her off guard a bit as he spoke out. " hey, you a newbie to beach city? " he kept his tone welcoming and carefree, not even caring that some of his features were a bit off from his norm, caring more about making the other feel welcomed.
Lyra was finally meeting the local celebrity- apparently named Steven- face to face. There were a few things different about him in real life compared to the pictures... but she knew that story. Photographers tend to edit and photoshop things to make it look better; she was a victim of the same unrealistic shopping many atime. Though... it was a little odd he had diamond shaped pupils... maybe sharper teeth? She couldnt really tell yet... maybe he was into cosplay. Not the weirdest thing shes ever seen. Especially not today.
"Hi, nice to meet you! ..." lyra paused for a second to laugh slightly, "I guess that's a given... I'm Lyra. It's really nice to meet you. And you're Steven, right?" She asked semi-rhetorically, putting the brochure she had been given in her back pocket before continuing. "It... sounds like you're the person to talk to about... everything?" She laughed slightly, finding that statement a little ridiculous. "I came here for summer vacation but... I was very much not expecting anything like this." Lyra gestured around for emphasis at the various new gems and structures in the distance.
"Not that this isnt all very... interesting to say the least." Lyra added quickly to make sure he knew she wasnt trying to be rude or anything. Though also realizing she may have been taking up his time. She was no stranger to busy schedules and annoying 'newbies.' "But, if you're busy, dont worry about anything. I can find my way around." She gave a confident smile and thumbs up to assure him. Sometimes people feel obligated to help, even when they physically didnt have the time.

I have many nicknames, but one that seems to stick at least in my circle of internet friends is Aesthetic! Feel free to call me variants of that. I'm 18+ years old and female, using female pronouns! My time zone is EST and I tend to be a night owl. I'll be on a lot! That being said, I have long term medical issues going on currently. So if I have to dissapear for unspecified reasons or am not up to roleplay please keep this in mind!
You can either put in an ask to RP or just DM me to RP, I'm fine with whichever.
Id like to brainstorm plots if you want to make a story. 1 on 1 rps can get dull without them and I dont want to just lose interest half way through and give you less of an experience cause I can't get into it.
I reserve the right to deny roleplay requests and OCs if I think I'll be uncomfortable with the plot or character. That being said...
Characters! Please don't make them OP. Good, well rounded characters have flaws and limits to what they can do. So keep that in mind.
Dont try and manipulate me or my character. Wether in rp or out of rp. I've got this. And if I think you're trying to manipulate things to happen that I'm not okay with, I will shut that down immediately.
I'm down to play nearly any kind of genre. But there are some things I will not do, which I will list now
Any extremely graphic self-harm, harm of others or abuse of others sexually. Additionally, I love angst! It can be extremely emotionally impactful for the story we're trying to tell! But I dont want it ALL the time. It really overwhelms me. So let's balance it out with some good times, alright?
Kissing, hugging, holding hands, etc I'm all good with that. But if we do anything 18+ YOU need to be 18+. I myself am, and I do not feel comfortable if you're not. I'd also like to slowly build up to that. I don't want to just immediately jump into it.
If you have any further questions dont hesitate to ask!!
Birth name was Andromeda. This was later changed to lyra koralia

Pansexual.

Pop/alt-star.
Apperance Specifics

Wavey, dark brown shoulder length hair. This tends to change often.
Scars, physical alterations:
She has many small scars littered about her body. Many are still very visible. She has triple ear piercings and a few medium/small tattoos along her upper back and shoulders.
Personal specifics
Gem placement:
Solar plexus.
Weaknesses:
her powers do not work as intended when under pressure. When experiencing extreme panic or distress she even tends to do more harm than good, and this is thanks to past trauma build up.
Strengths:
shes better at dodging and staying out of the way; or running when it comes to any nonhuman combat. But against human foes, especially ones like crazy stalkers or fans she doesnt really hold back. She'll feel responsible for the entire interaction and feel terrible for getting her friends in danger.
Beliefs and morals:
She doesnt have any religious or spiritual beliefs. But her morals can get... questionable. She never had a good rolemoddle she could look up to, but she does try to judge situations, people etc fairly.
Powers?:
as a baby and toddler, her powers were positive. But since she had no idea how to use them she never really knew what they were. For example however, her positive powers wouldve allowed for;
clarity of mind, good luck, vitality. The majority of these powers are to use on others and aid them. Vitality for example to boost the pre-existing power of another; or speed up the growth of organic material. Clarity of mind would generally allow the person to shake away mind control with little issue and generally keep focus on the task at hand; and be better at said task. Her vitality and clarity of mind would allow for complete regeneration of energy emotionally and physically.
