Heyo, Angel here!

I was bred by HYDRA as part of their Angel Experiments. Their work resulted in the successful graft of avian and human DNA. As far as I know, I’m the only Angel left.

It took seeing the world to realize they were feeding me lies my whole life. I refuse to be their soldier any longer. I’m trying to find myself now.

ooc ~backstory stuff~ to set the scene

Angel#F07 is part of HYDRA’s Angel Experiments, an attempt to splice human and avian DNA to create flying soldiers. Most tests were unsuccessful. Four others survived past infancy, but later died. Subject #F07 is, as far as she is aware, the only Angel still alive.

She was never put in cryo, but due to some interaction between the human and avian DNA, she hasn’t aged much after reaching maturity. She looks ~20-25, but she was first deployed only about 10 years after the Winter Soldier. When she was in HYDRA, she would often be sent on missions as backup to the Winter Soldier, who would be her superior in the field.

Having been raised in HYDRA, all her conditioning was social, not medical. She didn’t need anything wiped or re-written because she was already a blank slate for HYDRA to mold as they liked. The issue with this was that because Angel was in control of her own mind, she was often sent on missions that required more thinking than just following orders. Spending so long out of HYDRA’s direct influence exposed her to a lot of new ideas about the world. When the internet became widespread, Angel adapted quicker than her handlers. She learned a lot before her handlers ever thought to put restrictions on her access. This sowed the first seeds of doubt which eventually ended in her escaping HYDRA.

She hid out in a bit of woods, and made her home there, mostly off-grid, unbothered by other people. She learned to be self-sustaining, only ever going into a town for clothes and tools she couldn’t make herself. She managed to stay off HYDRA’s radar, though there’s always this little bit of paranoia in the back of her head.

Green text means that this RP thread is one where Angel is still with HYDRA. This could be an AU where she never left, or in the past before she did.

A lot of RPs will probably take place in some nebulous future where she lives in the open and pretends she’s a mutant.

I’m still working on nailing down Angel’s personality so bear with me 😓

My general guideline is the closer in time she is to HYDRA, the more nervous, aggressive, and unfriendly she is. She’s working out who she is and what she’s capable of, outside of HYDRA, and how the world around her works. She is… not good at it. 

Eventually she gets better at the whole social interaction thing, but she retains this caution that often presents as aggression. 

Also sometimes she just… lies. General rule: any posts tagged “info” are true. Anything else may or may not be

OPEN RP - Obedence Training

This rp is a continuation to This opener, but may also be used as a stand alone starter. Read the tws in the tags. Don't make this weird. This is not a sexual rp thread.

Marcus often spoke about the importance of obedence. He judged quite heavily when another agent or handler refered to an assit as fully trained, but then had to worry about disobedience. From his point of view, an unbroken assit was nothing more than a liability.

Which was what his current focus with his most recent assit is. He had spent a month or so breaking them down, and now, he had begone what he called "Obedence Training". They were never separate from him, and unless he gave them a direct command, they were expected to be sitting on their knees at his side. If they failed to do this of their own accord, they were punished harshly.

All of their food and water came from him. He fed them only if they had earned it, and even then they had to beg for it. Food wasn't a right, it was a reward.

Most of the day, Marcus had spent his time ignoring the assit. He went to meetings, drank coffee, read over reports, typed up information, drank coffee, and went over mission logs as he might on any other day. Now, he headed into one of the training rooms. Fairly small as far as the rooms went, it had dark stone walls with thick glass windows set into them, allowing people to watch without risking injury. A table is set against one wall, and a chair next to it.

Marcus walks over to the chair and sits down, taking out his pocket knife and spinning it in his fingers.

Angel#F07 tucks herself quietly beside the chair, head straight forward and hands clasped in her lap. Her wings pull at her shoulders and neck as they lay out behind her and she’s glad that the room is free from the danger of wandering feet. Not glad, F07. Assets aren’t glad, they don’t feel.

