@ange1blade
yeah ok
started chapter 2 last night, my take on noelle... !!
princess ralsei! 🎀🎀
okay for real though can we just admit carol and the knight aren't actually working together. can we 8e for f8cking real with ourselves? why would carol 8e "in" on it when she has the same conspiracy 8oard situt8ion as asgore, that asgore knows a8out and feels comforta8le enough to just waltz into her room and stare at. why would that conspiracy 8oard not have "working with the person who keeps opening fountains" on it? does she have an incomplete conspiracy 8oard in her room for asgores sake? also why would she trick asgore and plan on kidnapping him when they have likely known each other for over a decade at this point and so close that she's helping him out financially when he's in dire str8s. am i supposed to just 8elieve the woman who's so sentimental she 8ronzed her daughters paper snowflakes she's willing to just let asgore get killed? and y'know that's also something that i feel like should've 8een considered when it came to the fact the knight is clearly pursuing toriel. sure everyone THINKS the knight was after undyne, and toriel was just a fake out. 8ut then the very next chapter it went right to the church DURING choir practice and likely would've taken toriel had it not 8een for the rain and sans making her decide to cancel it. and then the only reason it went for asgore next was cuz that fountain wasn't opened 8y it, meaning it prolly just stum8led across the fountain and went "oh f8ck asgore" so like, am i supposed to just 8elieve carol would sacrifice toriel? when they knew each other for prolly dess and noelle and kris and asriel's entire f8cking lives and used to share christmas's together and at most likely only have a strained rel8tionship cuz of the dess disappearance and what's going on with asgore? again, someone as sentimental as carol would just kill someone she prolly knew since she was collage aged? what, has carol just 8een lying to literally everyone, her daughter, toriel, asgore, her f8cking hus8and and dess's father a8out the fact that "hey i found dess 8ut she's kind of weird and evil and a shadow creature 8ut i'm gonna try to fix her"???????? sure you can point to evidence all you want, 8ut you have to consider the counter evidence. and if we also take into account the idea that queen is reflective of how carol is around noelle, she is someone loving and well meaning even if she's real over8earing and controlling 8ut in the end genuinely cares for the people around her. and she's just gonna kill asgore and toriel? sacrifice them? and has set up a fake conspiracy 8oard for asgore to look at for enrichment i guess?
what this all implies for the idea kris is like, literally directly working for the knight like they're 8uddies they have a group chat they text each other in, i don't even wanna get into i think it's hard enough trying to suggest to people "hey may8e the mean older woman isn't literally satan and that's the false perception of her you were meant to see past and find she's surprisingly the oppos8 of what she appears to 8e cuz that's gap moe as f8ck"
forgot to posr here
I rarely draw armor but this was my best attempt
I feel like one day im gonna crash out about how theorists treat susie
the girl has no stable home or family or food and mfers act like she just wants to groundhog day loop the world
her entire LIFE has been defined by losing things, because she's been powerless to stop it!!!!! and it's about to happen again because of the prophecy and the knight!!!!!!!
when susie wishes for each day to be like the last, she's not wishing for eternity or escapism from reality
she's wishing for STABILITY
how do these people lack the empathy and compassion to see that susie lacks so much and all she desperately wants is to be able to hold onto what little happiness she has
let the damn girl have hope
I forgot about Tumblr uhhh here's some art
I did have a slight artstyle change..
the knight and noelle?
Thanks for the request〜❄️
Its not "ignoring reality" for an abused, neglected teenager to avoid going to their house where they arent safe and most definitely arent cared for. Thats a kid doing what they can for their own safety and well being.
Susie even tries to feed herself in the Light World in what ways she can when she has no money due to her caretakers, so its not like shes ignoring her own need for food, its just that shes a teenager that cannot exactly provide for herself yet! Sleeping over in Castle Town isnt depriving her of anything that she would otherwise get in the Light World.
Susie isnt going to starve because she spends the nights in Castle Town when she wasnt getting fed at "home" anyway, and shes not only just as excited for the Festival in the Light World, shes also rightfully concerned and taken aback when the flower shop Fountain is opened. We are very distant from chapter 2 where she got excited at the librarby fountain.
"But using Castle Town is keeping her from trying to improve her situation!" And what exactly could Susie, who is poor, a minor, and a social outcast who the mayor openly dislikes, do about her situation in the Light World? What exactly are the options here that you think she isnt taking?
Is she supposed to confront her abusers as if that wouldnt most likely end with retaliation? If Queen is a parallel to Carol, King is clearly a parallel to Susie's guardian, and what do we see when Lancer tries to talk to his dad in chapter 1? Is she supposed to run away and, what, stay with Toriel forever? What happens when her parents finally notice and have a physical place they can track her down to? They still have legal custody, theres only so much Toriel could do even if Susie told her, which she isnt going to do right now because Toriel just (accidentally and with zero bad intentions) made Susie uncomfortable and unwilling to talk to her. Susie only resorts to sleeping in the Dark World once her one Light World option no longer feels safe to her!
What other adults could she talk to? Undyne is a cop and has been kidnapped. Asgore is an ex cop who cannot pay rent, neglected his own family, and also just got kidnapped. Alphys is openly afraid of her. Rudy is dead or dying. Again, the mayor straight up dislikes her and told her to get out of her house.
And even if she did tell a trusted adult, what could they do right now? Call CPS on her parents? Even if that did something and didnt just end up with retaliation from her guardian(s), she might just be sent into foster care (if she isnt already!) and get moved away from the support network Susie's been building. This might even have already happened, as we know Susie used to move around a lot and that whenever she did make friends, she'd have to move away. That is exactly the scenario she wants and needs to avoid here!
Susie isnt a hero in the Light World and she cant exactly enter a rpg battle with her abusers to easily improve her situation. In the Light World, she is a poor, ostracized teenager with zero power over the adults in her life. Sometimes the best an abused kid can do is keep themselves as safe as possible until they get a real opportunity to get out. That's not a delusion, its a pragmatic way of handling a complicated situation that doesnt have any easy answers.
This isnt even touching on what this whole interpretation would imply for the Darkners and the Dark Worlds themselves or how contradictory it is to Ralsei's character arc.
I think some people are ctrl c + ctrl v'ing the same tropes/themes from other stories with fantasy worlds without thinking critically about what this specific story is actually telling us. Theyre not analysing Deltarune's themes, theyre remembering half a dozen books/movies where the kids have to go back to the "real world" at the end and completely ignoring the ways in which Deltarune subverts that and plays with those expectations. You cant just apply the "generic fantasy themes and ending" interpretation to a video game made by Mr. Genre Subversion and expect it to work!
i am susie deltarune… i like sealing fountains too…
