Also adopt at least two kittens, okay? Kittens should never be raised singly, they always need feline sibs
What I hear you saying is the only ethical thing for me to do is adopt a box of kittens and do nothing but roll around in furry happiness and cuddles all day?

my mom’s argument against piracy is “well what if you wrote a book and one person bought it and then hundreds of people got to read it for free and you didn’t make any money!”

I hate U.S. History class, but I would love a class focused specifically on Native Americans.
There’s plenty of books out there that focuses on history, particularly when it comes to Native Americans and First Nations. There’s many just on the general history; but there’s also some that focus specifically on things like the history of people “going”/playing Indian as well as the history of Native American representations in media such as newspaper, film, television, photography, etc.
If you immediately want to read something there are specific sections of A People’s History of the United States:1492-Present, there’s also documentaries that are readily available online as well like: The Canary Effect, Black Indians, 500 Nations, Our Spirits Don’t Speak English, though technically First Nations (as it takes place in Canada) Kanehsatake: 270 Years of Resistance (The Oka Crisis), and there’s tons of other full length docs on youtube and google video as well.
other books recomended:
Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee
Newspaper Indian
Killing the Indian Maiden
A Little Matter of Genocide
Confounding the Color Line
Going Native: Indians int the American Imagination
500 Years of Indigenous Resistance
Our People, Our Land, Our Images
there’s shit loads of others as well.
Indian Country Today also has extensive reading lists on their sites.
Know that reading about the history of Native Americans is not a happy or carefree subject. You’re going to be reading about genocide, straight up. You’ll be learning about the continuing genocide to today as well…. with the effects of Boarding Schools, Indian Adoption Project, Forced Sterilization, Poverty, etc. You’ll also be learning about a lot of cool shit too… such as the American Indian Movement and what not.
If you need names of other books or media to check out, feel free to message me and I will gladly refer you to somethings.
