The 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s seem to have all separate, unique personalities, but these last 17 years seem to just be one big chunk of time that has no significant meaning.
FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT
These last 17 years have an “oh no” feel that just gets bigger and louder with each consecutive year
Nobody realizes it yet, but there’s a big difference between the 2000s and the end of the 2010 decade.
Exhibit A:
Brown and orange “earthy tones” 2000s home decor.
versus
The gray and white interior design of the 2010s
And the fashion! The 10s with the rise of athleisure and top knots, the 00s with velour and platform flip flops. The makeup has changed dramatically in the 10s. The music went from pop divas in the 00s (Gaga, Katy Perry, Beyoncé) to rap as pop music with some outliers, and the rise of urban country on pop. Food is totally different, as well. Y’all are just too young to remember.
Fuck not to mention, it was the 10s when everyone starting carrying tiny computers in their pockets. The 00s were about iPods and the 10s have been about iPhones and that in itself has been a MASSIVE cultural shift.
