I like to think about when kids are like 5 years old and their memory is shit, and they've forgotten that the four seasons rotate. they must walk into Spring thinking wow, this is fantastic, and not knowing what will come after. Maybe the sky turns into one william volcanoes, or maybe the next season is when the sky disappears and space is all around us. my personal favorite, the air is warm with a cool breeze and the entire sky is made of rainbows and it's always drizzling in sun showers. like kids r just so ready for what happens next they think they got the hang of the whole world by the time they're 6. I love that.

poetry hunting log from 4/16

The briefest glance to a car showed me a bubbled, outward-dented mark of rust in the shape of a nearly perfect heart. It was sweet. Reminded me of somebody who's down on their luck and may be feeling negatively, but don't realize how brightly they shine and how people care for them. Another rendition would be somebody who makes the most of everything, who runs in the rain or makes the most of a day with cancelled plans. Finally, somebody who leads their life in a way, through choices of their own resolve, that may look bizarre to someone from the outside, but is a beautiful sanctuary for the one on the inside. Beauty in difference, kind of thing.

I hate how the advice for avoiding burnout is all "if you feel like everything is a chore you're making yourself do, you should rest and do things you want to do voluntarily :)" like the fuck you mean want to do. I don't want to cook a nice homemade meal, go outside to spend time in nature, make cutesy fun little crafts, read books, or do any of that shit. Those are also chores I make myself do. Self care is a chore. Either I am up and making myself do shit that I don't want to do because people are making me and I am supposed to, or it's phone in bed. There is no secret third thing.

This grabbed my attention because ive recently come to terms with productivity and procrastination in a new light, in which both are viewed in things like finance, food, chores, housework, homework, work... But to those who are trying to "get their life on track" in that manner, do they know what it feels like to procrastinate your art, your hobbies, your self care? Do they recognize finishing a personal project is just as productive as paying electric bills and clocking into work? Productivity and procrastination stem from within yourself and out to what you spend your time on; the former can be as mundane and healing to the soul as being with nature; the latter is the burnout and lack of motivation not from a dirty kitchen or overdue work/school assignments, but from not allowing your human need to bask in what makes you feel alive to flourish. or something like that.

enjoying what u enjoy doesn't make u lazy it makes you productive, just not in the light of capitalist money-earning house-making debt-paying bs

and on the other side of it, procrastinating enjoying what u enjoy will drain you and burn you out far more than procrastinating an unpaid bill or unwashed laundry

You know how you'll sometimes be looking for something and instead of finding That One Thing, you find like 25 other things that you'd lost at some point, or forgot that you even had? I think the same applies for finding yourself. You don't find that when you're looking for that, it happens when you're looking something else and instead go "oh so that's where that was" and grab it along because you needed that too.

Don't go out there trying to find yourself. Go out there to flip rocks over to see if you can find cool bugs.
