This is important. Share this- education costs (particularly in the US are crippling enough without the added expense of texts) As a professor, go the extra mile and find/make ārequiredā readings/texts available in PDF form.
If you like having the physical copy (like I do) a great site is bigwords.com. it cross-references a ton of book sellers to find the best and cheapest deals. Most of my textbooks cost under $20 through them, and I rarely rent.
Need this!
College textbooks are a scam.
When I was in college (about 15 years ago) it was a constant cycle of:
1. Pay over $100 for texrbook.
2. Barely use it all semester.
3. Try to sell back to bookstore just to be told, āwe arent buying those back. there will be new book next semester.ā.
And this isnt even the soft sciences like psychology or socialogy where change happens fairly quickly. We talking math. What has changed in college level calculus in the last 50 years that warrants a brand new textbook every 6 months?
And it doent help that a lot of professors these days help write texts books and get kickbacks for them being sold. Basically meaning your own professor may be requiring you to pay for a textbook he/she helped create.

Iām not sure how to explain, but this doesnāt help everyone. I have a very very hard time doing heavy reading electronically. I do much better with actual books. Unless thereās a way to print all the pdfs for free? Then yay!
This might be helpful:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/beeline-reader/ifjafammaookpiajfbedmacfldaiamgg?utm_source=chrome-app-launcher-info-dialogĀ Click here to get it
Oh yes! Iāve seen that before, maybe from you! It IS helpful, but for textbooks I feel like I still also need to have that tangible access to all the pages, like to flip around with colored tabs and such.
Maybe itās because I just have never explored how to browse large texts on a device.
Ah I see. Yeah that would definitely be a roadblock :/ I think at the very least it could be used for ctrl-f searching if youāre looking for something but yeah without being able to print it, that does suck :(
Since the semester is gonna start soon..

Many colleges are aware that there are free online textbooks, and they work to avoid making them usable - they have contracts with the publishing companies, so they require readings from specific chapters of specific editions of specific books, and sometimes make tests that require knowledge of the details that are only in that book.
Education is available online for free. A college degree may require a very expensive pack of books.

In literally any other fandom they wouldnāt make NEARLY as much fem!protagonist aus as the do in bnha. And Iām 100% sure itās because Deku cries a lot and has a kind heart. By making him a girl they accentuate this traits making her a weak willed shoujo protagonist (the one that I hate the most) who is super passive and everyone saves.
You know what? Fuck this. Make Fem!Izuku a fucking badass. Make her bleed, make her fight, make her physically stronger than his male counter part. Make her have the kindest heart and still be a crybaby, but also make her take none of anyoneās shit. Make her not care about Katsuki, make her worried about Todoroki but not weak. Make her a STRONG female character. Make her break her bones, make her cry ugly, make her have snot, make her someone who is not cute when she cries.
We literally have tons of fucking shoujo mangas with this type of character dynamic. Make her be different. Make interesting, make her REAL.
And for the fucking love of god MAKE HER A LESBIAN TOO. Please donāt make her the only one who stays āgender benderedā make a female Todoroki, make a female Katsuki, make a male Ochako and a female Iida. Because Iām like 40% sure that half of the people who make her a girl just want to make Ships Straight and thereās already TONS of canon straight manga with this premise, and honestly is disgusting to have my fav character be reduced to a fucking trophy wife for a bunch of Ooc guys.
a thing i noticed during the fight with all might is deku seems to remember a situation where katsuki protected his friends- including deku- from older kids when they were younger, and kicked butt so efficiently deku was then convinced for years kacchan could never surrender and would win in the end. in fact deku has seen kacchan fight a lot, had to ta notice how kacchan starts a fight and his usual fight pattern, kacchan protected deku as much as he ragged on him
yknow i never thought about it that way but now that you mention it, i donāt think itās too much of a stretch to infer that. we donāt know the context but yeah, dekuās definitely seen bakugou fight enough times to know his patterns pretty well
iām also of the opinion that they did genuinely have a good relationship before things went to shit so this supports that idea
and iāve always loved that scene of them as kids bc it shows how, to deku, bakugou always has been and always will be inherently a hero. i think thatās part of the reason he doesnāt seem to hold any of the stuff that happened between them against him, bc he knows that heās a jerk but heās not a bad person.he has firsthand experience with how heroic bakugou can be
(look at that little blush)
Actually, and maybe I simply donāt recall, but it was never specified or shown that this flashback scene was of katsuki protecting deku, was it? I assumed a bunch of older kids tried to push him around and he refused to let them, and deku saw it all happen (*coughs* spying on ur ultra cool crush).
But I also think that it doesnāt really matter how you interpret it⦠either way, deku, from a young age, to have had that kind of expression while watching katsuki had to have seen katsuki as a heroic figureāeven if he hadnāt been actively playing the role of protector here. Saving may be the most important part of being a hero but⦠deku has experienced firsthand from a young age why the āwinningā part is so important to the image that comes with being a hero.
Saving is the occupational requirement. The basic definition. But winning is essential to being a hero, in the way that the word brings up feelings of awe and glory and, of course, victory. Itās not just about saving lives, itās about looking cool as you do it, so that the people youāre protecting will feel not only relieved, but inspired. Thatās what makes heroes cool. And thatās why I think kacchan has always been, in a way, dekuās heroā¦
it was never stated but i think a lot of their childhood is up to interpretation considering we only get little snapshots. he could have hid behind the tree when the kids started shit w/ bakugou since heās been shown to have a tendency to hang out w/ them at more of a distance or it could be that he was just spying. but like you said it doesnāt really matter, it just matters that in this moment bakugou was a hero to deku. (tho i do still like the idea of bakugou protecting deku even if just subconsciously and as a side-effect of standing his ground. and it would make deku trying to help bakugou at the river have one more layer of incomprehensibility to that moment for bakugou since in his mind it should always be the other way around. still, itās more of a headcanon than anything else)
but yes v. nice addition!!! bakugou is very much a figure of pure concentrated inspiration for deku
