(⏾1/?)I'm slowly going through your blog and have just finished looking through the Corporate Spy AU's... And I'm just thinking, what if when WWX was blamed, LWJ did stand with him? Everything is too clean, leads too easily. Plus, if WWX really was doing this, where are all his funds? All the proof that he's been profiting from the espionage? His uncle looks at him with distain. Obviously, his love for WWX is blinding him. If he insists to stand by him...

(⏾2/?) Then LWJ cannot stay a part of this family if he will stand by someone so against this family! LWJ stares his uncle down and... Says "If that is truly what you believe, then so be it." LQR is too proud to back down, and so he disowns his youngest nephew. LXC is disappointed that LWJ is standing with WWX and disappointed that LQR would disown LWJ, but ultimately thinks its for the best. Because otherwise couldn't WWX just use LWJ to get back into their system?

(⏾3/?) Cut off from his family and with his husband in jail, LWJ has to find a job, a way to take care of his young son, a new home. When WWX gets out of jail, he joins his husband and son. Their life is hard... But fulfilling. Then, the thirteen years later when the scandal drops, LQR and LXC come rushing back, apologizing to LWJ (and notably not WWX) and wanting him back in the family. But they broke that bond when they disowned LWJ for standing up for his husband.

(⏾4/4) They chose to take the easy and convenient target rather than dig deeper. LXC stood by and gave JGY easy access and there's not a single word against him despite his obvious grief about how JGY acted... So no. No he isn't taking their money and he's not coming back. They can live with the fact that /they/ broke that bond. That LWJ doesn't trust them and likely never will.

This is hands down the most accurate LWJ reaction in this AU. He embodies that 'I have done nothing wrong ever' 'I know this and I love you' meme with WWX.

Many people say Lan Sizhui is Hanguang Jun’s natural born son and that he (LSZ) should be grateful that he is being given the opportunity to be raised in the Lan Sect even if as a ward and not as a son. LSZ who is also treated differently like WWX was in the Lotus Pier, never knowing where he exactly fits in, always wondering what happened to him. They never say such words before HGJ so he is unaware. But LSZ hears them all. He never dares to ask HGJ for more because deep down he believes he is also lucky. He already has more than other bastard children.

Imagine how he's gonna feel when he gets his memories back and realizes that he's not even Wangji's son...

Following the "JGY forces LWJ and QS to marry after have set a trap for LWJ and Rusong kills WWX"

**It's his father, LWJ, that catches him in the act. He smiles upon seeing him. Now everything would be fine, he killed the miscreant that was bothering him. A demonic cultivator, a cutsleeve lunatic, the murderer of 3000 men. Perhaps he'd finally be proud of him, for once.**

And Rusong loses any chances to be ever liked by LWJ.

LWJ will not hurt a kid, but he's dead to him. He doesn't even look at him anymore. Rusong doesn't exists for him anymore. At least, before, he acknowledged his existence but not anymore.

Rusong loses all the rights of a Lan heir, he's even less important than any disciple now. A lot of disciples, who were jealous, speak about him behind his back because he loses his father's favor.

He says that he killed WWX but nobody believe im since oly LWJ has seen him. Afer all WWX has been dead for years, right? People laugh at him because seriously what this kid invent to have his father's favor. Because even if WWX was bring back to life, a 15 years old couldn't kill him, really. LQ tells him that lies are forbidden. Xichen looks at him with deception (because he knows, he knows that Rusong killed LWXJ's true love)

QS looks at him with dissapointement. Because over the years, her and LWJ have reached a kind of friendship and she knows. She can't blame her child but...

He doesn't understand. He feels even more unloved than before, because he doesn't even exist for LWJ anymore, he feels not welcomed to CR anymore. LWJ makes him feel like he's better to go away. Shizui is now the real heir until xichen got his own kid.

Shizui is furious over him because he remember WWX, and turn his back to him at his turn.

Things become horrible.

