i think that all stories are about consumption, performance, and/or narrative, and the best combine elements of all three
a thesis as a series of posed questions
consumption: who and what is consuming or being consumed? who is invited to the table? who is given scraps and who eats well? is the consumption an act of love or of violence? is the act of consuming performed alone or with others? is the act of consumption one of ritual, survival, eroticism, pain? who is fed and who starves?
performance: who and what is performing? is there an audience? what is an audience? is the performative act a conscious one? is it a performance if there is no audience? who is watching? who is watching the watchers? does it matter?
narrative: whose story is being told? who is telling the story? whose story is being erased? who is aware they are in a story? who is trying to escape? is the narrative linear, does it loop, does it move backwards? is there a resolution? is the story about the conclusion or the action itself? what haunts this story?

Dear Universe,
I am going to stop being an overly sensitive, sentimental, and dramatic human being which I have been for the past 22 years. From now on, I am -- not I will -- I am going to be a ray of sunshine. I will choose Happiness everyday and yes, I am aware that it is not going to be easy and that Melancholy, Fear, Nervousness, Stress, Pressure, and Frustration will often come and visit to occupy my mind but I am going to keep on calling for Joy, Adventure, Optimism, Passion, Bravery, Discipline, and Creativity to accompany me. No, I will not push the Negatives away because that’s just not plausible - they are here to make life more interesting, even more meaningful, and whether we like it or not, they make us more human. They will always be at the backseat in any of the rides I take in life, always have been and always will be. The Negatives are my comfort zone, they make me feel home. But the Positives are the ones that will make me soar high for me to realize that my capabilities are boundless and that my dreams are, in fact, reachable. That the very thing/person limiting me is myself. So Universe, I ask you conspire for this.
Sweet tooth
I have been battling against sugar addiction since February 2017. My addiction seem to have started way back in my childhood, as my dad would buy bags of chocolates whenever he arrived home as he was an OFW. But it was only last February did I realize that my normal sugar intake was not so normal -- it was insanely too much. I could devour a pack of kisses in one sitting and still drink a coffee with chocolate syrup a few hours after that. It took a toll on me last February when I started feeling nauseous with my head feeling like it was being pounded on, and I ended up taking a cab on the way home -- to which I vomitted. I tried cutting down on my sugar intake -- no cakes, no milkteas, no coffee with chocolate syrup, no chocolates. For about a month, I was able to keep up with this lifestyle along with regular workout. But when life started throwing stress at me again, I longed for sugar to keep me sane and happy. And so I spend a good deal of my willpower on a daily basis deciding whether I can or cannot eat that bar of chocolate in the refrigerator. Here I am, 6 months later and I am still in the same place where I started. Lifestyle change is difficult. But it doesn’t mean that it isn’t possible. I will keep trying to change -- health should be a priority.

