Kayla was nearly surprised by Anna’s words, but she wasn’t as surprised as she almost was grateful. This would make things easier, yet more complicated all at the same time. For a few moments she was quiet, biting down on the inside of her cheek. “Yeah,” she nodded her head, “sounds like a good plan to me.” Her hands nervously flitted at the bottom of her shirt, adjusting the hem. Kayla was not often nervous, and she couldn’t detect why for this, she was.
Anna’s lips curved into a soft smile, she didn’t fight it. It was no secret that she was pleased, happy about the results. “Awesome,” she mumbled, taking a step backwards, just enough to place her change for her apple on the counter. “I live right around the corner, not a very far walk.” She couldn’t help but notice Kayla’s worrisome toying of her clothes, the little things she had been trained to catch. She didn’t say anything, didn’t even want to say anything. For now she was simply grateful about having a pretty girl come to her house.