NHS screams with frustration. His plans are going to all without WWX. A very loyal and strong Nie disciple sees that the plan to avenge Nie Mingjue (who saved his life) is going to fall, leaving JGY in control. NHS has a copy of the ritual, thank to Mo Xanyu so he decides to do it. Without any demands. Just a letter begging to help his sect leader to avenge Mingjue. NHS is devasted, he didn't want his disciple to do that, but now WWX is came back in a body of a 27 years old, strong, with a good golden core and he even look a little like he looked when he was alive. Except his eyes who are green.

LWJ recognize him by hasard, because of the song, agaibn.

Everything happens like in canon after that, everyone think "aww LWJ find a friend with who do night hunts =)"

LWJ doesn't want to lose him again so this time he says his feelings and they become a couple before they found Mingjue's head.

During the escapade at the golden tower, WWX realize that JGY plans to get rid of Jin Ling, who is the Jin Heir, to put his own son (he got married at a point) as sucessor. JGY can't proove that this Nie Disciple is WWX since he has his own sword and so he's not using Subian in self defense (and he uses traditional cultivation, since he has a strong golden core). so he tries again, and again, but the duo WWX and LWJ sucess in everything and NHS plays his cards when everyone (for reasons) is reunited to LP and all the truth explode.

JGY killed his father

Rusong is actually his son and he has trapped LWJ so he'll marry QS

Because QS is his sister.

Rusong is a incestous kid

JGY killed Mingjue by poisonning his mind with musical cultivation.

Happy time for Rusong.

JGY panick and the events of the temple happen. Rusong hears his real bio father who tells him "'if my plan to marry LWJ and QS didn't work, it would have killed you" He also realizes that what he did, who make him lose any chance to ever be loved by LWJ (killing WWX), failed since WWX came back to life, again.

Nie Mingjue's body take revenge and everything end well.

Jin Ling is saved (because JGY really tried to kill him) and is now the sect leader. JGY's son is a 4 years old so he's not a danger for Jin Ling. And he's ready to open his heart to WWX since the man saved him few times and spoke with him about his mother.

NHS is satisfied. Now he can reveal how good he is as sect leader without fearing for his life.

Lan Xichen go in seclusion for 4 months then accept to marry. Since it's his duty. 1,5 years later, his wife give birth to twins. A boy and a girl.

Now that it's revealed the truth, LQ is agree to cancel the marriage between QS and LWJ, QS thank LWJ for his kindness over the years. She now want to travel with her son, sees the world. They leave the Lan Sect.

LWJ doesn't say goodbye to Rusong. Even if WWX came back again, he could have not. He thought to have lose him again, and he can't forget this pain. And for that, he can't forgive. Yeah he's petty. But losing WWX just atfer have him back was too much. Even if WWX came back again. He can't ever trust this kid again. Rusong is heartbroken, a smile is all he wanted from his father.

QS, with some luck, will find a man who will really love her and who is not her half-brother or someone forced to marry her. Since she is young and a cultivator, she can even hgave another child. Rusong must adapt to this new life, away of the man he thougth to be his father, away of the Lan Clan, away of all he thought to be his truth. His new father-on-law is nice, and give him attention.

LWJ go in a lot of hight hunts with WWX and Shizui who is overjoyed to have his A-die back again. In their night hunts, they adopt 2/3 orphans because WWX is a real mother-hen inside.

I honestly think Lan Wangji would throw the rule book at Rusong. Ensures the kid has a trial for murder and is imprisoned for life. People praise him and his dedication to justice, making his only son face consequences.

Jin!Wei Wuxian has been found at 7 by Jin Zixuan in the street during a travel with his mother to Yiling. He saved the poor boy from dogs and has big brother instinct immediatly. His mother was like "ok" and when she learns who is the kid, she still accepts, because at least her sworn sister will not have to deal with this kid in her home and this kid has a so adorable smile. And if her husband dares sayin anything, she'll tell him "listen if you can have a lot of bastard children behind my back, then i can adopt a child. He's not mine at least!" Jin Guangshan is surprised but when he sees that he kid become more and more smart and powerful, create things who are useful and stuff like that, he's like "fine".

