If you were to give the lads a Pokemon, what would it be?
Currently, Warriors gets a Growlithe because I think it’d cope well in a military setting like the Warriors games allow. But what would everyone else get?
(Mind you, this is the initial Pokemon, and you can probably pick some silly answers I don’t mind.)
((Fi is an Aegislash that has been growing in strength for thousands of years. Because the horrifying concept of a sword unwillingly killing its wielder is tragic and beautiful.))
Well, well well. Look who finally arrived in the mail. Now to finish the current outstanding games so I can finish this one (never got past the master sword section)
Starting a new sketchbook and I really need to learn to use better paper. At least it’s not on a5 anymore? Anyway
Hylia’s redesign is sticking much better now.
FD is the ittiest bittiest of the Gods, even compared to most. So despite him being a head taller than most Hylians, he’s little when beside anyone else.
Poor Legend discovers in real time what the destruction to the mer suit means when you can still in fact transform. (Yes, his design as a mer is very similar to my original links au, I don’t care.)
Baby Legend probably doesn’t know how legitimate Piyo the first was when she declared she’d be a little in love with him for the rest of her days, but Din… Din knows. This bird’s serious.
Annnd current design for the Golden Three. They need to feel almost simple and youthful and somewhat one track minded. They are young gods that didn’t expect to need to become creation gods, and are constantly battling with the world eater, hence why modern Hyrule doesn’t remember them anymore.
Imagine waking up after creation - everyone else has a job and a name and a purpose. And then there’s you. Some left over parts from the act that didn’t make the cut for anything else, that clumped together and baked for a couple centuries and suddenly. You’re here. The Goddesses don’t know what to do with you. They don’t mind you, perhaps even think you’re a little funny, an interesting accidental friend that gets to do their own thing. They see nothing wrong with that.
Everyone else does. And it’s everyone else that’s the problem. And that’s… kind of how my comic version of baby FD starts out - a lost boy made of unwanted parts that somehow made it work into being a whole person, and a soul without a destiny gets caught up in someone else’s. I’ve enjoyed it.
(Am also very proud of how widdle and baby he looks here. Someone left their baby in the liminal echo parking lot send the paramedics.)
The crack AU develops - Piyo the second may be less than three inches tall, be she is three inches of pure menace. Pray for Warriors’ safety and strength.
Due to the fact that I've never done anything like this before, and I don't have enough followers to spoil it anyhow, I am desperate for some peer review.
Below, is my current script for the comic - mind you, will be heavily edited to fit the panels and comic pages - as it stands. And as I've never done a project this vast, and certainly not this ambitious, boy am I stumbling.
Spoilers below I guess? Unless you're a screen reader, and wouldn't mind either way
The Boy in the Depths
Once upon a time, there was a boy in the Depths.
He was lonely.
Once upon a time, in the Depths, a boy picked up a lantern, and lit it with blue souls. He decided to be a little less lonely.
Once upon a time, in the world beneath mortal feet, a boy – born a demon – led souls to freedom. He chose to be less lonely. And a lonely shadow goddess watched.
And – inevitably – took his hand, when he came for her.
A Place in the Sun
Once upon a time, a boy and a girl were alone in the dark. One, abandoned. The other, forgotten. Both had been lonely. In the heart of a storm, a God amongst Demons saw what he’d discarded for its worth. And let himself grow hateful with envy.
A boy and a girl – together in the dark.
A Demon King – alone on his throne, having tossed aside his bride for power.
The Demon King grew lonely.
The Demon King grew bitter.
The Demon King – great and powerful – allowed the ache to fester.
Once upon a time, a girl teaches a boy how to walk in the sun. And loves him as he wonders at the world above, and below. And gives herself to him – without question – and he gives himself in turn. She is happy, and it is because of him.
And so, the Demon King kills him. Takes her back, to his side. She is… alone, again.
The Sin
Once upon a time, there was a Sun Goddess – who watched over the young Cosmos, warding the Gods and their play. One day, she looked into the Depths, and witnessed a Sin. She could not allow the Demon King to get away with such… folly.
