Been reading the book Belly of the Beast: The Politics of Anti-Fatness as Anti-Blackness, by Da'Shaun L. Harrison. It doesn't quite feel accurate to say I'm having "fun" reading it, because the subject matter is so serious and emotionally loaded, but it's VERY good. I'm about to start the chapter about gender and I'm really looking forward to it. Really glad I found it at the library.
Highly recommend it for anyone interested in learning more about the intersection of fat liberation and Black liberation. Thus far, I particularly like the author's criticisms of the body positivity movement, as well as their explanation about the shift of European beauty standards from viewing fatness as desirable to thinness as desirable. There was a lot of history and anti-Black context about it that I'd never learned about before. I also like what they have to say on the American War on Drugs and the concept of health as an axis of oppression.
Hi, I'm Jack (he/him), a chronically poor trans hooker trying to keep his head abov… Jack Parker needs your support for Help a Trans Sex W
This fundraiser would allow me to take a few weeks break from this intense work schedule, pay off what I owe to friends, and to manage a slightly lower work load for the month after until I can begin selling sex regularly again to increase my income once my baby becomes eligible for 2 days a week of government funded childcare. Without this I cannot make next month's rent or bills.
I hate having to share so much person information to be considered worthy of support, but at the same time I know people are wary of being scammed and would rather not donate to people with other options besides fundraising. You can read the full details of my current situation at the GoFundMe link.
Please do not feel obligated to support if you cannot afford it and prioritize yourself first. I hugely appreciate any help and assure you that I will continue to pay it forward to the best of my capability in my work and with my own finances once things improve.
As with any time people have offered me financial help like this, I am extremely grateful. Funds raised so far are enough that I'm no longer in imminent danger of not being able to pay rent, which is the most vital part, and anything past this contributes to me being able to take a short break before I power through and can start selling sex as my main income again.
imagine dating someone and it works out and you two are together for the rest of your lives.
nobody talks about how exhausting it is to live in that space between "things will get better" and "i can't handle this anymore." it's like your emotions are constantly swinging. leaving you both hopeful and defeated in the same day.
i’m gonna need everyone to stop being negative about themselves all the time whether it’s a joke or not. i promise you it’s not helping you cope it’s making you feel worse
The Magnus institute supports the sexual harassment of its employees (100% real, not click bate)
(Harassment? Yea her ass ment everything to me.)
The video turns on with a shake, and tim holds still for a moment before speaking.
"Sashaaaaa! The one day you call in sick, guess who comes by to give a statement? Melanie King! From Ghost Hunt UK! Hope bossman doesn't piss her off too much so I can get you her autograph, ha!"
The camera flips around to face a door as it opens and two people walk out, a woman with outgrown dyed blue hair and a grumpy looking man with glasses. The tail end of their conversation can be heard.
"Would you like me or one of my assistants to walk you out, miss King?" The man offers
"No, i- mmm... Ok, so my friend, Georgie made me promise to do something."
"...you friend... What is it?"
"...I'm so sorry. No I'm not, actually."
The man takes a step back. The woman presses her lips in a thin line, as if she were about to start laughing or crying.
"...is your friend by chance Georgie Barker?"
"I think you know."
"I... If you are going to do what I think you are going to do, I will get you banned from the institute. Permanently."
"That's ok with me."
The man backs up again, the woman following him unsympatheticly. She winds her arm back and smacks Jon in the ass so hard he stumbles forward a few steps. Tim laughs, someone off screen gasps. Jon gawks at her, sputtering as he tries to find the right words to scream at her.
Tims laughter cuts off as he whips the camera around to face the stairs where a man in a nice suit is walking down into the archives. Elias looks around a moment before a questioning look takes over his face.
"I was coming down to speak with Jon for a moment, but," Elias takes a moment to compose himself. "I think I am interrupting something?"
Jon immediately points an accusing finger at Melanie.
"I need her banned from the institute. Immediately."
"What for?"
"She slapped my ass."
Elias looks taken back as Melanie starts cackling. He looks Jon up and down.
"...she can't slap something that doesn't exist, jon."
"Excuse me?!" Jon looks horribly offended as the camera comes back around to him.
"Jon, you don't have an ass. You're flatter than me, and I wear dress pants. Dress pants that can make anyone look ass-less." He steps forward. "I've seen more ass on a paper towel. Your lack of an ass should really be one of the paranormal mysteries this institute studies. Your backside is nearly concave, that's how flat it is." He sets a hand on Jon's shoulder. Jon looks betrayed somehow. "Im sorry, but you don't have an ass to even pat, let alone slap."
"That's true, it felt like smacking a fucking wall."
"I don't know how it's possible to be so ass-less. How did you lose it, because this cannot be your natural, god-given ass. Did you lose it? Give it away? Sell it? Did you get mugged? There's surgeries, you know. They can fix you.”
Jon turned around and walked into his office. He started packing up his belongings.
