Hey taters n' skaters! You can call me Tato and my pronouns are he/him and she/her!
This blog will be more for lurking and reblogging than for original posts, but if you want to see some random content that follows my hyperactive brain, feel free to stick around! I'm in lots of fandoms, but at the same time it feels like none at all, lmao.

Aight, that's it! If you think you like the vibes, feel free to stay!
given the current climate this pride especially i feel i must mention that i love my trans friends, i stand with trans people in the fight against transphobic legislation and those who would enforce it, and this blog is not a good place for you to be if you do not vibe with that
TADC spoilers below the cut. Essay about a ridiculous Jax take I saw.
Following the release of the finale of TADC, I’ve seen some pretty heinous takes about Jax (people calling her a murderer, a sexually abuser (where tf did that one come from??), etc), but there was one that perplexed me so much I have to write about: TADC is a "transpessimist" narrative because human Jax has not started transitioning when we see her. This take is wrong on so many levels and it really stuck with me so this short essay exists now. I will not be naming the user who posted it because I don’t want to point a finger at them and also because I saw the take while scrolling through the TADC tag and I didn’t make a note of who the user was.
First, we cannot be certain that Jax HASN’T started transitioning. I assume the person who made the initial argument is basing their statement on the following: Jax is still going by her birth name (and I’m assuming is using he/him pronouns since that’s what Pommni, who wasn’t treated to an “Isn’t She Lovely” montage, uses) and isn't presenting in a typically “feminine” way. Her appearance shouldn’t even be a point of discussion, plenty of out trans women have shaggy hair and wear dysphoria hoodies. As for her name, plenty of people go on hormones for a period of time before socially transitioning. The process by which a person transitions varies a lot between people, there’s no rule that you have to pick a new name first.
All of that said, even if Jax is still closeted, the take remains dogshit. It’s very clear to me that the poster is speaking from a place of privilege. Transitioning in America can be scary, difficult, and even dangerous (from a social perspective) on many levels. All of that is exacerbated by Jax being an unhoused (I think Pomni might’ve mentioned that she found housing, but regardless, she is still financially vulnerable) woman of color. Jax has also been shown to be very traumatized and deeply self-loathing. For a person with her background, I would honestly be surprised if her coming to terms with her gender was anything but a gradual process. I don’t think portraying what is a difficult reality for many transgender women makes this narrative pessimistic. On the contrary, I feel like Jax's irl story moved in a positive direction. We learn that she’s made friends with whom she hangs out at Zooble’s bar. That means she’s finding queer community, which I definitely read as her being close to making a breakthrough.
Anyway, I wrote this for fun, not for school, so I don’t have much of a conclusion. Bunny girls are cool. Love your trans sisters, even when they make mistakes.
"if Jax is a trans woman she's still an abuser so she's bad representation so the show is transphobic" you're an idiot. you want your blorbos to be perfect ideal angels, I want my blorbos to be realistic, nuanced, flawed human beings, we are not the same. I LIKE that she's messy and fucked up and problematic, I think it's a realistic depiction of how a lot of repressed and traumatized trans women are. I think the show goes to great lengths to explore how and why she is the way she is, and to evoke sympathy for this kind of person. it doesn't excuse her actions but it does make them understandable. and I think the fact women like that deserve sympathy is an idea worth stating and worth shouting. yes she's a bully and she hurt everyone around her and that may never change. she still deserves sympathy.
Digital circus' biggest problem is that it was written to be a niche show aimed at weird analytical queers with actual media literacy and it accidentally blew tf up and hit the mainstream and a bunch of people who have never had a second thought about anything got into it
best case scenario Digital Circus gets remembered in a similar way as Steven Universe: a show that was Really Fucking Good and had nuanced characters and interesting things to say, but the audience wasn't quite ready for it and it imploded into a discourse ball. four years from now I expect to see lesbians drawing Jax like she's a renaissance muse the same way people still draw Pearl or Lapis
i think we should be ridiculing them more for this. you don't get to try and go all "queer website" when your staff likes to go on nuking sprees targeting the trans fem users
