NEGATIVE THOUGHT CYCLES AND THE VICTIM MINDSET
Itβs so easy to get stuck in a negative thought cycleβ especially if youβre struggling with mental illness. Our egos will try to keep us trapped in these cycles to protect us, which in turn keeps us in the state of being a victim. Recognising when youβre falling victim to these negative thought patterns and cycles is so important as freeing yourself is vital.
1β A negative thought or assumption pops up and you find yourself dwelling on this
2β The outer world (or 3D as some call it) starts to reflect this negative assumption
3β This in turn reinforces the assumption in your mind
4β The outer world continues to show you this negative assumption and the cycle continues
Recognising this cycle and breaking it is so so so important!! Do not fall victim to these negative assumptions!
An example from my own life:
1β I was super insecure and hated how I looked, and instead of fulfilling myself with how I wish I looked I decided to dwell on the negatives
2β my outer world started to reflect this and my skin got bad and I started to gain weight
3β This caused my assumptions and beliefs about myself to worsen
4β So the outer world kept showing me this reality that I was unhappy with (and the cycle continues)
If I had changed my thoughts or realised that I was victimising myself, I couldβve broken this cycle and changed my outer world. As Neville said βthere is no one to change but self.β
Obviously one negative thought will not manifest into your reality, but if you keep telling yourself that (for example) youβre poor and you keep dwelling on this, then the outer world will reflect this back to you.
Using this example of money, letβs plug it into the cycle:
1β You see something you want to buy, lets say for example a new phone. You keep telling yourself that you cannot afford this phone and that you're too poor to buy it. You then continue to do this with everything ("oh no i can't afford to buy that!" "I wish I had money!" "I'm so poor!" etc)
2β Your outer world will reflect these thoughts back to you, keeping you in the poverty mindset
3β These reflections in the outer world reinforce your assumption (belief) that you're poor and that you lack money
4β The cycle continues as the outer world mirrors your beliefs
How can we break the cycle?
Persist in the new story. Only tell yourself what you want to hear. Persisting is so important in breaking the cycle!! If a negative thought or assumption appears in your mind just ignore it (you can flip it if this helps you). Be kind to yourself, take breaks and don't beat yourself up if you do find yourself stuck in the victim mindset, sometimes it can just happen and that's okay! Nothing is set in stone and the things in the outer world that you don't like can change within an instant. Always remember that ultimately, you are in control of your life <3