So she embarrasses him – defeats him, without question – and hands the mantle of Death, and War, and much, much more, to a boy from the Depths.
The Demon King’s jealousy grew – the Sun and the Moon, dancing above his head. Both powers he’d longed to possess, with one granted to a soul he saw as… lesser.
Thus, it begins.
The Demon King rages, and tears them both from the Heavens. A new Sun Goddess is ordained to replace the one before. And the moon lay abandoned.
Or… so the Demon King thought…
To Die Afraid
Once upon a time, in the lands of the Dead, a boy grew… angry, and… fearful.
He worried for her, and for the lands of the living. Worried at what would become of them, at the hands of the Demon King.
He claws himself back to the Mortal Realm – bloodied, yes, but unbeaten – guided by the waning light of the slain Sun Goddess, from her grave in the sands.
The Demon King thinks nothing of the first attempt, and sends him back to the abyss.
And then he comes back angrier.
And he comes back angrier.
And angrier. Again. And again.
And the Heavens watched.
Wrath
Once upon a time, there were two sisters – as different from the other as night from day. Night was young, and had loved to play, and Day thought her safe. She was wrong.
So the new Sun Goddess – the Elder Sister – came for her. She would fix her mistake. And for a time, the Heavens allowed it – but for all their love, she could not fight her sister’s fate. The Demon King came back for her, and Night became dark, and bleak. However – in the lands of the Dead, someone was angry, and afraid, and more with every Day and Night. And he is ever more angry, and ever more frightened, and ever more cunning.
And then. He wakes up, furious.
The March of Death
Once upon an age, something fierce stirred in the Lands of the Dead – something vengeful, something that burned with fury. Only this time, things were… different.
This time, he does not hunt the Demon King himself – but his armies… and this time, he fights to win. He lays waste to the Demon King’s hordes – souls bound to service, unprepared for the doom that befalls them. So it is, that when the Demon King finds him – deep in the heart of the Lands of Chaos – that the Demon King simply laughs. For how absurd, to come back once more, just to die. How foolish. How futile.
Frustrated, but amused at such audacity, the Demon King reaches for the power and might of his bound servants and finds… nothing. What the Demon King did not know, was that the boy from the depths was a boy no longer, but a man. And this man, the same that was once so easily felled, did no falter, or break. He strikes the Demon King down, tearing him from the Heavens, but…
He does not kill him.
The man knows better – how easy it is to claw back from death, and will not grant the Demon King sch a mercy.
(And this… oh this, the Demon King does not forget.)
Once upon a time, a boy – now a man – and a girl – now a woman – were together in the dark. Alone, and at peace, they are happy.
And they shall never be lonely again.
Now that I’ve figured out how colours work, I can do the rest of my Fierce Deity comic drafts!!!!
Annddd… I’ve discovered the problem with doing my roughs on copy paper. Can’t use layered colours on it… can barely even do the line work. And I’ve been doing my concept art on A5 paper like some kind of fool. Holy hell this is going to be a difficult process.
The wings on the necklace are the Fairy King’s actual wings btw. They aren’t like - corpse wings. He just stores his wings as jewellery to stop them getting damaged.
If you think he looks familiar, or similar to other characters - lies! Spoilers! Hissss!!!!
Couldn’t decide which Gods I wanted to make part of Hyrule’s creation, so have a look at a background god, Aratora, King of the Fairies. His name is subject to change, but for him and demise it’s on sight, so you have to wonder where he went when Demise started killing mortals…
The World according to Piyo the Second, who is entirely unbiased.
Mama is the best, obviously. Although Uncle Wimdy is pretty cool too. Silly Rainbows is a little weird, but everyone has to have a weird flock mate. The Puppy Man is actually rather nice even if he barks loud and smells funny. Big Cuddles is second best at cuddling, because Mama is of course the best. Mister Crumbs always has special treats for her. Brother Rue is a bit old for the coddling Mama gives, but Piyo doesn’t care, he’s probably just big boned. Tin Man is a strange guy, but ultimately still flock. The world would be perfect - except for Him, Mama why is he here can I-
