Black ppl deserve to feel safe and welcomed on the internet, on fandoms on whatever community or hobbies they want without having to deal with antiblack racist attacks, microaggressions or enablers of antiblackness . And if u genuinely consider urself to be left leaning or an ally or woke you should do and try to unlearn the colorism, texturism , eurocentrism and antiblackness
My woke take, as someone who has worked in both a public library and a school library, is that we desperately need both more books that are at a higher reading level but a less mature subject matter, and more books that are at a lower reading level but a more mature subject matter, because 8 year olds who are advanced readers are still 8 year olds and don't want to read about graphic violence and torture, and teens and adults who have learning difficulties or who are just later readers for whatever reason are still teens and adults and don't want to read about Billy the Bunny going to school or whatever the hell.
TLDR: this white queer person tried to hold other white queer people accountable for their racism and they DID NOT LIKE THAT

Watched a video titled “Anti-Blackness in Girly Media” and it was really insightful we would highly recommend giving it a watch. Everyone talks about important topics that sorta ripple through each other (aka the Butterfly Effect) and tie them back to their own personal experiences about how Anti-Blackness in girly media affected their childhood and perceptions even up to now.

Not sure if you've seen it yet, but there's a popular medical YouTuber, Doctor Mike, who had another Black doctor, Doctor Bayo, on his podcast. She talked about medical racism from both sides and her experience with childbirth despite being a doctor herself.
Just an interesting watch in reference to the book club reading of Medical Apartheid!

Ever since Dr. Green-Smith passed away during childbirth as a whole midwife, it really just sunk in further that you can even be educated in how these doctors are supposed to treat you and still fall prey. Like, education can't save you from a system that legit does not believe in your pain nor care if you die. And it's not like that's not something I didn't already know (Sandra Bland was when that one hit me) but it really just... It never stops hurting, I guess.