F07 tracks the shine of the knife out of the corner of her eye. It’s not a threat, because her Handler is holding it, and her Handler is not a threat. Regardless, as the weapon in the room, she keeps an eye on it.

After a moment, he holds the knife out towards her, giving her the type of twisted smile that never had kind intentions behind it. Not that it mattered. Assits don't need kindness.

"Take it. I want to see you bleed."

F07 takes the handle of the knife. It’s a test. It’s always a test. What the parameters are though, F07 doesn’t know. Does he want to know if she’ll hurt herself for him? Of course she will. He’s her Handler, she’d do whatever he told her to. Or is this more about how she’ll do it? She probably hesitated too long if that’s the case. 

She leans back so her Handler can see better and drags the knife across her arm, below the elbow. It’ll be the least inconvenience when healing. She’s gotten disciplined before for damaging herself, when she sprained her ankle and had to stop training until it healed. This wound shouldn’t put too much of a delay on whatever schedule her Handler wants her on. 

She watches the blood well up and drip down the curve of her arm. It lands on her pants, dark drops on dark fabric. She misjudged. The cut was deeper than she intended. This will not heal nicely.

Marcus's face darkens, and he grabs her by the wrist, yanking her to her feet as he stands up. His other than grabs the knife, tossing it down on the table, the clattering sharp and loud in the empty room.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?" He snarls. "I said bleed, not create a laceration. That could get infected."

F07 lets herself be pulled up. She hisses slightly as the movement pulls at the wound, but doesn’t fight. She messed up, misjudged. Tried to do it right but made everything worse. Except it doesn’t matter what she tried to do, because what she did was damage herself. Again.

The last thing she wants to do now is make herself talk, but her Handler asked her a question. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me, sir. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to cut that deep.”

"Tch. Stupid bird." He yanks her harshly down the hall, as if his own actions weren't making the bleeding much worse. Ignoring the concerned or amused looks from the other people they pass, he takes her to the med bay and glances around. "You know how to deal with that yourself?"

At this point, F07 is used to being pulled around. Even though she would follow as closely as her Handler told her to. She’s used to being in pain. For some reason, this hurts worse.

She orients herself when they get to the medbay and checks that the kit she’d need is on the wall where it should be.

“Yes sir. I do.”

"Then deal with it!" He snaps, letting her go and crossing his arms tight over his chest. He needed more coffee to deal with this bird. Obviously one could argue that it wouldn't have happened if he hadn't suggested she hurt herself in the first place, but that was a useless point to make. He didn't care.

She nods and moves to do so. The blood has slowed, but not stopped flowing. She needs more than bandages. But her hands are not as steady as a doctor’s. She would do more damage than good. It would be painful.

There are alternatives. There is a glue in the box, and enough pressure and bandages should stop the bleeding. Or, at the very least, stop it from spilling more blood onto the floor.

It takes longer than it should to fix it, she knows that. She’s out of practice, and unused to bandaging her own wounds. She helps her siblings with theirs, but they patch her up in return, or a real doctor fixes the worst injuries. She hasn’t had to fix one of her own wounds in a long time.

He watches for a bit while she struggles before huffing and moving away from the door, grabbing her arms and actually looking at the wound she's been trying to bandage. He frowns and lets her go, stepping back to radio for an actual medic to come and stitch her up.

He watches the medic carefully clean and stitch the wound closed before wrapping it in bandages. The expression on his face suggests that she has not heart the end of it. Indeed, it will be along time before she does.

F07 keeps her lips pressed tight together and her gaze down. She messed up. She messed up bad, she damaged herself. Again. Not your body, don’t damage what isn’t yours to break.

Her vision blurs slightly and —no, not now, not now, please not— she’s crying. It’s been years since the last time she did, and she’s not even sure why it’s happening now. She can’t stop it, can only keep her head down and bite her lip and hope her Handler doesn’t see her weakness. Lying to your handler now, what is wrong with you, F07, it’s like you don’t even want to be good.