I HAVE BEEN STUCK IN MY ROOM FOR YEARS AND I AM (TEMPORARILY) FREE FROM ALL RESPONSIBILITIES. . I was terribly terrified at the thought of hiking without a pro-hiker as a companion. I was with my younger sister and her batchmate in college and I felt obliged to ensure the safety of these lasses. I wanted to back out at the last minute (my mother’s insistent reminder of the dangers of the current weather wavered my conviction to the point that I almost gave in) but the curious wanderer in me remained sturdy with the decision. I’ve been craving adventure for the longest time. This is only the beginning. :)
Is it too ambitious to want equality and equity for all?
As I get older, it gets more and more difficult and suffocating to live in a world that dictates what and how one should act. Try to defy the norm, with all its absurdities and irrationalities, and you’ll get misunderstood, scolded, reprimanded. The fight has started long before I was born and too much has been achieved -- yet, there is still a long way to go. Yet being outspoken and strong nowadays, especially as a woman, for things you fight for is still considered rude, wrong, disrespectful. I grew up believing that respect should be earned and yet people demand it as if it is a gift that should be given for free. Arguments of the traditionalists have not improved at all yet their fist has remained sturdy, strong, willing to break the bones of whoever goes against the flow.
As a girl, a younger individual -- you shouldn’t speak when crap is being thrown at you by someone older, most especially by a man. No, control your temper when the person in front of you cannot get hold of his own emotions. Be the bigger person. Be nice. Always. Just shut your mouth and don’t fight.
I say, “Woman, put on your armor.”
DISCLAIMER: I am not against all males. I am against a lot of things and one of which is physical abuse. Context or no context, there is a much better and wholesome way to settle an argument than hitting a woman or anyone. “Don’t raise your voice, improve your argument.”
Take the chance. Dream big. Go now. Speak up. Say what you’ve always wanted to say. What is life without being terrified by possibility?
My blog is slowly turning into a fitblr. :)
Other people are out in the beach enjoying the tropical country that we have this Holy Week while I stay in the condo with our dog and my brother. Just saying, not complaining! HAHA I need to keep the body healthy though. Since the gym was closed, I decided to do a 25-minute HIIT (which I finished in about 45-minutes due to prolonged rest periods; guess my body is really deconditioned huh). After which, I cleaned the living room/dining room/kitchen and washed the yoga mat, my Herschel bag (which I am not fond of washing because it becomes too heavy when soaked in water), a towel I use for watercolor, and a pouch bag. I also did some thesis work but since it involved reading articles, I had to rest from time to time. I also spent the day watching Youtube videos about health and wellness. My week may not be as fun but at least it’s productive (sort of). HAHA

This was back when one of the subjects I was taking had a requirement for us to take part in regular physical activity. I just love how this course promotes active lifestyle. I bet I won’t be as health conscious as I currently am and I won’t do something to ensure that my body is conditioned if I took a different course.
i. I was not able to do strenuous exercises today in the gym but to be able to get my butt off the couch and into the gym was already a feat in itself. I was extra lazy these past few days but I still managed to go. I just have to keep reminding myself that fitness is a lifestyle. It isn’t an activity I can do in one day and not perform for the rest of the week. This is also applicable to the food I eat. It isn’t wise to eat healthy in one meal and munch on junk foods (in my case, lots of chocolates) for the rest of the day. We should constantly choose what is the best for our body. But, of course, our body also requires rest and a bit of sweets won’t hurt. Just keep it balanced.
ii. On another note, I recently made a resolution to stop drinking coffee. I know it is feasible. I know that it would take a while for me to get used to not drinking coffee everyday. But I realized after a while that I am not myself if I’m not drinking coffee early in the morning or late at night. I realized that it is not something that harms my body, if taken in moderation. I realized that it isn’t a bad habit, so why try to take it out? Why prioritize removing coffee from daily life if I could prioritize decreasing my time wasted on social media? Why remove something that boosts productivity? So, to the kitchen I went and brewed myself a cup of coffee. (Once a Gilmore girl, always a Gilmore girl)
"Don't think too much," they said but all I can think of is you; and you're just too much of everything.
Almost 5 years of trust, love, care, tulungan, kumustahan, keri mo pa yan, aral tayo, tanungan tayo, bibili ka ba ng kape sa 7eleven / ministop, library lockdown, gala, hugs, iyakan, chismisan, damayan, sharing of food, sharing of hardships, breaking down, etc. Kayo na.
Last week of clinical rotation: torn between wanting the week to end so we can all rest or not wanting to end the week so we can spend more time together. They were my family for the past 8 months and hopefully they will stay as my friends for the rest of my life. This is too cheesy but I love love them so much.
I did get better, yet there is still so much room for improvement. I think that's a good thing though! One more week for our clinical rotation and my subcluster group will disperse and go our separate ways (I can't believe this huhu my heart is breaking). I love love these people and I will always be eternally grateful to the Lord for having them by my side through one of the most challenging year of my life!
