Cosmere Characters at Mount Doom with the One Ring
As requested by @karlathewitch :)
In what I suppose is some sort of Lord of the Rings / Cosmere crossover, we're going to imagine that Cosmere characters have possession of the One Ring and are on the very slopes of Mount Doom, within seconds of throwing it into the fires that forged it in order to destroy it forever. But...will they?
On the very edge of the volcano, Kaladin--much like Frodo--realizes that he cannot bear to part from the ring. Luckily, Lezian appears out of nowhere and bites off his finger, so it all works out.
Vin knows how to make the ultimate sacrifice to stop a malignant power. She's throwing herself bodily into the volcano, ring and all.
Hrathen, having collapsed, is carried up the mountain by his loyal servant Dilaf, who may not be able to carry the ring, but who can carry him. Upon reaching the top, Dilaf then tosses Hrathen into the volcano and steals the ring. Whoops.
Tress meant to destroy the ring, but now she and the ring are such great friends, so how could she destroy it? It's her friend! Her precious, precious friend... Tress, nooooo!
Hoid has never touched the ring is nowhere near the mountain. He handed the ring off to a mortal, Gandalf-style. Otherwise, it would be Evil Hoid's world.
Marasi, having experienced Ultimate Power by way of the ring, is like, "Eh, I'm good" and throws it into the volcano.
Kenton realizes that he is not strong enough to destroy the ring. Then his dad shows up and is like "Wow, I knew you wouldn't be strong enough to destroy the ring" and Kenton throws it in immediately out of pure spite.
Taravangian pretends to throw in the ring, but it's really just a replica he had made. He's keeping the ring forever.
Navani is DEFINITELY not in a toxic yuri relationship with the ring. It's just so powerful and cool and sure it's probably evil but it's also really powerful and probably useful and also very hot.
Rather than destroy the ring, Nomad figures he can just keep running forever to make sure his enemies don't get a hold of it. That just feels right.
Ann decides not to throw the ring into the volcano--she can't bear to do it, in the end. Instead, she drops it right back into her pocket. Or tries to. Thankfully she misses and the ring falls into the volcano anyway.
All right, Tolkien nerds. What would happen if Nightblood ate the One Ring? Because that is definitely what happens here.