She’s not scared of punishment. She deserves it. She damaged HYDRA property, she deserves to be disciplined. Whatever her Handler does, it’s to make her good, make her stronger, make her better, so she can help HYDRA save the world. It’s important.

She’s not scared, she tells herself, and she believes it even as, she keeps her head down, hides her tears, holds her breathing steady, tucks her wings flat against her back instead of letting them wrap around her and hide her from the eyes of her Handler. As she prays he doesn’t look at her face.

He is watching. Silently. Silence is never a good sign. Not with an angry handler. If they yell, then often they will hit her and that will be the end of it. Silence means they are thinking of an apropriate punishment. It will be long and painful.

"It's been a long time since I've been this disappointed." Marcus stands up, moving over to tip her face up. "Awe. Do you feel bad? Are you ashamed of your own actions?"

She lets him move her without complaint, even as she wants to hide her face away in her feathers and have him never see her again. “No. Shame is for people. I am not a person.” Liar. Maybe she’s not a person, but she’s still dreadfully emotional. Case in point.

Setting: A small cabin in the woods, hardly bigger than a large shed. It’s not the sort of thing one would expect to find, out where no human has found it worth the effort of improving the land. Except, apparently someone has. There’s a garden. In fact, it seems like all the available space is dedicated to growing food.

The world is silent. No birds. No bugs. No scampering crittiers. Complete silence save for the light rustling of wind in the trees.

Angel sits in one of those trees. She’s perched on a low branch, fully hidden in shadow, watching the intruder. Her eyes are sharp. She was made for this, a silent ambush predator. She can’t tell who the intruder is yet, with their back turned to her.

Ofeliya was running. She notices the cabin and slows down a little, praying it's abandoned. She couldn't think. Fear muddled the ability to. Her crazy ass HYDRA handler who was supposed to be stuck in her universe whilst she's in this one, came to this universe too. Though she seemed hidden enough now. She's safe.

As if not existing in this universe and having to reintroduce herself to everyone wasn't enough.

Angel looks down at the stranger in her home. She’s been taught to read people at a glance and this newcomer, she’s running from something. What that something is, however, Angel has no idea. Angel might have to run too. If the stranger brings trouble…

Maybe she needs help. But that’s not Angel’s job. Except, it might be a good way to start making amends for the harm she’s done, putting some good into the world by helping someone in distress. Unless it ends with Angel hurt more. Then it’s not worth it.

She’s conflicted, and settles on just watching, seeing what the stranger does next. See if she enters Angel’s house, or runs further, or whatever it is she’s planning to do.

Ofeliya is also conflicted. She notices the house is abandoned though believes the owner must be around the area. So she just waits by the front door. She then takes a deep breath.

"Look if the owner of this house is here, I could really use help. My uh...my abuser from my past is back and I need somewhere to hide so they don't find me." She says simply, looking down at the floor. Abuser is an understatement of her handler, but it's the best description she can think of without mentioning she used to work for HYDRA.

A place to hide? Angel’s got that. It’s basically all she has. If she let this stranger run off, she… well, it’s not like she’s sleeping through the nights anyway, but she’d have even more trouble. Even so, she’s wary. She flicks her knife out and holds it ready.

Angel drops down to the ground. Not as silent as she’d like. The leaves crunch under her boots and the sound carries in the still air.

“You. Name.” Angel doesn’t point the knife at her, but she doesn’t make much effort to hide it.

Ofeliya takes a millisecond before speaking. "Ofeliya." She knows that this version of Angel won't recognize it, because she doesn't exist in this universe. She doesn't have a variant here.

“Ofeliya,” Angel repeats. She narrows her eyes and gestures back the direction she saw Ofeliya came from. “You say there is someone looking for you. I am not against helping you, but I do not want trouble in my home. Will they find you?”

Ofeliya shakes her head. "They hate the woods. Says there's too much bugs." She takes a deep breath. "That's why I've been mainly staying out here for weeks."