Jin Zuxian loves his little brother, even if this little brother is a feral gremlins who love to tease him. Wei Wuxian knows Jin Zixuan feelings about Jiang Yanli and propose to invit her for summer or propose to Zixuan to be te one to go to Lotus Piers at Summer so he would spent a whole season with her, getting to know her.

Except the fact that Wei Wuxian is in the Jin sect, almost everything happens in the same way. He's just not expelled from Coud Recess since Jin Zixuan isn't a idiot. Following that, the events are almsot the same than in canon.

Jin Guangyao resent him, thinking Wei Wuxian stole his place in the sect. Wei Wuxian learns about Mo Xuanyu and convinces Madam Jin to let the boy coming in the sect. The kid comes at seven years old, super happy about discovering his family. It makes Jin Guangyao even more bitter. Why they adopted a street rat when he was rejected? Why taking this other half-brother when he was kicked out?

The incident on Qiongqi Path is even worse since Zixuan was Wei Wuxian's brother. Yanli survives since she was not here during the fight where Wei Wuxian died. And so, when Wei Wuxian is brought back by Mo Xuanyu in his own body, he mourns his little brother and is so angry that he has been pushed to do that. He's very protective of Jin Ling and feel even more bad about Jin Zixuan dead.

He hates Jin Guangyao with a burning rage when he learns the truth

Wei Wuxian will still blame himself for his brothers death, even after he find out it was all orchestrated by Jin Guanyao.

Canon divergence au where the siege of lotus pier goes differently - not all of the disciples are killed, the sect isn't completely destroyed, no golden core destruction/swap, etc. Jiang Fengmian survives, but he gets there too late to save Yu Ziyuan from being taken as a war prize for Wen Ruohan (and his sons if he's ever feeling generous). So while the sunshot campaign is happening Fengmian is going absolutely insane, thinking of all of the awful things she's going through just because he got there too late. Meanwhile Ziyuan is being tortured and raped but thinks no one is going to come save her, because why would they. What reasons has she given anyone to save her.

Yu Ziyuan tries to hold onto her pride and survive while enduring tourture, unaware that her name is the rally cry for the Yunmeng forces in the war.

Okay so this is a though I have sometimes for like.... an angsty AU (that I'd love to read but not necessarily make myself lol) but just.... Just imagine this, okay? Burial Mounds days. WWX starts receiving what he can only interpret as visions of a future. (Dreams. Actual visions. Some sort of array he made to try and see what the future held? Who knows?) He's at Cloud Recess. He's married to LWJ. A-Yuan is alive and well and they talk about Wen Ning and it's all just so happy? Everyone is well and even he seems happy? Seems fake but... Oh he wants. Especially for A-Yuan who shouldn't have to grow up on a mountain of corpses. So next time he meets LWJ, and LWJ asks him to come to Gusu... He accepts. He brings the Wen Remnants and Wen Ning and they all go to Cloud Recess. What the future visions didn't tell him though... Was that he had died. That he wasn't in his own body. That all the Wen except for Wen Yuan and (technically) Wen Ning had been murdered. He goes to Cloud Recess, but LWJ hasn't had to live with 13 years of grief. He still believes in the rules and his sect.

Is WWX executed for his supposed 'crimes'? Do the Wen Remnants get turned back over to the Jin? Does WWX get locked up? Who knows! I didn't get that far in my thoughts. There's so much potential though for angst. (Listen....... as long as it ends on a happy note, I'm fine with it becoming angstier than angsty lol.)

Lan Xichen will be Stressed.

He could hide Wei Wuxian the same way his mother was hidden. He could even hide Wen Yuan among the little Lan children and say he's an orphan of war. He might even be able to get away with taking in the elders, but it's a stretch.

How is he suppose to hide the renowned doctor Wen Qing and her undead living corpse brother???

And everyone's fucked if he says anything to Jin Guangyao.

