tbh my hot take is that reality tv is always best when it features fundamentally flawed people who have worked for a living and don't fully understand what they're signing up for. see early vpr or below deck. housewives is fun but its also at its best in the earlier seasons when they're all just real estate agents with $300 haircuts. maybe this is because im more willing to forgive you smoking ten cigarettes and calling your dearest friends cunts if you've also had to smile at a customer during the worst day of your life, like thats deserved. gamified reality tv also kinda inherently bad because the participants are there with very specific goals and its all so stupid. but again i will forgive this more on the mafs types where they're still normal-ish people who go to work and live in small apartments and hate their parents. if you regularly pay someone else to do your makeup you shouldn't be admitted.