“Weeks. That explains how you have found this.” She looks Ofeliya over. “What have you eaten? Drank? You are injured, or healthy?”

Ofeliya shrugs. "I managed to catch a few squirrels, I ran out of water a little while ago and I'm not injured." She doesn't answer the question about being healthy because she honestly doesn't know.

Angel sighs and stands up straighter. “Okay. Okay, empty pockets. I want to see everything you have. For safety. Then inside, then food and water.”

Ofeliya sighs before hesitantly emptying her pockets which included some knives, some guns and the two batons she occasionally uses from time to time. "I um....had an interesting childhood..." she says unsure how to explain the weapons. She did have some medical stuff and some normal things until she pulls out dog tags. Dog tags which used to belong to her Dad James Buchanan Barnes. A hero. The Winter Soldier.

”Not a problem. A lot of people did.” She watches the weapons as they’re set down. There’d be no way to know if there’s any concealed on Ofeliya’s person without searching her, and Angel’s not particularly keen in that.

Her eyes narrow in on the tags. She can’t read them from where she is, but she’s a bit curious. “Are those yours?”

Ofeliya looks at the dog tags and nod. "Um yeah...family heirloom I guess." She says it kind of like a question. The redhead fears that she can see the name 'James Buchanan Barnes' on one of them.

She then takes a deep breath. "So you live here?" Ofe says trying to change topics with a hint of curiosity. "Or is this a vacation thing?"

Angel frowns, but doesn’t push further on the tags. She thinks she’ll probably look at them later, when Ofeliya isn’t paying attention.

“This is my current residence,” Angel says as she pushes the door open. It’s heavy, and doesn’t open unless you push at just the right angle, so she thought finding a way to lock it was an unnecessary effort.

She waves toward the open doorway, stepping aside so Ofeliya can enter.

🧪 - Who is/was your favorite (preferred) handler?

My favorite Handler was Mw. Kluiver. I was in her care when I was very young, when the focus of my training was still obedience and education, not combat. She was more like a nurse than any Handler I’ve had since, but she was still called my Handler, so I would get used to the title, and to the immediate obedience which was expected to come with that position. 

I used to try to ram my wings into the corner of my bed. I think I was trying to break them off. Something in my mammal-brain told me that they were foreign, and I wanted them gone. Mw. Kluiver was the one who broke me of that habit, and who cushioned the corners and edges in my room. I know it was because I was too expensive of an experiment to lose to damage like that, but at the time, it felt like she cared. Maybe she did. 

I was still young when I was reassigned. I think she had been too soft on me for their liking. I tried asking after her, but all I got were scoffs and sharp words I learned not to talk about her again. 

I don’t know what happened to her. I wish I did.

Ofeliya shrugs. "I managed to catch a few squirrels, I ran out of water a little while ago and I'm not injured." She doesn't answer the question about being healthy because she honestly doesn't know.

OPEN RP - Obedence Training

This rp is a continuation to This opener, but may also be used as a stand alone starter. Read the tws in the tags. Don't make this weird. This is not a sexual rp thread.

Marcus often spoke about the importance of obedence. He judged quite heavily when another agent or handler refered to an assit as fully trained, but then had to worry about disobedience. From his point of view, an unbroken assit was nothing more than a liability.

Which was what his current focus with his most recent assit is. He had spent a month or so breaking them down, and now, he had begone what he called "Obedence Training". They were never separate from him, and unless he gave them a direct command, they were expected to be sitting on their knees at his side. If they failed to do this of their own accord, they were punished harshly.

All of their food and water came from him. He fed them only if they had earned it, and even then they had to beg for it. Food wasn't a right, it was a reward.

Most of the day, Marcus had spent his time ignoring the assit. He went to meetings, drank coffee, read over reports, typed up information, drank coffee, and went over mission logs as he might on any other day. Now, he headed into one of the training rooms. Fairly small as far as the rooms went, it had dark stone walls with thick glass windows set into them, allowing people to watch without risking injury. A table is set against one wall, and a chair next to it.