Jin Zixuan survives but he is severely hurt. He spent months in bed after his wounds so he misses so much things. After that, he recovers badly, he's always so so weak so yes, he let his brother take over. Meng Yao is so nice and so caring. What he doesn't know is that his dear brother poison him to keep him weak, to keep him fragile, influenceable. Everytime he tries/wants to speak against something that JYG decided, he's suddently so tired...and his brother is so right. His brother does a good job as sect leader so Jin Zixuan is happy to be a father for his son. And a uncle for JGY's son as long that this boy was alive. He was devasted by his death.

Jin Ling is very protective of his father and doesn't understand why he's so weak. His father so so strong before and his wound recovered. So why he's so weak?

"It's because of WWX, he cursed your father" people said and still say.

Jin Zixuan tries to be a good brother for Mo Xuanyu. Mo Xuanyu was happy to have a so nice big brother and was very concerned by his health.

The real reason of Mo Xuanyu banishment was that he seen/understood that JYG poisoned Jin Zixuan to keep him weak and under control. JYG got rid of him with fake rumors about the young man trying to do a move on him.

Jin Zixuan tried to speak but he was so tired...maybe...he refused to believe what JGY said about their brother. It was a mistake. It could only be a mistake!

Mo Xuanyu tells NHS about it but want to save his brother, he wants to get revange on his family. So he does the sacrifice. WWX has no scars on his skin, just a letter begging to save his dage.

And the story go on but with Jin Zixuan alive but under JGY's control, "drugged" for 13 years to be unable to speak again his brother. NHS being our favorite chessmaster, he manages to "kidnapp" Jin Zixuan at a point and to give him the antidote + heal him off the drugs. Of course, JGY blames WWX for the kidnapping. Jin Ling starts to have big doubts about his uncle after this moment

After WWx punched Zixuan during the Cloud Recesses studies, both Jiang Fengmian and Madam Yu came. Madam Yu is super pissed because of the break-up of engagement (+ maybe because of other events before coming) and when she sees Wei Wuxian, she is livid and throw Zidian at him to hit him.

Except.

Nie Huaisang was here, next to Wei Wuxian and Madam Yu has not correctly targered WWX. Zidian hits Huaisang brutally, making him fall on the ground, blood coming from a big wound of the chest and the left arm.

Wei Wuxian panicks because his friend is hurt (and Huaisang is less strong than him, Zidian could do a lot of damages).

Madam Yu says that the boy is weak and that if he had a better golden core, it would be nothing. She is not afraid of Mingjue because she sees him as a young man, younger than her.

Jiang Fengmian is sweating with panic because "ho my god, it's the precious little brother of the Nie Sect leader. It could give me so much problems and affect the relations between our sects!"

Lan Qiren wonders how he'll explain THAT to Mingjue. And that he'll have to be VERY diplomatic about it.

Lan Xichen is already near of Huaisang, giving him spiritual enery and saying him words of comfort.

Jin Guangshan thinks that really this women is crazy. Because even he knows that touching Huaisang is a big no no because Nie Mingjue is a very protective brother.

Nie Mingjue is....well he'll absolutely livid when he'll learn that.

Good thing that the Gusu Doctors are very good and that Huaisang will be totally alright after they take care of him, because if he didn't fully recover, Madam Yu would be dead.

Would Madam Yu miss? Nah. Never. Huaisang saw it coming and tried to push his friend out of the way- didn't really think about how that would put him in the way of the blow.

Fem Jin Zixuan is, as a result of being raised by Jin Guangshan, absolutely terrified of men. It comes across as being haughty or bitchy but she's seen how her mother has ensured no men, not even JGS, touch her, so she doesn't care as long as it works. And it does!! No men want to interact with a woman who sneers at them like they're the dirt beneath her shoe. She doesnt care that they call her as long as they leave her alone. She hopes it pushes away her fiance (male jiang yanli) too. He's a gentle man, always polite to her, but she doesnt believe him. She's seen enough to know she can't trust men.

How does this get fixed, idk! But even if she trusts him by the time they get married, she's absolutely terrified of what will happen on their wedding night. A lifetime of fear isn't so easily fixed.

