Stranger Things Masterlist - Next Part (Eddie POV)
"C'mon, all of you! Up, up!" Steve shouted as he pushed Dustin and Robin towards the makeshift rope to climb up to the gate, Eddie and you were standing behind them. He is just a few steps away from you, confused and afraid of going back to a world where he is accused of homicide. Yet, neither he does want to remain in this other⊠Dark dimension? He doesnât understand it wholly, but he wants to get out of here as fast as he can. He knows you are scared too, he wants to reach out for your hand but he is afraid of the others' reaction.
Nancy was looking around, like she is expecting something to come out of the nowhere to attack Steve, again. "I have a bad feeling about this." She said before to approach to Steve and exchange a few words with him, Harrington glares worried between the gate and the door of Eddie's trailer.
Dustin and Robin passed through the gate, Max's voice comes from the other side as she asks them what happened in the Upside Down. Nancy and Steve pointed out of the two of you, specially to Eddie who seemed to be lost thinking about something but quickly hurries up towards the rope. He paused for a second, glaring to you over his shoulders. "(Y/N), you should go first."
Both of you has been great friends for years, and secret boyfriends for a while (two years for being exact). It was only natural for him to worry over you when all of them had just ran away from trouble.
You just chuckled, before to point out towards Nancy. "Ladies first." True to be told, you were the athletic type. And Steve is Steve fucking Harrington, he won't let Nancy going last (Neither you will, what if something happens to Nancy?)
Steve and you could climb the rope in less than a minute, and everyone knows it. It was only logical to be the latest.
Yet Eddie seemed to hesitate it before to finally start climbing. Once he was at the other side, Nancy followed him with a little of help from Steve. When she was reaching the gate, Eddie and Robin helped her to get safely in their world.
Steve Harrington looked back at you and motioned with his head towards the rope. "See you in the other side." Something about it feels off, but you returned the gesture telling him: "See ya."
When you started to climb, Max and Dustin's faces came into your view from the other side of the gate. Both telling how slow you were, but you were doing pretty good. Until you started to notice that the gate hole was every time further away, and their voices sounded so distant. You blinked and the next thing you knew was that you were falling deep into the darkness of the Upside Down.
You groaned in pain when your back hit the floor, you could no longer hear your friendsâ voices. You opened your eyes and noticed almost immediately that you werenât with them anymore, you were standing in your fatherâs house. Rather said, a further creepy version of it.
Your father died when you were around twelve years old. But before that, everything was a nightmare. He was an abuser, an alcoholic who did nothing but get into arguments with your mother, blaming her for everything and nothing and seeking excuses to hit her or you. You used to run away from home and play around the woods, until it was too dark, and you had no further excuses to be away from him. Around that time, you met Eddie, the shy kid that used to play out of his uncleâs trailer.
Right now, you were standing in your fatherâs home with zero clues about what was going on. Everything was dark, despite of having every single lamp on. There was a noise coming from the living room, you walked into the place and noticed that the TV was turned on, but it was placed in a channel that doesnât have any transmission, just static.
Over the dinner table were lots of empty beer cans, a burned-out cigarette and wasted food. There were a lot of cockroaches, flies alike. Enjoying the wasted dinner at the table.
There was a noise, an old clock, echoing from somewhere upstairs. But you were more than sure that your father hates those to the bones and had never wanted one inside of the house. Every time the clock sounds, it gets louder, and the lights goes on and off madly.
You looked around, expecting something like more of those horrible bats from before or even that thing Dustin had called a Demogorgon, but all you have found out was your father on the sofa with a bottle of whisky in his hand and the control remoter in the other. â(Y/N)! Move of the way! Iâm watching the game!â The TV stills transmitting nothing but static, but this version of your father seemed infuriated by your presence. You wanted to move, but something like vines were climbing your limps and leaving you unable to move. â(Your motherâs name), your fucking son doesnât move!! Iâm watching the game!â
It was like having ten years old again, being far to terrified of that man to speak back to him. You tried to remember to yourself that your father had died years ago in a car crash, and this wasnât real at all. But it feels like it.
Your mother came from the kitchen, pale and tired. There is some anxiety in her voice as she calls you, motioning you to come and get out of your fatherâs way. Yet, the vines has you rotted there and no matter how much you want to move its like you cannot even breath.
Your father started to shout out of you before to throw the empty glass bottle towards you, the vines retracted enough, and you ran away from him. The clock is sounding again, somewhere. But you were almost reaching the front door to open it.
Yet, when you opened it you were once again in the living room.
Your mother was crying in a corner, while your father yells at her for something. The clock is being too noisy, and you are surprised to being the only one able to hear it.