Marcus walks over to the chair and sits down, taking out his pocket knife and spinning it in his fingers.

Angel#F07 tucks herself quietly beside the chair, head straight forward and hands clasped in her lap. Her wings pull at her shoulders and neck as they lay out behind her and she’s glad that the room is free from the danger of wandering feet. Not glad, F07. Assets aren’t glad, they don’t feel.

F07 tracks the shine of the knife out of the corner of her eye. It’s not a threat, because her Handler is holding it, and her Handler is not a threat. Regardless, as the weapon in the room, she keeps an eye on it.

After a moment, he holds the knife out towards her, giving her the type of twisted smile that never had kind intentions behind it. Not that it mattered. Assits don't need kindness.

"Take it. I want to see you bleed."

F07 takes the handle of the knife. It’s a test. It’s always a test. What the parameters are though, F07 doesn’t know. Does he want to know if she’ll hurt herself for him? Of course she will. He’s her Handler, she’d do whatever he told her to. Or is this more about how she’ll do it? She probably hesitated too long if that’s the case. 

She leans back so her Handler can see better and drags the knife across her arm, below the elbow. It’ll be the least inconvenience when healing. She’s gotten disciplined before for damaging herself, when she sprained her ankle and had to stop training until it healed. This wound shouldn’t put too much of a delay on whatever schedule her Handler wants her on. 

She watches the blood well up and drip down the curve of her arm. It lands on her pants, dark drops on dark fabric. She misjudged. The cut was deeper than she intended. This will not heal nicely.

Marcus's face darkens, and he grabs her by the wrist, yanking her to her feet as he stands up. His other than grabs the knife, tossing it down on the table, the clattering sharp and loud in the empty room.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?" He snarls. "I said bleed, not create a laceration. That could get infected."

F07 lets herself be pulled up. She hisses slightly as the movement pulls at the wound, but doesn’t fight. She messed up, misjudged. Tried to do it right but made everything worse. Except it doesn’t matter what she tried to do, because what she did was damage herself. Again.

The last thing she wants to do now is make herself talk, but her Handler asked her a question. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me, sir. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to cut that deep.”

"Tch. Stupid bird." He yanks her harshly down the hall, as if his own actions weren't making the bleeding much worse. Ignoring the concerned or amused looks from the other people they pass, he takes her to the med bay and glances around. "You know how to deal with that yourself?"

At this point, F07 is used to being pulled around. Even though she would follow as closely as her Handler told her to. She’s used to being in pain. For some reason, this hurts worse.

She orients herself when they get to the medbay and checks that the kit she’d need is on the wall where it should be.

“Yes sir. I do.”

"Then deal with it!" He snaps, letting her go and crossing his arms tight over his chest. He needed more coffee to deal with this bird. Obviously one could argue that it wouldn't have happened if he hadn't suggested she hurt herself in the first place, but that was a useless point to make. He didn't care.

She nods and moves to do so. The blood has slowed, but not stopped flowing. She needs more than bandages. But her hands are not as steady as a doctor’s. She would do more damage than good. It would be painful.

There are alternatives. There is a glue in the box, and enough pressure and bandages should stop the bleeding. Or, at the very least, stop it from spilling more blood onto the floor.

It takes longer than it should to fix it, she knows that. She’s out of practice, and unused to bandaging her own wounds. She helps her siblings with theirs, but they patch her up in return, or a real doctor fixes the worst injuries. She hasn’t had to fix one of her own wounds in a long time.

He watches for a bit while she struggles before huffing and moving away from the door, grabbing her arms and actually looking at the wound she's been trying to bandage. He frowns and lets her go, stepping back to radio for an actual medic to come and stitch her up.

He watches the medic carefully clean and stitch the wound closed before wrapping it in bandages. The expression on his face suggests that she has not heart the end of it. Indeed, it will be along time before she does.