That being said, the only powers shes known have been the opposite. Growing up in a toxic household having this effect on her. Her vitality giving became taking; especially from organic objects. This one is the most prominent and can lead to death if contact persists. The only other prominent swap is mind clarity, and also requires contact. Effectively giving the person tunnel vision, migraine etc. Disabling the person for quite a while after.
Ambitions/dreams:
Get famous enough so that she makes enough money to become self reliant. Her father, studios and managers have micromanaged her entire life, and shes ready to be rid of them. Seeing them like leeches who only want her for the money. So she'll get enough to keep them away and to live comfortably doing what she loves.
Likes:
strawberry lemonade, sprinkle cookies, rap music, super hero movies.
Dislikes:
she generally doesnt like a lot of people shes met in her life. Her older albums and songs shes sung/performed in general she doesnt like either. They were all mostly her fathers idea.
Backstory part 1...
Centuries ago, millions of light years away, existed a planet abundant in life. From vegetation, to living, breathing alien life flourished on the planet. Millions of years of evolution gave way to more intelligent life... from animals to humanoid beings.
It had been a day just like any other when it all began. The beginning of the end.
Something in the very core of the planet had took it's time. The planet grew and flourished, becoming a vessel for new resources and extraordinary new life for years only for it to be feul... feul for something growing deep within the planet...
Decay grew and spread like a wild fire. All life, from organisms big and small, were wiped off the face of the planet. Their energy fueling the growing, glittering center of the now desolate world. By the time it was clear what this being was, it was far too late.
The planet had split in half... and a diamond was born. Raw, uncut and without purpose. A brand new being unburdened with such responsibility... but something within her ached. She was alone. She was void. No directive, no people... and yet... whatever you could call her 'heart' burned with sadness. the diamond hadn't just taken the resources and left it at that.
she wrung out every essence the planet and its beings had. atom by atom she took it for her own. it was nigh impossible to remember it all... but the feeling was there. Their pain, fear and sadness... she could still feel it all. And worst of all... she was alone in the feeling.
The broken ground shook with her sadness. she had no concept of how long she had wept... but in time... someone had found her. Beings like her... diamonds. Gem like begings... White and yellow diamond, she knew them to be... they gave her purpose... and told her what she was to be. She was a diamond. Green diamond... and she would aid them in their expansion of an empire.
Truth be told... Green adored her fellow diamonds. The overwhelming sadness she once felt was muted in their presence. Especially whites. But... she knew she didnt quite belong. Not like the rest did at least... She didnt have a court like yellow and blue. She was more... judge, jury and executioner.
Any and every misbehaving beings came to her. When they were found guilty, she... gave them a higher purpose. Draining them of their energy and repurposing it for future use. Green took pride in her work... even when she had to do the worst parts. Taking energy... redistributing consciousness... she could feel their fear, their pain... but also their Hope's. What little dreams they had.
For a long time... Green did her job. She was a well of untapped power, ready to redistribute and use for whatever the other diamonds saw fit... It was only a matter of time until the diamond decided she couldnt take it anymore.
Green diamond was a mystery. As the years went by, the demand in power from the rest began to Bog her down. White had a feeling something like this would happen.
She wasnt like them. She wasnt born for their empire, there fore without a purpose... without the innate instructions that every gem below white was. Even diamonds like yellow and blue were born with purpose and slight instruction. Her creation was a complete mystery and white wasnt too keen on letting the secret out that something had happened without her ordering it or putting it in motion. Especially something as powerful as a diamond.
...
So white gave her a job.
One so insignificant and simple that even she wouldnt be able to complain about it. One so out of the way that no one would run across, think about, or hear of the obscurity of green diamond... ever again.
Thus marked the beginning of Era 2.
Centuries once again passed. Green never bothered to regain contact with her fellow diamonds. And it wasnt hard to catch onto what white wanted. She was smarter than that.
Clarity of mind... a quality she possessed... allowing for a unique perspective... an alien perspective on the empire. The only flaw?... she was alone again. And while years passed in the blink of an eye for a diamond... it was all the more horrible for the alien of aliens. She'd overhead once... that she could act as a diamond all she wanted. It didn't make her like them. And without direction? She had no idea where to begin again. So for centuries longer, green allowed herself to surrender to the loneliness.
Enter the rebellion. No small feat, for sure. A tiny rose quartz against the diamond authority? How absurd. But with the shattering of pink diamond... all hell broke loose. Her decaying ship, even in its state got the frenzied news. Her ship usually didnt get broadcasts like that. And... she was horrified. She wanted to be mournful for the being she never got to meet...
