Knitting socks is so great because you finish one and you go, “Look! I have a sock!” It’s also so terrible because a chilling sensation runs through you immediately after, and you repeat, “I have a sock.”
Ah fuck. I have three socks.

boogie the night away
I have to be honest, if I was stuck on Voyager for seven years and suddenly made it home, there is no way in any hell I could be convinced to keep spending time with anyone from that tin can. Get away from me — I know too much about your weird phobias, sex dreams, and death wishes. It’s time to develop new co-dependencies with people who survived a war and who have a different brand of psychic trauma.
STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION | 2.09
i'm preaching to the choir here but i keep thinking about what a bullshit decision it was to not give Seven a proper uniform. it goes directly against s1!Janeway's "we're all in this together" attitude towards the Maquis members being integrated into Starfleet, and her ongoing consideration of the crew's sense of belonging and familiarity. and they didn't even bother inventing a borg reason or something for the skintight suit. girl.
Real explanation: the showrunners are fucking creeps
In-universe explanation: the EMH is a fucking creep
So, the in-universe recriminations should fall on the person who isn’t her commanding officer?
Setting aside any argument that fashion in that century had never precluded catsuits (e.g. Troi & eventually Kes) because it’s obvious male executives willed it to be so. Are we to assign all in-universe creepiness to a doctor who was not in charge of determining and maintaining proper uniform dress codes for the crew?
Was Kathryn Janeway so incapable of being a captain that she could not, in a single breath, order her CMO to design an outer covering to rest on top the suit if it was contextually creepy not to do so? Was she also not a fucking creep?
Janeway is a horny creep. Hope this helps

one of the worst feelings in fandom is when the canon version of a character is one of your favorites ever but their fanon interpretation is just something you want to dropkick into a dying star and watch it all go supernova hopefully from close enough that it will obliterate you and your memory of what the fandom did to them in the process
Strangely enough, when you drastically change the defining characteristics of a character, they are no longer that character.
okay I had forgotten about when tom first meets the emh and says 'but holograms are just a projection of light! there's no matter involved!'. and then the doctor slaps him hard in the face. top 5 doctor moments easily
I genuinely love how it immediately implies that the Doctor, literally a program created to perform medicine, has an ethical subroutine permissive enough to let him slap that bitch.
janeway has a i’m so mad i’m going to murder this guy kinda look don’t ya think💀🤣
Doc's despaired "Here we go again. Fantastic, now she's really mad" look is just as great 😂.
Because he knows, some reckless shit is going to follow.
That look when you realize there's about to be a medical emergency.
she's so scary she's so scary. if i were the doctor i would kill myself before stepping foot in that office
Her reign of appropriation continues unimpeded.
Get off that man's desk. That's the only thing in the entire universe that's his.
“Murder that freak” - my husband, when I was presented with the choice to either kill Tuvix or find a way to keep him and bring Tuvok and Neelix back while playing Voyager - Across the Unknown.
Kate Mulgrew as Janeway in Star Trek: Voyager (S4E09, 1997)
Janeway: Try it. And I'll shut down your program. Doctor: That threat in itself is evidence of your unstable condition. Janeway: I am sorry, doctor. I've been operating on instinct for so long I did not think before I spoke. I have no intention of deactivating you.