F07 keeps her lips pressed tight together and her gaze down. She messed up. She messed up bad, she damaged herself. Again. Not your body, don’t damage what isn’t yours to break.

Her vision blurs slightly and —no, not now, not now, please not— she’s crying. It’s been years since the last time she did, and she’s not even sure why it’s happening now. She can’t stop it, can only keep her head down and bite her lip and hope her Handler doesn’t see her weakness. Lying to your handler now, what is wrong with you, F07, it’s like you don’t even want to be good.

She’s not scared of punishment. She deserves it. She damaged HYDRA property, she deserves to be disciplined. Whatever her Handler does, it’s to make her good, make her stronger, make her better, so she can help HYDRA save the world. It’s important.

She’s not scared, she tells herself, and she believes it even as, she keeps her head down, hides her tears, holds her breathing steady, tucks her wings flat against her back instead of letting them wrap around her and hide her from the eyes of her Handler. As she prays he doesn’t look at her face.

She nods and moves to do so. The blood has slowed, but not stopped flowing. She needs more than bandages. But her hands are not as steady as a doctor’s. She would do more damage than good. It would be painful.

There are alternatives. There is a glue in the box, and enough pressure and bandages should stop the bleeding. Or, at the very least, stop it from spilling more blood onto the floor.

It takes longer than it should to fix it, she knows that. She’s out of practice, and unused to bandaging her own wounds. She helps her siblings with theirs, but they patch her up in return, or a real doctor fixes the worst injuries. She hasn’t had to fix one of her own wounds in a long time.

It hurt.

It had started out as a rash. Then hard lumps on his back that looked bruised. They were bruised. He'd slammed himself against far too many walls and trees in an attempt to ease the itching. And now, they had finally broken the skin. It hurt. Not just his back. The pain ran down his sides, his arms, his entire torso.

He didn't know who to go to. His caregivers would be so disappointed. They didn't want a mutant. He didn't want to be a mutant.

So he hid. Curled up in an empty shed he'd found back when they first moved here, he tried to flex the stupid new limbs so they'd stop aching. He couldn't. They hadn't broken properly. Ought to have been freed from their elesticy sacks by now, but instead they were drying onto the feathers. That hurt too. He didn't know. Didn't know what it was supposed to look like. Feel like.

It hurt.

“Hello? Someone in there?” Angel raps her knuckles against the doorframe of the shed. Maybe building it in the woods where anyone could see it wasn’t the best for keeping a secret place, but in her defense, nobody usually came out here. Not that she kept anything really secret there anyway.

“I can hear you in there,” she calls, “I am opening the door.”

"No! Leave me alone!" The person inside scrambles to the back of the shed. "I don't want to hurt you.. Please. Leave."

Angel opens the door anyway, and slips inside. She’s not surprised, exactly, to find a kid — the voice had given him away — but she is surprised to see the… she hesitates to call them wings, but they certainly seem like it. Whatever was on them looks painful.

“I don’t think you’re gonna hurt me. I think you’re hurting. I want to help.”

"Help?" He wants that more than he's willing to admit. "Why? How?"

“Because you’re hurt. You’re a kid and you’re hurt and I don’t like to see that.” She cracks a smile. “And hey, think of it this way. You’re lucky enough to have found the only woman in the area who knows her way around a pair of feathered wings.” She flaps her own out briefly for emphasis. “Now I’m not quite sure what you’ve got on them, but I think between the two of us, we can get you clean.”

"Oh..." His eyes go wide at the sight of the wings. She was definitely his best bet. "Okay. They just came in, but they won't open. It hurts. My muscles hurt to."

“Can I see them?” She crouches down but doesn’t move closer — no use scaring the kid more than he already is.

"O-Okay." He nods, shuffling around to show her the wings.

Angel’s hands hover over the wings, not touching. She’s not entirely sure what they’re covered in, but she can see it’s dried on and pulls when he moves.

“You said these just grew in? Did this membrane come with them? Can you feel it, is it still connected?”

