When overweight, losing weight (in correct way of course, not starving) is healthy. When underweight losing weight is extremely dangerous. There are two sides to this of course. Although I am talking purely about losing weight when overweight.
Being overweight is cause of many health issues. Doesn't automatically mean unhealthy, BUT it's very often cause of deaseases or at least some smaller issues (like knee or back pains). There is a big correlation between fat and unhealthy, you can't just decide to ignore it. It extremely increases many health risks, therefore it is not good for you in way too many ways. I don't ask you to take my word for it, there are actual researches to back me up.
1. Here is what World's health organization has to say about obesity (https://www.who.int/topics/obesity/en/): "Overweight and obesity are major risk factors for a number of chronic diseases, including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and cancer."
2. Or an actual paper backed up with facts and researches about obesity: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.who.int/medicines/areas/priority_medicines/BP6_18Obesity.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjHsNTKi-3oAhWysaQKHexoDvIQFjAEegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw1uJdtN8o-93kPpsp2Nw0Wc&cshid=1587045509403
Quoting just first sentence: "Obesity is a chronic and multi-factorial disease and one of the most important causes of
morbidity and premature mortality worldwide."
- please note, they actually classify obesity as desease here. So please tell me how being overweight is not unhealthy and why shouldn't we consider getting better and achievement? When you get out of depression, or even more, beat cancer, you don't consider it a win? I do.
I understand your way of thinking. But you can either get better, or have a high self esteem. The second one might actually kill you if you have bigger overweight. I am also sorry you had trouble losing weight, but starving is not a solution. You need to consult doctors and other professionals about safe diet, quality exercise etc. In extreme cases when it is extremely hard to lose weight, there are surgical solutions here (but should be used only when there is no other way as last resort). I do not promote it, at all. I believe that everyone can lose weight with will and some help.
You are talking about mental issues, indeed, that is a real problem. But you don't solve those by saying "I won't try, cause I will fail and then get depression". Just imagine if we were doing everything this way. "I won't apply for that job, because I might not get it.". And how about those people that tried, succeeded and made their lives better? Or better, it helped them with mental issues and self esteem? And when you do fail, there is where the precessional (and also friends and family) steps in.
Sorry for the long post, I just needed to write it :)
