hi, i am alli

this is a side blog so I can ramble about the rat life without clogging up my main too much. Despite the blog name, this is probably the more 'personal' acc.

I use she/her pronouns but the occasional they/them is appreciated too (doesn't really exist in my native language, so it's nice to try out some other possibilities in languages where it is more common).

anyway, I wrote this post so I can pin it but I actually didn't have a plan on what to say, so I might revise this later.

aaaaa omg i need to read babel i keep hearing about it :o and in the lives of puppets is on my tbr rn i have a signed copy from when i went to a book festival and met tj klune :D

Klune is one of my favorite authors at the moment, I cannot wait for his newer books to be translated into German (I started reading his books in German and now I am attached to the translator as well and refuse to read the English one first lol)

I found out yesterday (or two days ago?) that the finale of his gay trilogy is called... Heat Waves. Like ok, buddy.

what’s ur favorite book you’ve read so far this year :0

Uhh good question! (Not an easy one though)

Babel by R. F. Kuang (fantasy book, main themes are colonialism, elitism and individual vs collective identity) was a very interesting read, especially since we read it as a book club read and it provided a lot of material to have a lengthy discussion about.

But I wouldn't necessarily say it was my favorite because while the book itself was good, it was definitely the discussion it sparked that made it outstanding.

The title of favorite would probably have to go to my re-read of the Ruby Red Trilogy by Kerstin Gier (romantasy, stupid teenagers in love but they can also time travel to make it even more complicated). I have to admit the series is quite 'old'; not like super old but it does show sometimes that it has been a few years since its release date.

I am also quite sure that the books aren't actually that good but they are packed with so much nostalgia and good memories for me (reading them for the first time as a kid, re-reading them with friends when we were a bit older, coming back to those books every other year, etc.) that the comfort those books manage to spend for me is INSANE.

Oh and currently I am reading In the Lives of Puppets by T. J. Klune which I also absolutely adore! I am not done yet though so it doesn't count for this list :)
