Essential worker during covid
It is imperative that the customer remain unaware that employees drink water, it frightens and scares them to think of an employee as having human needs
where is any higher quality version of this image
can't find anything other than this which has maybe 5 extra pixels
now dance fucker dance man he never had a chance
Is it socially acceptable to use opaque watercolors, or is that considered gouache?
the thing about art is that sometimes you'll be moved to tears by stuff that is not very good
i would kill for the confidence of novelists who write genius-poet characters and then actually write samples of the “genius” poetry in the book. if i were a novelist writing a genius-poet i’d just be like “trust me, the poetry’s real good.”
“Perhaps you have forgotten. That’s one of the great problems of our modern world, you know. Forgetting. The victim never forgets. Ask an Irishman what the English did to him in 1920 and he’ll tell you the day of the month and the time and the name of every man they killed. Ask an Iranian what the English did to him in 1953 and he’ll tell you. His child will tell you. His grandchild will tell you. And when he has one, his great-grandchild will tell you too. But ask an Englishman—” He flung up his hands in mock ignorance. “If he ever knew, he has forgotten. ‘Move on!’ you tell us. ‘Move on! Forget what we’ve done to you. Tomorrow’s another day!’ But it isn’t, Mr. Brue.” He still had Brue’s hand. “Tomorrow was created yesterday, you see. That is the point I was making to you. And by the day before yesterday, too. To ignore history is to ignore the wolf at the door.”
- A Most Wanted Man, John le Carré

Beetles are the leading innovators of new and exciting ways to have a weird head
the other night I dreamt that ao3 got a new number go up button titled "jorked it"
I love you ao3, I love you dead dove, I love you dark and fucked up ships, I love you weird and unusual kinks, I love you porn without plot, I love you unapologetic violent fiction, I love you horror, I love you splatterpunk, I love you unreliable narrators, I love you morally gray characters, I love you characters with no morals whatsoever, I love you authors that write whatever you want, I love you authors who don't stop others from writing whatever they want, I love you readers with critical thinking skills, I love you media literacy
there's a group of high school boys in this McDonald's and I just heard one of them say "I bet you you cannae break your own arm" so something interesting might happen shortly
there's this weird thing people fall into online a lot, where people assume that if the [perceived-to-be-inferior] version of [activity] is discouraged then people will, naturally, do [perceived-to-be-superior] version of [activity] instead. When really it's just as (or more) likely that if [perceived-to-be-inferior] version of [activity] is discouraged people just won't do it at all.
audiobook listeners are not necessarily people who would otherwise do a lot of traditional reading if audiobooks did not exist, many are people who simply would experience zero books. Booktok romance readers would not necessarily be reading the classics if booktok did not exist, many of them would simply not read. Fanfiction writers would not necessarily be novelists if fanfic wasn't an option, many would just be people who didn't write. You know?
Fully agree. Like, these forms of media and genres exist because they were the things people wanted to read and write and do. If they did not exist, people would either not do the thing or invent the thing.
''what if you regret it'' then you will expirience regret - a normal and unavoidable part of the human expirience.
the more you twist yourself into a pretzel to avoid regret the harder it will hit when it eventually catches up to you.
like to be clear i enjoy many things that are bad. but if they were bad and big, that would be a problem. a bad show/film/book is inoffensive to me. a bad show/film/book that is being given endless accolades makes me feel like there's women in my yellow wallpaper