Your father said something to you before to shook you by your shoulder. âI didnât go to a fucking war and returned to have this excuse of a son!â That was a lie, he had never been in a war. You knew it years later, he ran away before to be sent to Vietnam. He was a coward, but he pretended that he was a war hero and stuff. âLook at you! Wearing your motherâs makeup!â
Oh, that actually happened. You stole your motherâs makeup and left Eddie to use it on your face, trying to mimic some rock-startâs make up without having any strong reference to use. Not even a poster or the cover of a cassette, Eddie tried to do it everything from memory mixing David Bowieâs style with⊠You couldnât remember exactly, but it was messy and even if you tried to wipe your face some eyeshadow and colour remained there, and your father saw it. âAre you gay? Only a fucking gay shit will use make up. A shit like you and a whore like your mother will use that thing.â He tried to hit you but you managed to run from it. âYou, son of a bitch!! Come back here before I get you!â
You ran around the living room, the clock âs sound is echoing in your mind as you rushed towards the backdoor. Someone is coming down the stairs, heavy steps echoing through the house with your fatherâs yelling. The backdoor is open, but its blocked by wooden boards. You tried to break one, but the wood doesnât budge with your force. You muttered a short curse under your breath before to try harder, the wood starts to crack a little, but you became even more desperate as a second voice joined your fatherâs yelling. âWhere are you going (Y/N)?â Itâs a voice you have never heard in your life, deep and demonic. It sends shivers down your spine. âWe are going to have a nice talk between each other.â
âThe hell no.â You muttered as you managed to remove some of the wooden broads. The clock is louder than ever, almost like it is right behind you and breathing in your ear. Whatever that has been speaking before, has something to do with it. You passed through the little space you just created between the boards, but something grabbed your leg when you were almost out. A bloodied hand, that belonged to your father was trying to drag you back into the house. A second pair of hands joined him, your mother calling out to you to save her.
It was horrible, both of their faces were disfigured, and their fingers digs into your leg like claws. âDonât touch me!!â You looked at your back, searching for something to hold onto and kick them away. Yet, all you saw was a clock. An old wooden clock in the middle of the backyard.
âYou have nowhere to go, Iâm everywhere.â There was again that voice, coming from the other side of the door. The wooden broads fell apart, and a horrible creature stood in front of you. Your parents tried to pull you by your legs back into the house but fought them back. âGET AWAY FROM ME!!â
That thing, Vecna or something like that the children had called it to be, extended his hand towards your face and placed it over your head. His fingers pressed at the side of your temples and tons of images flowed into your brain, images from a future Hawkins falling into the Upside Downâs world. A future was everyone was either dead or possessed, with rotten corpses being eaten in the middle of the streets.
âHawkins.â Vecna said, his voice is so creepy that doesnât help with the images in your head. âI will sink Hawkins into this world and take my revenge. There is only one gate left to do, and everything will fall.â
Somewhere in the distance, a bell echoed.
Vecna growled frustrated, he retracted his hand, but the image of Eddieâs bleeding corpse was already burned in your mind. His bones broken, those bats eating his organs. âNo, no, no.â You wanted to get it out of your head, but it was all you could think about.
The bell echoed again, and then another, and another. Until the intro of a song you knew far to well echoed from the woods, Hells Bells from AC/DC, one of your favouriteâs songs ever. Confused you glared over your shoulder, towards the woods.
You could hear Steve and Eddie calling you out desperately, as the song gets louder. â(Y/N), wake up! This isnât funny! I donât like this!â
You knew that was Eddieâs voice, you wanted to reach out and call him back. âEddie!!â You managed to get away from those monster that looked like your parents and rushed towards the noise of their voices, shouting out for them. âEddie!! Steve!! Guys!!â Your lungs burned in exhaustion, but you keep running. âEddie!!â
You woke up from the trance you were, disorientated at first.
Your breathing was laboured, like you have just run a marathon or short of. Steve was next to you, his hand over his shoulders as tried to check you out. But his mother-henâs attitude wasnât as important to you that Eddieâs presence in front of you. He had jumped back into the Upside Down world when you became unresponsible to Steve, he was cupping your face in his hands. In silence, all you could heard was Hells Bells being played in Nancyâs Walkman through the headphones in your ears. â(Y/N)?â
You sobbed, the image of his corpse being eaten is fresh in your mind. âEddie.â You donât have any words to said, but its okey because he doesnât need them. He just pulled you in his arms and muttered sweet words into your ear. âIts okey Sunshine, Iâm here. You are here, youâre safe.â
The other may not, not officially at last, know about your relationship. But none of them said anything as you pulled back from his embrace to kiss him, surprising Eddie. âWow. Babe, are you alright?â
You just shook your head. âNo, Iâm not. Letâs get out of here.â
