Scanlan vs. Nott
consider: teenagers aren’t apathetic about everything they’re just used to you shitting all over whatever they show excitement about
Teen: *gets a job*
“I GOT THE JOB!”
Parents: Well, when I was your age, I already had 5 jobs and was supporting my family
Teen: *gets all A’s*
“I worked really hard!”
Parents: Well, of course you did, this is the expectation, not a celebration.
probably why so many teens take to social media where they can enthusiastically share their interests and achievements and get positive feedback that their parents never gave
A LITTLE LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
This hit hard
I remember once, when I was in my early 20s, I was an afternoon supervisor at my job, and I worked with mostly teenagers, and the one day this one kid, who was like 15, was bored so I suggested he could clean out the fridge. He did and when he was done I said he did a good job.
After that, this kid was cleaning out the fridge at least once a week, and I was like, “why are you always cleaning the fridge?” Like, I didn’t mind, but it seemed odd. And he said, “one time I cleaned the fridge and you said I did a good job. I wanted to make you proud of me again.”
Literally, I changed the entire way I interacted with teenagers after that. I actually got a package of glitter stars and I would stick them on their nametags when they did a good job, and they loved it.
My manager had commented on how hard these kids work and I said, “they’re starved for positive feedback. They go to school all day then come to work all evening and no one appreciates it because it’s expected of them, but they’re still kids. They need positive feedback from adults in their lives.”
Like, everyone likes feeling appreciated. Everyone likes being complimented and having their efforts be noticed. Another coworker (who was a mother of teenage children), hated that I did this, and said they were too old to be rewarded with stickers, but like… it wasn’t about the stickers. The stickers were just a symbol that their effort was noticed and appreciated. I was just lucky that I learned this at a time when I was still young enough to remember what it was like to be a teenager. I was only 2 years out of highschool at that point and highschool is fucking hard. People forget this as they get older, but ask anyone and almost no one would ever want to go back and do it again, but they expect kids to suck it up because they’re young so they should be able to do school full time, plus homework, and work, and maintain a healthy social life, and sleep, and spend time with family, and do chores and help out at home, and worry about college and relationships and everything else, and then just get shit on all the time and treated like they’re lazy and entitled. And then they wonder why teenagers are apathetic.
For a german exam I had to argue against an article that was essentially „kids these days, they don’t care about anything and are constantly on their phones“ and really it was the easiest essay I‘ve ever written.
Teens don’t talk to adults bc adults only ask „so, how‘s school“ to then interrupt them two sentences in. And because they can’t engage in a conversation about buying houses and working in a bank. I would’ve loved to talk about philosophy and politics and history with family the way I did with friends and in class but because I was young no one took what I had to say seriously.
And no, teens aren’t always on their phone. They’re on their phone when they’re bored. You think I‘m on social media when I‘m with my friends? When I‘m talking about something I‘m interested in?
Maybe the reason kids are so distant and always on their phone during family parties and the like is because you‘re failing to engage and include them.
Whoop there it is
When you respect kids, they really respond and learn from you. But if you treat kids like “theyre just a kid, what do they know??” then you’ll never find out.
go away, i can handle it.
i watched. i saw. i did it. Hercules AU (edit: screw it, im tired)
There’s a lot of Scooby Doo stuff on Netflix
A follow up in my sketchbook
This is unironically one of the better written, in-character, funny pieces of Scooby-Doo media in the past decade

Reasons why Cadwulf is actually a very valid ship:
They both have a strong sense of faith and destiny
The Clays historically worshipped the Raven Queen, who Eadwulf obviously has a strong connection to, and Cad still respects and reveres her
Wulf focused on Cad more than any other member of the Nein during dinner, even Caleb
Both times Wulf and Caleb have interacted, he said Caleb "looks good" -> he gay
Caduceus canonically loves muscle boys
Both have an appreciation for good food (Wulf did not once stop eating no matter how stressful or awkward the conversation got)
They both are always the odd man out, the respective 3rd and 7th wheels, so to be each other's first choice would be so meaningful
Cad is a big picture, dreamer kind of guy, whereas with Wulf's intelligence he can focus on the details so they balance each other out
The banter
Wulf is actually physically enchanted with the very material that was needed to save Caduceus's home
"I like you." "Thank you, I like you too."
Listen ok I know I'm setting myself up for disappointment but I'm telling you their destinies are intertwined and they would be so good for each other and I'm going to go down with this ship and there's nothing you can do to stop me
Kiri: Hoooo boy hope this doesn’t awaken anything in- *NUTS IMMEDIATELY*
I know Jester’s apology to Astrid was born of Jester feeling guilty about being rude. But like from Astrid’s perspective how much of that dinner and short walk translated to ‘This could be a soft place for you to land’.
Like, this weird group of people who either have no self-preservation or are more powerful than they appear stared an archmage in the face, told him they were willing to strangle him to death and that he was a fool, in his own home, just apologized to her for being slightly rude. Told her she couldn’t be all bad if Caleb (Bren) cared for her, and offered to kidnap her away from her abuser. Just how long has it been since someone offered her even the smallest kindness without expectation of repayment or reprisal?
sitting here in the cadwulf clown corner i just want to throw a small list of things out there that i would love to see:
eodwulf witnessing caduceus in a fight
caduceus healing eodwulf, maybe after he returns all beaten up after a super dangerous under cover evil empire mission and feels like he doesn’t deserve cad’s kindness
eodwulf seeing caduceus get angry
the m9 fighting trent and i have this self indulgent vision of astrid and eodwulf not being entirely sure that they want to oppose trent bc they’re scared of him, so they start out on his side halfheartedly and then trent specifically targets caduceus because he is the party’s main healer and that is the point at which eodwulf decides “fuck this” and there is this typical anime betrayal moment where he casts his spell shooting trent in the face instead of one of the others and trent turns into the pikachu meme bc love does in fact trump pain, suck it trent
eodwulf carrying caduceus
eodwulf casting healing hands on caduceus
eodwulf specifically shielding caduceus with his buff ass paladin body bc i am nothing but a self indulgent gay disaster
flower crowns
Dinner party! Everyone disliked that. [ id: illustration of the dinner scene from critical role episode 110, camera view over the shoulder of Trent Ikithon. You can see his wrinkly old hands and shoulder in green mantle. Mighty Nein, Astrid and Eodwulf are sitting around the table with lit candles. M9 looks at him with various expressions of disgust, Astrid’s expression is covered by her fringe, and Eodwulf is drinking water. end id ]
TODAYS THE DAY
Me leaving the theatre December 17 2015: Wow! I can’t wait for Finn to become a Jedi and lead a storm trooper revolution, and Rey to be a skywalker/Kenobi, and Poe to be a main character with development and lead with Leia, and Luke helping his sister lead the new rebellion and train Finn and Rey. And Hux and Kylo and Phasma are gonna be an evil trio! So much cool stuff is gonna happen!
Get yourself one of those drow boyfriends
I’ve been watching Good Omens for ’ll of about ten minutes and I have to say, I do like the poetry between hell’s most angelic demon and heaven’s most demonic angel coexisting
Through watching the rest of the show I went from “worst demon and worst angel- a demon that is too kind and an angel that is too hedonistic”, to “best demon and best angel- a demon so rebellious he can’t even cooperate with the rebellion and an angel so angelic he was ordered to love humanity and now refuses to stop”, and having finished, now, I’ve found myself resting on “two beings who are in fact very very human and love each other very much”
