Why would anyone ship themselves with a fictional character without any malicious intent??
They could find comfort in that character, it could remind them of someone they love, they just like the character.
It’s slimy behavior and even if the selfshipper doesn’t say they’re a proship, it doesn’t change the fact that selfshipping is not normal and very strange and a sign that the person is probably not safe to be around.
because it wouldn't and doesn't make sense for a selfshipper to be a proshipper. Proshippers believe fiction doesn't affect reality. selfshipping kind of just ignores their whole arguement.
"selfshipping is not normal"
ocxcanon, canonxreader, so many things. and It shouldn't matter if selfshipping is normal or not. their are way worse things.
"very strange and a sign that the person is probably not safe to be around."
i know a selfshipper irl, she is one of the most sweetest people to exist and has helped me a lot. so I don't really think she's dangerous.
It’s in the same boat as being a fujoshi/fetishizing mlm
not really. fujoshis are reading a story, selfshippers ship themselves with the character.
Take one look at what selfshippers say about their “fictional others” and tell me it isn’t creepy.
okay, I did. all of it was just them being cute about their F/Os. so its not creepy.
please look into the selfshipping community because it IS problematic, you can’t claim to be an antishipper while ignoring problematic things that happen in similar spaces.
problematic things as in not the whole entire selfship community. The selfshipping community is not problematic as a whole, from what i've seen no one has ignored anything problematic happening in the self ship community.
I understand you might think selfshipping is just having a fictional crush, but it’s a HUGE pipeline to proshipping.
hm, wheres that source of yours? nowhere, because its not true? hm. fascinating.
Having a fictional crush is fine but selfshipping is not ok at all and it shouldn’t be normalized especially to minors.
selfshipping/yumeshipping is not solely thinking of yourself having a romantic relationship with a character.
to some, I'd be considered a self/yumeshipper because I ship my OCS x Canon characters.
This isn’t "bait" I have had first hand experiences with selfshippers and they have all turned out to be proshippers, or disgusting people.
I'm sorry about that, but that doesn't mean selfshipping as a whole is problematic. the people you interacted with became problematic.
It’s gross how you’ve fallen for the normalization of selfshipping despite running an antiship blog. I thought we fought against this
guilt tripping. this is literally just guilt tripping.