But she felt nothing of the sort.
Only liberation.
Someone had changed. They were different. Alien and yet looked just like a gem. For the first time in a long time... green had met another being like her.
There wasnt room for something like her... so they were making room.
The organic diamond was never one for fighting. And she counted her Lucky stars that she hadn't been on earth at the time of the corruption. She couldnt help but be morbidly fascinated with its effects... years on and off world taking various forms-after all, the giant natural one she held would no doubt raise suspicion. And stars forbid someone were to be from era 1 and know her.- taking special intrest in corrupt gems and attempting to understand them.
She would always feel so close... close to understanding what was at its core. Its chaos, and unhinged nature... it all reminded her of herself upon emerging.
And throughout it all... the earth grew. And it was a sight that brought tears to her eyes. It felt... so much like her home. The feeling of organic life, every organism living and breathing and feeling all in different ways even moment to moment... It was the feeling of home.
She could never stay away... from decade to decade she watched the world figure so many new things out. Things she didnt think could have such life and emotion behind them and yet they found a way. Her love and compassion for every little thing had no boundaries.
And it extended into her friendships... and eventually... her love life.
In truth, green diamond had only known one partner. It took her a long time to understand love like this... to love someone so exclusively, to want to be with them and protect them-- even when you disagreed and even in the worst of times... it was something so profound to her.
... and then that love allowed for growth.
Something bigger than her... than her partner... a baby.
Her own creation, completely unique. A beating heart and soul. No expectations, but limitless possibilities... a being given a place in a world befitting her.
Backstory part 2.
When Andromeda Korelia was born, her mother died.
The experience was less than pleasant for all parties involved. In allowing a human to be created, green gave up her power and form and used her consumption of energy to feul the human to be. The loss of energy over time was nothing compared to the suddenness of it all. And the new born baby andromeda, much like her mother... woke up crying.
Andromedas father truly did try his best to be there for his daughter. They had no idea what would happen when they tried for a baby but this... isnt what they were expecting. Sure. Mothers die giving birth sometimes. But... he couldnt help but feel regret. If they had known for certain... would they have ever had her?
Greif weighed on him and plagued the man relentlessly- made worse by the fact that his daughter held her mothers gem. A glimmer of her eyes and smile...
And then it was too much.
Orphaned at the age of 5, Andromeda spent one year in the foster care system until she was adopted by a single man. He was firm in his ways, but... gentle. He provided a comfortable life, being an agent for the stars. He changed her name to Lyra upon adoption and only a few years later, she was put into classes.
Now, most people would be put off by the gemstone on a child's solar plexus to say the least. And when neither doctors nor the system had answers as to what exactly that thing was... the man now known as lyras father had to... improvise.
A glittering natural green diamond. Like an angel from the heavens marked by the divine. It was a gimmick. Something to sell not just merchandise... but her. And From ballet to piano, tap to acting there was nothing he wouldnt have her try. Until she was 8 years old, when she got a small part in a commercial for leotards. Then again in a commercial for children's shoes... and around 10 she played a child in a daytime sitcom on a family friendly channel, who only broadened her horizons.
A year later, in a bit part she would be heard singing on the show... which would launch her into her music career.
Music videos, straight to on-air exclusive feature length 'movies' starring Lyra and her musical talents all coming to ahead when she left the acting world to persue her music full time at the age of 15 upon her fathers recommendation. Up until she was 17, she had people writing her songs and controlling what she did on and off air. Lyra was miserable. The few children her age never got along with her for too long, and the adults... well. When they weren't down right creepy- they were just that. Adults. She had no one her age to connect to.
Her father micromanaged every aspect of her young life leading to bitter fights and screaming matches. And simply put; emotional and psychological abuse were the norm for her.
Around the same time she went to persue music, lyra got into her first relationship with a boy who had been drumming for her songs. At the time he had been two years older than her.
... she didn't know what was normal and expected of relationships. She let him get away with anything and everything... until he went a little too far.
... Lyra had almost killed him that night. He tried to do something unspeakable. And the gem- for the longest time a useless accessory unknown and foreign to her- glowed an angry green.
He made a grave mistake touching her.
Panic flooded her system as her powers went into overdrive. She didnt know what she did, or how she did it. The only thing she remembers of that moment was the adrenaline, fear and disgust.
Her father wouldnt tell her what became of the boy. But she knew it involved a hefty amount of money... because he never let her forget it.
These days, she writes her own songs and tries to distance herself as much as possible from her father. She prefers to be alone but thrives on the positive attention of her audience.
