WIP: Soulmate Cottage
What if we found our soulmate in a different time?
Henry Goodfellow died in 1899 in his small, cottage home. He’s been stuck in his home, however, for the past 123 years.
Paige Sullivan finally found a place close enough for her college in the UK to stay for her year abroad. Her degree in English from a top school in the US allowed her to get a scholarship that paid for the house due to its age, in addition to her recent inheritance from her parents' freak accident.
The tiny cottage leads to unexpected love growing between decades. Can you meet your soulmate after they’ve died?
“Henry. How old are you?” I ask, shifting the weight between my legs. I have to look up at him, his broad shoulders tower over me as I look through my eyelashes.
“Twenty-seven, why?” He puts his hands on the edge of the bed, as if he is leaning, but the bed doesn’t move— not even the fabric. And then, it’s as if I’m waking up from a dream to finally face reality. A shiver rushes down my spine as I gather the courage to ask my next question.
“How… long have you been twenty- seven, Henry?” His jaw is set, the tension could cut like a knife through butter as sadness enters his eyes. He knows I know.
“I’ve been twenty-seven for one hundred and twenty three years, Paige.”
