It has been 15 years since SCP Foundation introduced Agent Diogenes. Gender: Nonbinary. Pronouns: Anything. When asked what they specifically identify as or if they're a guy or a gal, they shrug. Cursed to continually encounter magical objects that change their body in unexpected ways, so there is no "oh but their body-". AGAB never confirmed or stated.
Fandom continues to treat them like a woman, not just in the sense of giving them a vagina and boobs, but also in acting like they're AFAB (because all nonbinary people are, of course! /s) and calling them she/her or at best she/they. It's been 15 years. Someone born the year Agent Diogenes was introduced will be able to drive next year. And we're still doing this.
I'm so tired. Never once in those 15 years has the character's stance on their gender or the author's stance on it changed. There were no retcons. They have never been stated to have expressed being okay with she/her or anything other than they/them. There's no "oh in one continuity they were a she" or "but this one time-"
(No shade meant towards she/they people. I'm 100% in agreement your pronouns should be respected. But if someone says their only pronouns are they/them, then their pronouns are not she/they. Their pronouns are they/them.)
