God can always be found in the Good, the True, and the Beautiful! Which is why I went to see a charity drag show the other night <3
The Good: The charity of course; but also the way these queens brought humans together! Cheering, stomping, clapping to the music, losing our minds as they pulled off impressive physical feats! There was an energy in the air that felt exactly like worship on a Sunday morning. We were all there to celebrate, and the crowd was like one body.
The True: Drag is a vehicle through which many people get to express their authentic selves, as God made them! The drag queens unashamedly flaunting the most outrageous parts of themselves gives everyone else in the room permission to dress up, get loud, be a room full of (respectful) weirdos.
The Beautiful: I mean...have you seen a drag queen? The Power. The Talent. The Style. Any of those ladies has permission to kill me.
I may have gotten a bit too excited telling my Dad about the drag show in a quiet restaurant; think I accidentally scared off the Christian family celebrating Father's Day in the booth next to us
When the world tells you your love is a sin, to be loved is the Holy made real.
Every day I wake up and pray that someone will discover that Diana Wynne Jones, author the original Howl's Moving Castle book that inspired the beloved Ghibli movie, also wrote another universe that is in desperate need of an animated film adaptation:
Have you ever asked yourself what it would look like of a magic system was overseen by one dimension-hopping, wildly flamboyant, British man with nine lives?
What if this incredibly powerful magic user and his incredibly ordinary wife decided to adopt two children who's parents died in a steamboat accident (who immediately start arguing with his other two children and nearly destroying the magical world)?
What if this man's defining trait was his affinity for luxuriously embroidered silk bathrobes?
What if there was a fiddle that was turned into a cat?
That's the plot of the first book of the Chrestomanci series, one of my all-time favorites that is horrifically underappreciated. It has all of the charm of Diana Wynne Jones' other work, and is just fabulously absurd. I'd suggest giving the Wikipedia article a read (or just read the book!)

And now for some cow-based science
Ben Seleb, then at the Georgia Institute of Technology, had seen clusters of these steps on a trip through the Swiss countryside. Now a postdoctoral engineer at Rockefeller University in New York, he suspected the humble cow deserved more credit. âThere has been increasing research in animals creating neat patterns in nature, from honeycombs to spider webs. It makes sense to me that cows can do it too,â Seleb said. âSo I took it upon myself to defend the cowsâ agency.â

We snuck over to see our kids at camp on their birthday. We get to bring them home on Sunday.

Lorde is the bottom of the pecking order but sheâs discovered she can dominate the babies and thus if theyâre all sleeping in a circle she stands in the center and sheâll often headbutt them. The baby queen

Pink
Checked the hay field over the weekend. The fields Neighor J cut two weeks ago are growing back well! That doesn't always happen; I'm delighted to see it.
The next field over doesn't get cut for hay, but years ago my father planted a block of it in a wildflower mix. Most of the flowers weren't tough enough to survive longterm, but the pink beebalm is thriving.
There are so many bees in here that it sounds like an airport.
A bit of echinacea comes back year after year, as well. Unrestrained summer flowers.
