my problem is i think every character concept can be improved by making them a little nonbinary. this has created a comically unrealistic concentration of People With A Weird Gender Thing Going On in my stories and i will not be stopping any time soon. im genders georg.
One way to get tasks done in the day is to make yourself a Chekhov's List. Put all of the things you have to do on a list, and now that they've been revealed they'll need to be completed by the afternoon (third act) and when you've completed something you can Chekov that task from the list
smartest cat ever!
LIKES TO CHARGE REBLOGS TO CAST
"bottom" please consider 🫵 whether the word you are looking for is in fact "submissive" ! because if we decide that taking dick means your personality & character r inherently subservient 😃 we might as well just throw in the towel on the most basic premise of feminism & 🔫 kill ourselves 🎉
not getting enough attention i might die
please i need him to die on 4th of july gaudy as fuck 'america 250' celebration that would be the funniest thing ever i wouldn't even bitch about the fireworks. i wouldn't even do that.
and this isn't even getting into harm that's genuinely necessary! i read a book recently that was intended to educate people in healthcare about medical trauma, written by a medical professional who found that there weren't existing resources to help her cope with the aftermath of the extremely traumatic c section that saved her life. the whole tone of the book was "i know you've never thought about this before, but walk with me through this case study" and it's aimed at other medical professionals! it's aimed at the people who are doing this harm, and so many of them think that people aren't allowed to find it harmful just because it's necessary!
so many trauma resources assume that your trauma is from a specific person or people who treated you in a way that society deems unacceptable. if your trauma doesn't fit that profile then you're left sitting there like. idk i dont think most of this stuff applies to me. where are the resources for people like me.
if you were ever scared or in pain and were told that you had to grin and bear it because it's necessary for you to do the thing that scares and hurts you, you are allowed to say that that was traumatic. you are allowed to say that you were scared and in pain and that even if this was the least bad option, even if it was lifesaving, it still was not okay. something being necessary does not inherently make it okay.
i think i still have mild trauma from a dentistry-related thing some years back, and it was completely voluntary and i wanted it, just, the experience was actually really upsetting. like, totally worth it in overall outcomes, just. wow, yeah. i do not want to ever do that again.
i have more than one thing that saved my life and traumatized me.
I'm a juvenile diabetic: relatedly, I used to be crippled by CPTSD. it turns out, infants dislike needles, and having your primary caregivers administer them daily can be bad for those relationships. I had no sense of trauma as the etiology of my issues for a while, because I couldn't find any 'abuse' in my history.
I remember talking to a psychologist: guy was like "are you absolutely sure you weren't abused as a child? I am literally a therapist, so you can tell me". when I demurred, he was like "truly? because you really really come across like you were, and I meet a lot of people with that history".
it was only after a parent mentioned that I'd go quiet and waxy during injections (tonic immobility, in retrospect) that I started to consider whether the lifesaving medical care I received had negative psychological effects.
As both a physician and a patient, I get this on both sides. I remember distinctly the trauma of my own hospitalization. How I never wanted any of my patients to feel the way I felt. How absolutely dehumanizing it was and how I left feeling as if more harm than help had happened.
Now, as a hospitalist, legit the primary doctor for most hospitalized patients, I still recognize that there are some traumas to patients and families that cannot be undone because the treatment that saved your life is also the treatment that will haunt you forever. It sucks. It’s horrible. We have medical advancements beyond anything previously seen in history, but those advancements also come with a price on your mental health and psyche.
I’m always graphic when I talk about code status, meaning if a patient wants CPR and/or intubation. I say your ribs will break if we do it right. That there are no guarantees of resuscitation and even if we do resuscitate you, no guarantees about coming off the vent or what recovery will be like. It is a yes or no question, where you either want us to or not because there is no nuance if your heart stops or you stop breathing. Running a code is traumatic for the patient and the team. Just because we remain calm and know what we are doing doesn’t mean it isn’t also an awful experience. I wish I could explain to people how horrible that experience is so they knew what they were agreeing to before we are in the position of having to resuscitate a body that cannot come back.
It’s hard to recognize it if it isn’t talked about. But I promise there are people in healthcare who care and want to help.
That “cringe” nonbinary xenogender genderfuck therian who uses neopronouns and may or may not go on HRT while being loudly, proudly themselves will always be more revolutionary and subversive than a binary trans person who aggressively reproduces the cis status quo and shames anyone who doesn’t do the same.
By the way, I threw “therian” in here as a bit of a litmus test for those responding to it as something widely regarded as “cringe” but ultimately completely harmless and benign that’s often maligned by people with conservative beliefs. And well. It did its job quite amazingly given how many of the negative responses I’ve seen have focused on that rather than the overall message of shaming people for their identities is bad and counterproductive. It’s almost like these people view all of those stated identities this way but used the silly furry one as a “weak point” they’d get minimal pushback on to dismiss the very clear point of the post. Literally hilarious honestly

Conservative beauty standards are back with a vengeance which means it's especially important to go out this summer with bellies out and bodies unshaved. Also be unapologetically disabled with mobility aids and wearable medical devices and stim toys and ear defenders and all that stuff. You need it. People need to see it. Everyone needs to be reminded that life is unquestioningly more enjoyable when you're not living inside an arbitrary set of rules created by people who are offended by all the wrong things.
Caught myself spiraling and then remembered it's just my body not wanting to exist in these temperatures