"Membrane? Yeah... I think so. I didn't get anything new on them. I've been careful." He struggles with his wings again for a moment. "Connected? Where?"

Angel shrugs, then realizes he probably couldn’t see her, on account of facing the other way. “I don’t know. I didn’t get this, I was born with little wings, so were all my siblings. It’s probably what they were in when they were growing, if they burst through.” She tilts her head, turning her attention from his wings to his back. “Did they burst through? Are you bleeding?”

"Mhm! Bleeding. It was really itchy for awhile, but then it just hurt." His voice drops, more serious, almost secretive. "If I'd been born with them, I would be alive. My parents probably would have left me in a dumpster."

That is… concerning. But not the current priority. Something to address later, if the kid stuck around. “I think I’m going to need water. Actually this might need to be soaked off. And we need to clean your back where they erupted.” 

She hesitates before asking. “I could help you better if you came to my place. And… I mean these walls aren’t insulated, and it’ll get cold once the sun goes down. It’d be pretty uncomfortable in the cold with wet wings.”

He thinks about this, then nods. He wasn't overtly trusting, but she seemed to have no ill intentions. She could have hurt him already if she planned to.

"Okay, let's go to your place."

Angel nods and stands slowly, offering a hand to help him do the same. “I’m Angel.” She grins. “Betcha can’t guess where that name came from.”

He giggles taking her hand and climbing to his feet. He wobbles, even the small wings throwing his balance off. "Mhm. Couldn't guess."

“Careful there. You’ll have to lean forward a bit to stay upright. Your center of mass has changed, you’re going to need to re-learn all the micro-adjustments your body does.”

She frowns slightly. “You should try to avoid testing that until we can get that gunk off of your wings. I don’t want it to pull wrong and hurt you.”

He nods, clutching her hand tightly as he figures out how to balance. It would take a few weeks before it became instinctive, but by focusing, he is able to walk with her.

“There you are.” Angel smiles and pushes the door open again, leafing him out.

“My place is that way, not very far. I’ve got a tub I use for washing my own wings, and some preen tools I can teach you to use too.”

"I'm so glad you are here," he mumbles. "I don't actually want to die."

She blinks. “Then I’m glad I’m here too.” She resists the urge to wrap him up in her arms and wings and keep him hidden, safe. Instead, she squeezes his hand and repeats. “I’m glad.”

When they reach her home, it’s a small cabin tucked away between the trees. The ground all around is a chaotic vegetable garden of sorts.

He watches the ground carefully, afraid he might step on a vegetable. "...do you live with adults?...are you an adult?"

“Am I—” That stops her completely in her tracks. “Yes, I’m an adult. I— I’m just compact. For flying. I am a normal height for a winged adult.” She frowns slightly. Not offended, just taken off guard. “I am definitely an adult.”

He bumps into her back, not noticing that she stopped. "Sorry. ...Sorry. I don't know. I can't tell. Women are too pretty to know how old they are. You are a woman, aren't you?"

“Yeah, I’m— yes.” She opens the door and slips in, leaving the door open behind her. It’s small, inside. She digs around in one of many hand-woven baskets and comes out with a set of wood and bone tools in various shapes. Some look like small combs, and some more like tweezers. One looks almost like a bird’s beak.

She tilts her head, considering him. “We’ll probably need to reconstitute the gunk before we can get it off. I’ve got two options. One, I fill up a tub and you can soak it off. That’ll take time to get set up. Two, we can use damp cloths. That’ll take less time, but might not work quite as well.”

He cocks his head, watching all of his. He already had so many tiny but adorable bird traits. All of the tools were very interesting.

"I don't know?" He gives her a small, slightly confused smile. He didn't know what the word reconstitute meant. That was a very long word for a kid who's first language was not English. "You choose?"

She hums slightly. “Honestly, I think we just need to get it off. It’s keeping you from opening your wings, and I don’t know what else. Probably it’s better to just do the cloths and get it over with. Here, do you want to do it inside or outside?”

