Rich-and-spoiled!Gabriel facing the harsh âreal lifeâ for the first time after the bankruptcy of his family;
Former family lawyer!Sam, known for trying to get some sense into him every now and then, is awakened one night by his phone ringing: itâs Gabriel;
Heâs panicking because he basically has nowhere to go: all their properties are blocked or whatever itâs legally called. Apparently something on Dadâs business was very, very wrong and illegal;
Sam sighs but gives him his address;
They start living together and while Sam is at work, Gabriel is left to figure out how to be a functioning adult by himself;
Itâs a very long and filled with failure and frustration process;
(laundry is a complete nightmare. More than once, he ended up staining or even changing the colors of Samâs clothes. Sam is always magnanimous about it what only makes him feel worse)
He gets the hang of cooking eventually;
Baking comes easily to him, surprisingly. He starts making things for Sam to take to work: cookies and brownies, muffins, cupcakes;
Sam doesnât really eat much of the baked goods, he shares with his co-workers, who quickly get hooked;
He tells Gabriel that and that he has a lot of potential and maybe this can be a good way to restart his life;
Gabriel is surprised and moved by Samâs faith in him, but laughs it off, joking that Sam is trying to get rid of him already;
Truth is that Gabriel doesnât believe in himself, doesnât really think he has any talent since he never had to make an effort in his life due to his family fortune;
One day, while Sam is at work, he leaves;
Sam only finds a note saying that Gabriel doesnât want to be âleech anymore and itâs past time I leave you alone. Thank you so much for everything you did for me. Love, Gabrielâ
Sam tries to find him, even contacts his brother, who is a detective;
Eventually they find out heâs been sleeping in a shelter and working as a helper on the kitchen of this small diner (he does mostly the cleaning);
Sam hugs him so hard it takes him off the ground;
Practically begs him to come back home with him;
Gabriel doesnât (want to) understand why Sam in âwasting time with me? All I did was to give you trouble, ruin your clothes, waste food when trying to cook and Iâm not even good at it-â
Sam silences him with a kiss;
Gabriel swears the world stops spinning for a second;
They talk and talk and Gabriel agrees to go back to Samâs but he wants to help with the bills. Sam can only smile and nod;
Years later, Gabrielâs bakery, Little Piece of Heaven, is open for business;
Sam couldnât be more proud of his husband;
And he tells Gabriel every day;
(Gabriel is still terrible with laundry. They decide, since Sam canât cook, but is not a fan of microwaveable, pre-made heavily processed food, that Gabriel is going to learn all the healthy but delicious meals they see on Buzzfeed and Sam is going to take care of their clothes. The rest of the chores they split equally)