CIS Female Jin Zixuan is so interesting to me. Daughter of a notorious whoremonger and jaded mother so overly protective it turns toxic.

Jin Guangshan would feel indifferent to her because she's a girl, but wants to have the image of a loving father while their in public. He calls her pet names like princess and baobei. Tells people that she's worth more than all the gold in Lanling. Shitty person as he is, Jin Zixuan is probably the only woman in China he would never touch- she's the only daughter he Knows and Acknowledges as his.

Madam Jin would actually treasure her daughter. Her greatest fear is her daughter being married off to a bad man for her husband's political games like she was. She drills into her daughters mind how you can never fully trust a man, never be alone with them, never put yourself in that situation- you are a lady, nothing like those other girls. She has some internalize misogyny and misandry that she unfortunately she passes onto Jin Zixuan, who has to unlearn those beliefs.

Jin Zixuan gets called an ice princess dipped in gold. People think she's arrogant and vain and stuck up. She's only ever seen in the company of woman, but never lets them close enough to consider them friends. She's incredibly lonely. She focuses on her cultivation, determined to be able to protect herself no matter who tries to hurt her. She eventually grows to be a bit of a girls girl once she becomes friends with MianMian. Will not hesitate to protect any and every woman who needs help.

CIS male Jiang Yanli thinks she hung the moon and threw the stars up there too.

What if the whole cultivation world finds out that lan shizhui was a wen and Jin ling who was in love with lan shizhui but didn't tell him because he was afraid of being rejected by him and now has a obsession with lan shizhui and kidnappers him and focused lan shizhui to marry him but lan wangji who loves lan shizhui as a son lock him in the gusu but Jin ling still manage to kidnap lan shizhui and marry him but Jin ling is both now hates and loves lan shizhui he lan shizhui because he a wan and share the same blood as his parents killer not knowing what actually happened on that day but he love lan shizhui because he was the boy who was the only one who was generally kind and caring to Jin ling and not someone who wants to use him and Jin ling does nothing but Lock lan shizhui and evern Force himself on lan shizhui and lan shizhui after a few years because very depressed and traumatized because of Jin ling and also being locked in a room and knowing he can't not escape no matter what because he knows that he will be killed because he a wen lan shizhui was so depressed and traumatized by this that he killed himself and Jin ling just hold his dead body and say I'm sorry I didn't mean to do this to you I'm sorry just please come back home

Post-canon

Jin Ling finds the journal of Yu Ziyuan in his mother's things admitting to the brutal murder of of Wei Change and Cangse Sanren.

In her own journal Jiang Yanli details discovering the truth shortly after the fall of Lotus Pier and having no idea how to break it to Wei Wuxian. The guilt of keeping him 'indebted' prevents her from telling him as well as the desire to keep him as her little brother prevented her from acting in any meaningful way way to save Wei Wuxian and the Wen Remnants.

Jin Ling has no idea what he's going to do with the journals but he has to do something.

Yanli finding out the truth but things are so strained between her brothers and Wei Ying is Not Doing Well mentally after the war so she's scared that this would be the killing blow to her family and chooses to stay quiet. Now its on Jin Ling.

ok and imagine he door is always closed so he can't run.

Jiang Yanli and Jiang Cheng heard him cry and call for help but they can't open the door.

He's traumatised, doesn't smile, fails often because he's so tired. And so he's punished.

One day the Nie come to visit, and Jiang Cheng has a idea, he take Nie Huaisang hand and tell him about Wei Ying.

Baby Huaisang has a idea, he open the dogs kennel and the dogs jumps at him, making him cry for help.

Mingjue comes quickly and make the dog run away (without killing them, he'll not kill some kid's pets) and sees Wei Wuxian, covered by bites, in tears, with dirty clothes, scars of whipping, and become furious.

I don't know if his father is already dead yet, BUT whatever he's the sect leader or the sect leader heir, he'll take Wei Ying with him.

