I need you to make sure my soon-to-be former family doesn’t find out before Ted and I can graduate and leave it all behind. Whether you have to cause more of a ruckus than you have already or just keep your mouth shut, I need you to make sure they don’t find out.

Andromeda walked out of the bathroom, wiping her mouth on a handkerchief. It was the fifth time she had thrown up that morning. Tucking the cloth into her bag, Andy made her way to her next class. The shuffling of feet echoed around the corridor, making her head pound. She had always thought of pregnancy in the later stages, with the kicking feet and round belly. Not the one with all the morning sickness and the headaches. Keeping her head down and praying silently that no one knew, Andromeda rushed forward only to run into someone going the other direction.

As she fell to the ground with her stomach exposed, a small cry escaped her lips in fear. I can’t lose you too, she thought. Sticking her arms out, Andy broke her fall and crashed hard onto her hands and knees. A small crack came from her left wrist, and Andy heard a worried voice through her pain. “I’m so sorry,” she apologized through gritted teeth.

Because I understand your burning desire to get out of the family, I really do, but what are you going to do? Your word that until I begin to show, you know nothing of this. Your word that you will protect me and my child until we’re safe, because, let’s face it, we’re the ones getting you out of this engagement. Do I have your word?

Telling Ted/ Self-Para/ Andromeda

Ever since that one night of intense passion, Andy and Ted had been sneaking more time together. From kissing in broom closets to brushing hands in the hallways, the two had been pushing the boundaries of her engagement. Dipping into the flames couldn’t be that dangerous, could it? But it was.

After slipping him a note, Andromeda found herself sitting in an empty classroom waiting. The pregnancy test in her hands, she swung her feet from the desk directly across from the door. When Ted entered the room, he ran over and out his hands on her shoulders. Opening his mouth to speak, Andy covered his mouth with her hand. “Don’t talk,” she enforced. “Just listen before you start to jump ahead with this.” Placing the white stick in his hands, Andy sighed and said, “I’m pregnant. It’s yours.” She had expected him to jump for joy or yell at her or walk away or start rambling on. What she hadn’t expected him to do was pass out on the stone floor.

Rushing over, Andromeda lifted his head into her lap as he woke. “What are you going to do, An?” he questioned rubbing the back of his head. Tears pooled in her eyes as she whispered hopelessly, “I don’t know.”
