@anonymouslayman-blog
I only just realized that nobody in my christian tumblr sphere is so much as dignifying Roy Moore with their attention.
You guys are my salvation.
My faith wouldn’t be half as strong as it is now if it hadn’t been for my friends of other religions forcing me to examine my beliefs so if you’re afraid of interfaith dialogue you should probably think about why that is
A horse walks into a bar. The bartender says, “you’re in here alot, are you an alcoholic?”
The horse ponders for a minute and responds “I don’t think I am” And poof he disappears
This is where philosophy students start to snicker, as they are familiar with Descartes postulate, “I think, therefore I am.”
But telling you that first would be putting Descartes before the horse
GO TO YOUR ROOM!
You forgot the gif:
Jesus told the story of the Prodigal Son to make a simple point: never mind what you’ve done, just come home.

Someone who has been emotionally abused will:
• Constantly apologize • Hide their feelings in fear of upsetting you • Break down during small disagreements thinking it will explode • Need a lot of reassurance Please be patient, we are trying.
That describes my wife all too accurately.Â
Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you.

Underrated Christmas Song Thread
Please reblog with your favourites! My list:
1. Fairytale of New York by The Pogues- it’s so dark and atmospheric, I’m absolutely obsessed.
2. When the Thames Froze by Smith & Burrows- there are not many Christmas songs with “God damn this government” in them, so you’ve gotta appreciate the ones you have.
3.Christmas Lights (cover) by Scala & Kolacny Brothers- don’t remember who did the original and don’t care, this cover is super magical and wistful and beautiful.
4. The Holly and the Ivy by basically any choir- If done well, makes you feel like you’re walking down a snowy street with church bells ringing all around you, harmonizing with the whistling of the winter winds.
Oh yes, I’m on the naughty list. :)
A lot of adulthood is shouting “AUGH MY LAUNDRY” hours after you put it in the washer/dryer and running to go fetch it
oh shit my laundry
reblog to save someone’s laundry
I tumbl every week while doing my laundry, so I identify with this strongly.
Please reblog if you’re a catholic blog and wouldn’t mind another follower!! Trying to deepen my faith.🌹
The Betrayal of Christ by Judas - Caravaggio // Mr Brightside, The Killers
Jesus, I pray my words are a warm hug to the people who need it most.
This is a great goal!
Older Christians are always griping about how “the kids” should learn to follow Jesus. I sometimes wonder if they’ve ever considered the possibility that the younger generations *are* following Jesus. That maybe the path leads not towards traditional values, but away from them towards something better.
When you think about it, a thousand or so years ago, the ancestors of the protestant churches were all Catholic. A thousand years before that, the ancestors of catholics and protestants alike would have been Jews or pagans or somesuch. Go back even further, and they all worshiped ancestral spirits. The only reason we worship the way we do today is because our grandfathers grandfathers grandfathers decided that the old ways weren’t good enough and went looking for a deeper, better relationship with God. Are we really so arrogant to believe that here and now, we are the crowning achievement of humanity’s search for God? That none shall ever come after us who shall be better? Is not this very attitude the same thing that drove our ancestors away from the traditions they were raised in? And aren’t we doing them a disservice if we allow ourselves to become the same thing that they built their own churches to get away from?
Prayer request: my husband got diagnosed with leukemia on Monday evening. Prayers needed for his healing, for his doctors, and for all of us to stay hopeful. He’s doing well mostly and is stable but intubated and sedated while he undergoes some blood transfusions and his first rounds of chemo.Â
We’re in shock and could use any prayers you can offer.
We are praying especially to St. Kateri Tekakwitha and St. Jane de Chantal, our two girls’ patrons, for intercession.
We aren’t to be known by how many bible verses we’ve learnt.
We aren’t to be known by how many conferences we attend.
We aren’t to be known by the church we go to or how regularly we go to church.
We aren’t to be known by our theology.
We aren’t to be known by t shirts, bumper stickers and badges.
We aren’t to be known by Facebook statuses, tweets and tumblr posts.
We are to known by how we love one another.
Which is the original: catholicism or orthodox?
This anon wants to relive the schism of 1054 through Tumblr discourse
Maybe if we do it through cat gifs...
