Intro post!

My name’s Spid, my pronouns are they/it, fine with pretty much any gendered language outside that. I’m from the U.S. and am fluent only in English, but am more or less able to read in Spanish and Portuguese and can understand them spoken pretty decently, though it’s still pretty subject to the accent of the speaker (Northern Mexican and Paulista accents being my strongest). I’ve been brainrotting about MCRP for over four years now.

My main interests are QSMP and DSMP right now, I'm fluent in only English though my understanding of Spanish and Portuguese do allow me to understand most of the dialogue on the QSMP. My French is much worse but I’m steadily learning. I’m a bit of a lorehead so I watch as many POVs as I can as well as keeping up other ways. I am slowly rewatching the QSMP through these POVs:

ENG: Bad and Ironmouse

ESP: Roier and Maxo

PT: Cellbit and Bagi

FR: Baghera (It takes a lot more brain power since I’m actively trying to learn French while watching, so right now I only have one POV. I really want to add either Etoiles or Antoine once I have a better grasp of the basics though)

The characters I probably think the most about in no particular order are: q!Baghera, q!Cellbit, q!Roier, q!Quackity, and Pomme. (I wanted the list to be short but I don’t want to leave without mentioning my other favorites Richas, Ramón, q!Mouse, q!Tina, q!Etoiles, q!Antoine, q!Bad, q!Foolish, Pepito, Tilín, q!Mariana, q!Forever, and Elena to give you a better sense of my tastes and where I line up as a QSMP fan since my coverage of the server is much more lacking than for DSMP)

As for DSMP I started seriously watching October 2020 and followed it through to the end. Currently slowly rewatching it in order with the Dream SMP VOD archive (Every POV). I have a playlist of 400 fansongs I’ve collected in that time as well as playlists splitting them up by character which you can ask for a link to.

The characters include: Sam(6), Bad(10), Ranboo(33), Puffy(5), Dream(37), Eret(11), Fundy(7), George(12), Karl(15), Ghostbur(20), Niki(18), Techno(30), Quackity(23), Schlatt(8), Sapnap(11), Phil(17), Tommy(53), Foolish(5), Tubbo(38), and Wilbur(55). There are also characters with only a couple songs which all go in the same playlist, characters in this playlist include: Jack(3), Friend(2), Charlie(2), Purpled(2), Ponk(1), DreamXD(1), Sam Nook(1), Hannah(2), Connor(2), Punz(1 though it's a duet with Purpled), and Kristin(1). Finally there's a playlist with any songs that don't have a distinct singular "voice" with 49 songs.

I prided (and still pride) myself on watching most everyone's lore- a noticeable gap in this knowledge, however, is the eggpire. I've done my best to catch up with it and read analyses and recaps on it but it's one of those things I didn't watch most the streams for, something that forever stains my record.

My favorite characters in no particular order are: c!Sam, c!Quackity, c!Niki, c!Tommy, c!Wilbur, and c!Tubbo based on total brainrot time (though I absolutely adore - and brainrot over - nearly every character). I find c!Jack to be the best written and acted character of the series overall.

(Note: while editing this I’m about a month in to a surge of interest in c!Hannah which makes me tempted to put her up there. I will if this ends up longstanding, for now she’ll just sit here)

Other than that I may start randomly talking about other characters/shows on one or two off posts. I was a firm c!Tommy main for the majority of my time on tumblr which likely shaped me and while I still adore him, I don’t spend as much time talking about him, instead ranting about other characters. And finally, I am currently hyperfixated on Cellbit and have been for the last year.

brandon sanderson is actually just built different. once on a podcast with patrick rothfuss they were talking about tools to write better and he said "i try to limit myself to 8 hours of writing per day." he took time off of writing during the first year of covid and accidentally wrote four unplanned books. he teaches a class at byu. his wife has a codeword to get him to stop writing in his head because at any given moment you might think he's doing something normal but no he's also writing another novel. stephen king said he's insane

there will never be anything as funny as the mutual disbelief between long form and short form fic writers about each other's style.

short form writers look at people writing 100k+ fics as though this is some sort of talent given as part of a fae bargain, that the commitment required shows some sort of ungodly mental fortitude.

meanwhile long form writers look at people writing 1000 word one shots like god I would cut off my left nipple to be able to say anything concisely. i would love to play with multiple ideas. free me from the shackles of this child I have birthed. i love them but I now must take them to t-ball and doctor's appointments and they're going to destroy everything I own.
