⊠What absolute drug have you been smoking?
âWhite nerd boysâ like, way to just erase the identity of a huge chunk of people just to claim that they are bullies and homophobic.Â
1. Many âwhite nerd boysâ are or have been poor, mentally ill, and neurodivergent. Way to go about acting like they donât exist because âwhite nerd boysâ
2. There are âwhite nerd boysâ who are autistic and have special interests and have stood up for others who come from specialized education.Â
3. You got your âwhite nerd boysâ who are ace, gay, not ready to date/have sex yet and who arenât homophobic, sex-crazed basement dwelling sweatpits.Â
4. White nerd boys who are fat⊠have lots of acne⊠and who arenât racistâŠ
5. White nerd boys who are gay, trans, and express their gender identity differently.Â
Do you just get your idea of âWhite nerd boysâ from whatever the writer of Law and Order said? Have you ever actually interacted with any level of ânerdâ culture beyond what you have to write for Tumblr posts and to seem like youâre oppressed and treated badly when you go around generalizing and treating people like crap?
Many âwhite nerd boysâ fall into the categories that you say they donât defend or stand up for. Sure you have your racist, homophobic, misogynistic people that exist as those people exist in any combination within any community. However, in your attempt to âbreak downâ nerdy characteristics that a child may have been bullied for, you come off as homophobic yourself because your post blatantly erases white nerd boys who are: gay, trans, gender NC, who have body issues, mentally ill, autistic, fat, poor, neurodivergent, etc. You lumped in those ânerdy white boysâ with all of the ânerdy white boysâ that you donât like. Itâs quite easy to spin this type of narrative that is basically a shallow attempt at nuance and criticizing a culture that you say is wrong when you treat them as a mass collective for you to step on and then get mad when they donât like it⊠while acting like gay, trans, fat, minority, etc. nerds donât behave or engage in asshole actions like body-shaming, racism, misogyny, etc.Â
From the perspective of a black, bisexual woman your post just makes you look like one of those âwhite nerd boysâ that you criticize, except you use minorities as a way of trying to look and sound nuanced while also dismissing minorities who fall into the category of âwhite nerd boysâ that you donât like.
Bonus: Iâve heard âgayâ being used in reference to something that someone doesnât like by many black people who arenât part of ânerd cultureâ. That was hardly a âwhite nerd thingâ
