Food pics incoming!
Look at me, all domesticated. On Sunday, I made our fav pizza, as requested by one of my kiddos. Vegan Garlic Habanero Potato White pizza!
... and (not vegan!) "In the Dark" Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel Pie inspired by the little pie jars being served during the intermission for Waitress!
I'm slowly getting back on track. This was a "last meal", of sorts, after returning from a little weekend getaway to St. Louis where the kiddos and I saw Waitress with my mom. We had seen it recently in our hometown, but we were happy to revisit it with her. It's one of our favs! Such a gorgeous theater. Totally over the top!
I am trying to handle A LOT from grateful place: divorce lawyer has been hired, considering a job change, a getaway cruise is around the corner (end of this month!) and I recently renewed our season tickets for the theater so finances are a little tight (worth it!). Bonus: family stress, and so forth. But therein lies life, right? Daily dramas. Minutiae. Upheaval. That's where change happens. I am celebrating living vs. merely existing! Waistlines, be damned.
So I have been sort of spinning wheels as far as weight loss progress goes, and I WAS okay with that. But NOW? I'm ready to harness this sense of impetus and work on some healthy habits.
You'll probably being seeing a little more of me? Maybe. Hopefully!
Ever onward.
I recently got into Zombies, Run and I love it! Found your blog by searchin that tag, I am sending you all the encouragement! Remember to focus on health, not weight; good food and exercise, not fad diets or calories; and never give up!!! I wish you the best of luck on your fitness journey! And know that you are an absolute Queen regardless of what the weight scale says! (Hope it's alright to say this 💖💖💖)
Oh, my goodness! You have no idea how much I appreciate your kind encouragement. Please know that you are a blessing. I want nothing but happiness for you in return. 💜
I am in a really weird place right now, just crawling back onto the wagon. I've been in a bit of a gray spot as adulting has been hard lately!
You've inspired me to fire up the old Zombies, Run playlist (I hope you love Sam as much as I do, fellow Runner 5!) and go for a walk once I get out of my meeting with my divorce lawyer.
For me. For you. For health. For happiness. For new beginnings!
(Thank you.)
Therapist’s Advice Here
1. Be kind to yourself. Give yourself a break. Stop saying hateful things to yourself.
2. Do something creative if you can.
3. Sit with, notice, and accept your feelings just as they are.
4. Set boundaries, with others and with yourself.
5. Work on assuming others have good intentions even if people in the past haven’t, or unless you have a clear reason not to.
6. The abuse or mistreatment you experienced was NOT your fault.
7. Half ass things vs. not doing them at all. Nothing has to be perfect. There is no such thing as perfect, even.
8. Your worth is not tied to your looks, your success, or your productivity.
9. Reach out to people regularly if you can. Schedule time to see friends. Remember that you are connected and loved, far more than you feel like it.
10. The sadness will pass. The anxiety will pass. The urge to harm yourself will pass. You will not feel like this forever. There will be time and life on the other side.

Today's new recipe: Slow Cooker Lentil Quinoa Taco Filling
Lentil-Quinoa Taco Filling contains no soy or gluten yet, has an almost meaty texture that tacos love. Add seasonal veggies as a nice additi
I made a few alterations to the recipe. I doubled it, adding oregano and cumin. I also cooked it in the Instant Pot for 10 minutes instead of the crockpot. There was a suggestion in the reviews to put it under broiler for a few to dry it out a bit for a meat-like texture. It must have e worked because my mom thought it was ground beef! So delicious.
Here's my version dressed with cilantro rice:
My daily weight:
My work is having a potluck BBQ tomorrow. GROAN. I've been told to being something for me, but it looms menacingly like a potential stumbling block. I committed to my lifestyle, and I'd rather save the calories for pizza with the family. We'll see.
Happy Friday!