Soon everyone in the cultivation world knows that Madam Yu put a little child in a kennel without reason.

Some rumors say that she was crazy and thought it was JFM's bastard when, really, the kid looked just like Wei Changze. Seriously this woman is blind?

Others says that she took advantage that it was a poor little orphan to hurt him without consequences just because she could. And that she is a sadist who loves to tortures children.

Very quickly, people come to take their children from Lotus Piers. Because what if their child was the next target? Especially when their family is poor.

JFM tries to tell them that it's riculous, it's a mistunderstading. Wei Ying was scared of dogs, it was to show him that dog were harmless. and he's a very turbulant kid. She cares for him but he needed to be disciplined. He wouldn't have let her going too far.

But nobody believe him.

Madam Yu is furious again her son but he refuses to apologize.

LP loses a lot of reputation with the rumors of child abuse.

Meanwhile Wei Ying becomes healthly and become quickly NHS best friend, they do a lot of mischiefs. NMJ acts like he's grumpy about it but smiles when he sees them running around the sect.

Upon learning that he married his sister, Jin Guangyao covers his tracks and Lan Wangji is found in a compromising position with QS, and is forced to take responsibility for her unborn child.

And Rusong spends a life time trying to earn his father's approval, unsuccessfully.

(He's unaware that following their farce of a marriage, both LWJ and Qin Su agreed to live separately and raise their own child without the involvement of the other.)

Then WWX get resurrected. He'll do anything to get rid of that homewrecker, even if he has to threaten his brother Sizhui to silence. It's his father, LWJ, that catches him in the act. He smiles upon seeing him. Now everything would be fine, he killed the miscreant that was bothering him. A demonic cultivator, a cutsleeve lunatic, the murderer of 3000 men. Perhaps he'd finally be proud of him, for once.

LOVE THAT

I would say that this is more of a bittersweet though than a sad one, but imagine an AU in which wangxian realize their feelings for each other sooner, or maybe a time travel AU in which they are already madly in love because they've been married for a while, now lwj visits wwx in Yunmeng so they spend all day together and are basically having a date (not that any of the adults know, they are keeping it a secret still), eventually Jiang Fengmian sees them and at first he finds it endearing that wwx has made a new friend, however the more he looks at them he realizes that they aren't only friends, wwx and lwj are in love. Jfm's heart breaks a little because he knows that just like his father wwx will leave him.

He had hoped Wei Ying loved his home and his family enough to always return to it. He saw the same wanderlust in Wei Wuxian that he saw in Wei Changze. He had given Wei Ying freedom to travel, praying that he would always come home. He had done the same with Changze.

He should have known better than to hope.

I've seen quite a few 'what if LXC k*lled himself while in seclusion' scenarios, but I don't think I've seen many focusing on NHS's reaction to it.

I'm imagining him getting the news via a letter, just a to-the-point 'sect leader lan is dead'. There's no details bc obvs the Lans wouldn't want everyone to know exactly how/why LXC had died, but NHS knows how to find things out and he eventually learns the truth.

He can't help feeling guilty bc he knows it's at least partly his fault - he tricked LXC into stabbing JGY, after all, using him in a similar way to how JGY had used him to kill NMJ, and he didn't try checking up on LXC afterwards even tho he saw how badly he was doing.

But perhaps the thing that hurts the worst is that he knows NMJ would have hated him for it. Da-ge might have been proud/impressed at how NHS utterly destroyed JGY's life, but there's no way he'd have wanted LXC to be hurt by it in any way. And now NHS has to live with the fact that he's at least somewhat responsible for the death of Da-ge's closest friend

He didn't want this to happen. He truly didn't.

Yes, he placed some of blame on Lan Xichen. He made sure Lan Xichen knew it too. He hoped that little seed would stay with the other sect leader for the rest of his days- the guilt that would haunt him forevermore. Nie Huaisang was satisfied with that punishment.

He didn't think it would consume Lan Xichen. He didn't think it would drive him to take his own life.

Maybe he had underestimated how much Xichen loved his brother.
