Having actually seen the 42 hour review video in question, this is such a bad example to use. Quinton Reviews’ whole deal is making absurdly long in-depth reviews of random kids media and related merchandise because it’s ridiculous to talk 12+ hours about them. Like… I know this is the piss on the poor website, but y’all gotta get better at recognizing satire.

* For those wondering why the video is so long, it’s an episode by episode analysis of not only the Beverly Hillbillies, but also everything connected to it (for example, an episode by episode review of every show that crossed over with it, such as Petticoat Junction).

you people love to say things like "satire" and then not substantiate the claim. how is it satire? i saw his icarly and victorious reviews out of morbid curiosity and his discussions were surface-level "i liked this" or "i didn't like this" comments. satire implies he is satirizing the video essay genre, but he hasn't demonstrated the intellect or creativity in the past to do so. i'm not watching a 40+ hour video from someone i don't even value the opinion of very much, my time is way more valuable to me than that.

it's literally not even that serious, but some of you have gotten so weirdly pearl-clutchy about being told a 40+ hour discussion of the beverly hillbillies in 2026 is largely a waste of time (people have called this conservative rhetoric in the replies? somehow?) like, you're allowed to waste your time, you don't have to defend it to me. i am not the arbitrator of what you should and should not do with your life. but i am going to side-eye you if you find this to be a better usage of your time than listening to an audiobook, listening to a new album, watching a movie, etc.

like 40+ hours is an exceptionally large amount of time to sacrifice in my life rn. that's a whole week of work. i would never want to waste that so flippantly. but whatever.