"Inside, it's warmer." He attempts to fluff his wings, staring over his shoulder. "It feels funny."

“I bet it does. But look, you’re already getting better at moving them. And once we get everything off them, you’ll be able to spread your wings and really look at them. I’m sure your feathers are beautiful.”

Angel nods toward the door. “Come on in then.”

OPEN RP - Obedence Training

This rp is a continuation to This opener, but may also be used as a stand alone starter. Read the tws in the tags. Don't make this weird. This is not a sexual rp thread.

Marcus often spoke about the importance of obedence. He judged quite heavily when another agent or handler refered to an assit as fully trained, but then had to worry about disobedience. From his point of view, an unbroken assit was nothing more than a liability.

Which was what his current focus with his most recent assit is. He had spent a month or so breaking them down, and now, he had begone what he called "Obedence Training". They were never separate from him, and unless he gave them a direct command, they were expected to be sitting on their knees at his side. If they failed to do this of their own accord, they were punished harshly.

All of their food and water came from him. He fed them only if they had earned it, and even then they had to beg for it. Food wasn't a right, it was a reward.

Most of the day, Marcus had spent his time ignoring the assit. He went to meetings, drank coffee, read over reports, typed up information, drank coffee, and went over mission logs as he might on any other day. Now, he headed into one of the training rooms. Fairly small as far as the rooms went, it had dark stone walls with thick glass windows set into them, allowing people to watch without risking injury. A table is set against one wall, and a chair next to it.

Marcus walks over to the chair and sits down, taking out his pocket knife and spinning it in his fingers.

Angel#F07 tucks herself quietly beside the chair, head straight forward and hands clasped in her lap. Her wings pull at her shoulders and neck as they lay out behind her and she’s glad that the room is free from the danger of wandering feet. Not glad, F07. Assets aren’t glad, they don’t feel.

F07 tracks the shine of the knife out of the corner of her eye. It’s not a threat, because her Handler is holding it, and her Handler is not a threat. Regardless, as the weapon in the room, she keeps an eye on it.

After a moment, he holds the knife out towards her, giving her the type of twisted smile that never had kind intentions behind it. Not that it mattered. Assits don't need kindness.

"Take it. I want to see you bleed."

F07 takes the handle of the knife. It’s a test. It’s always a test. What the parameters are though, F07 doesn’t know. Does he want to know if she’ll hurt herself for him? Of course she will. He’s her Handler, she’d do whatever he told her to. Or is this more about how she’ll do it? She probably hesitated too long if that’s the case. 

She leans back so her Handler can see better and drags the knife across her arm, below the elbow. It’ll be the least inconvenience when healing. She’s gotten disciplined before for damaging herself, when she sprained her ankle and had to stop training until it healed. This wound shouldn’t put too much of a delay on whatever schedule her Handler wants her on. 

She watches the blood well up and drip down the curve of her arm. It lands on her pants, dark drops on dark fabric. She misjudged. The cut was deeper than she intended. This will not heal nicely.

Marcus's face darkens, and he grabs her by the wrist, yanking her to her feet as he stands up. His other than grabs the knife, tossing it down on the table, the clattering sharp and loud in the empty room.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?" He snarls. "I said bleed, not create a laceration. That could get infected."

F07 lets herself be pulled up. She hisses slightly as the movement pulls at the wound, but doesn’t fight. She messed up, misjudged. Tried to do it right but made everything worse. Except it doesn’t matter what she tried to do, because what she did was damage herself. Again.

The last thing she wants to do now is make herself talk, but her Handler asked her a question. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me, sir. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to cut that deep.”

"Tch. Stupid bird." He yanks her harshly down the hall, as if his own actions weren't making the bleeding much worse. Ignoring the concerned or amused looks from the other people they pass, he takes her to the med bay and glances around. "You know how to deal with that yourself?"

She orients herself when they get to the medbay and checks that the kit she’d need is on the wall where it should be.
