GT: *Actually thinks this one through for once* Oh no, thats alright! I thought since it was such a nice night and all, we could begin our cultural exchange up on deck!
AG: *face 8rightens* Oh, yes, certainly! *closes the door 8ehind her and follows him*
GT: *He produces a pen and notepad from his pocket, gesturing with them as he climbs the stairs* Im all set and ready to learn as much as possible!
GT: Though i must confess its going to take it all a while to settle properly in the old noggin.

GT: *Flips through to an empty page, resting the pencil against his chin* Well, if you dont mind there is one area of interest that i might like to look at first! Its a little specific to my own current situation, actually.

GT: The thing is, eridan has asked me, in his way, if i might auspitpat-what have you between him and my friend callie. I take it theyre in one of those hate snog scenarios? Anyway.
GT: I want very much to help, as theyre both my chums and while getting on with their loathery is all well and good, i dont either of them really hurt!
AG: *Eye8rows disappear into her hairline. This is NEW.*
GT: *Does this count as gossip who knoooows he sure doesn't* But then the problem becomes that i havent really the foggiest what that might entail!
GT: Its something to do with grey? Do i make the black less black??
AG: Firstly, if they are in a caliginous rel8ionship, you must understand that in a kismesissitude, one does not hurt the quadrantm8 to the point of permanent injury. Take it as your human love 8ut at a more...violent scale without the prospect of actually dying.
GT: *nods whilst furiously taking notes* I see...
AG: In a 8lackrom the individuals still care for each other very much, regardless of outward appearances.
GT: *Makes a "huh!" face as he draws a heart and underlines it*
AG: Woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah! It's not a m8spirtship, however. I guess the easiest way to explain is seeing it as a rivalry coupled with attraction. One kismesis should not h8 more than the other, otherwise the rel8ionship collapses. That is where you come in if you were willing to take the role as an auspistice.
GT: Oh! Not like amor then... *pauses with his pen over the paper before shading the symbol in and writing 'rivalry with smooches' very small underneath it where she won't be able to see* So its supposed to be entirely equal?
AG: *She can read minds though. Sorry Jake, you can't ninja your way out of this one.*

AG: If you wish to pursue auspisticism, your jo8 would 8e to ensure that a certain 8alance remains 8etween the two. You would 8asically act as a mediator only if the rel8ionship were to cross into a du8ious territory where life or the rel8ionship itself is thre8ned. Like in a moirallegiance, an auspisticism contains no intent to reproduce.

GT: How might this be achieved?
AG: This 8alance is important in that if it is not sustained at a neutral level, the rel8ionship will disrupt. An example you may know well is that of Orphaner Dualscar and Marquise Spinneret Mindfang. Without an auspistice, Dualscar's jealousy and h8 exceeded that of Mindfang's and their rel8ionship crum8led.
AG: 8asically, it is the auspistice's call whether or not he or she 8elieves that he or she should intervene.
AG: This is why auspisticism is still considered a grey area to most trolls. There isn't a specific guide8ook or set of rules to follow. One must 8e willing to 8e o8servant and patient in this quadrant.
GT: Oh goodness... Thats quite a lot of responsibility then! Im not even sure if id have the expertise to do it, let alone the smarts!
GT: I do want to help though, of course i do!
GT: And i suppose my fear always was that poor callie might not yet have it in her to engage in the whole total nemeses thing - shes such a kind girl, i dont think id believe her capable of hate if eridan hadnt told me!
AG: You seem like the perfect person for the jo8! At the very least you're interested in volunteering to 8e an auspistice. Not many in caliginous rel8ionships have an auspistice to thank.
GT: Haha, when you put it that way... You honestly think i should give it a go?
AG: Of course I do! There is no reason why you shouldn't. You seem capa8le as well as caring, and I 8elieve that with those qualities, even a first-time auspistice will perform admira8ly.

GT: Is there any protocol for such a proposal? How formal do i need to be?
GT: Should i maybe write it as a proper letter instead?
AG: I'm sure a ver8al response to Eridan's request will suffice. It doesn't require a letter of commitment, just a simple, "I will 8e your auspistice."
GT: *whacks one fist into his other palm, almost dropping the notepad off his lap* Very well then! Ill get on that asap.
AG: Hahahaha! I like your enthusiasm!
GT: Im told its one of my better traits, heh.

AG: Oh, yes! Moirallegiance! It is not rel8d to reproduction, and focuses on the opposite end of the rel8ionship spectrum towards pity, or in human words "love," just as auspisticism is rel8d to h8.
AG: I guess when thinking a8out it, moirails also medi8, 8ut it more of protecting their partner from destructive 8ehavior.
GT: *Draws another heart, this time with a line around it like a wall or a barrier*

GT: Destructive behaviour, you say? You mean towards others?
AG: Towards others, towards themselves. Whichever is needed. Moirails, in a sense, watch over each other and guard psychological well-8eing rather than physical well-8eing, which is more along the lines of what auspistices do.
GT: *Frowns slightly before adding a crude representation of a brain to his notes* A sort of counselor, so to speak?
GT: But still with a degree of friendship and good spirit shared between the two parties?
AG: I suppose that's another way to put it, yes.
AG: In a way, moirails are guardians of their partner's heart, protecting them from harm whether it 8e 8y their hand or others.
GT: *Taps his pencil on paper thoughtfully after writing all that down* My, that does sound rather special.
GT: I can see why roxy and jane werent adverse to the notion!
AG: Like all rel8ionships, it is a responsi8ility! Pro8a8ly one of the more important ones, to 8e honest. Some trolls have prevented self-destructive 8ehavior and even halted mass murders 8y simply pacifying their moirail.

I suppose a way to clarify is that those in the desatur8d quadrants do what they must to protect those they care a8out. *stares at him for a moment as he says the pun and laughs a little after he is done speaking* I only hope it doesn't come to pass as with Horuss.
GT: *Nods along still in deep englishy thought until she laughs* Whats this about horace?
AG: Er, I don't mean to say that m8sprits and kismeses don't care a8out their quadrantm8s, 8ut just that pale and ashen have a duty to look out for one another.
AG: Horuss lost all memory of past events. From the point of our resurrection up until a couple weeks ago, his recall has 8een stripped completely.
AG: He doesn't even remem8er when- *-when we made dirt trolls in a field and leveled a forest.* Well, point is, he doesn't remem8er.
GT: Jupiter's beard, nothing??
AG: *Sighs silently and slowly shakes her head.* ::::(
