masters must learn the rules before they can break them. narcissa learned the rules so well that they wrapped around her; sank into her skin and her mind. they protect her from enemies. they conceal the quick, strategic plots ticking her brain into gear every moment of every day. they hide the calculation of each smile, each movement.

don’t ever let anyone make you feel ashamed for not going down a conventional path (e.g. not finishing college or starting college later in life, doing an internship in your late 20s, not having a "career” by a certain age). all of this is arbitrary. do not create a life that aims to satisfy everyone but yourself. you worked hard as fuck to get to where you are. don’t you dare let others including yourself diminish those efforts. you do not deserve that. especially if you did it all while battling mental illness.

You know what? I understand why Snape was so mad and cranky all the time. It was because his potions room sucked!! I mean that place was dusty as hell and looked like it was gonna fall to the ground at all any second. Meanwhile the DATDA room was shiny, had high ceilings, huge windows, a chandelier, and a staircase to the teachers own goddamn office!! I mean, no wonder Snape wanted to teach DATDA! He was tired of being stuck in a dungeon!
