orion really needed to get it together. he had nearly gotten hit by a car. he was lucky he stopped, and that titan pulled him back. “ah…yeah, thanks. sorry.” he was worrying titan so much, he felt bad. at the same time though, he couldn’t just tell titan what was wrong. it was far too embarrassing, and would be confessing out of nowhere. he didn’t want to make things complicated between them. he didn’t want to ruin their relationship.

“i’ll try to be more careful…sorry.” he didn’t talk back at all. he had no room to do so. “i…do feel a bit out of it. but can we not talk about it?” he hoped titan wouldn’t press him on this. “i still want to go though…we never get to spend time like this. i want to do this…” he was being insistent on this, but he truly did want to be with titan. with how busy he could be, he wasn’t sure when an opportunity like this would arise again. he wanted to take advantage of this. 

                                    “ i - it’s okay. it’s fine, as long as you’re okay. ” titan took a breath. that really scared him. he spent so much time worrying about his brothers running out into traffic, after all. then his young adult friend did the exact image of his nightmares. well, at least he was safe. 

                                             he was really worried about what was on orion’s mind, though. he didn’t even want to open up to him about it ... titan didn’t want to push him, though. he’d probably just clam up more. maybe going out would help him. “ sorry, let’s just go -- ” and as he pulled away -- wait. as he pulled away, he realized he was clinging to orion like a lifeline. he had basically been embracing him, and ...  holding his hand. how long had he been holding his hand? was that what was bothering orion? he was too used to going out with just his brothers. his face was bright red. he let go of orion, giving him some space. no wonder orion was bothered by him ... “ -- i - i’m so sorry, i didn’t mean -- u - um, just follow me, we’re almost there! w - watch where you’re going this time ... ! ” titan could barely look him in the eyes, and walked ahead of orion, picking up his pace with his tail between his legs. there was no way orion would have wanted to be that close to him. he felt so embarrassed and guilty.

orion was beginning to calm down, then gasped at the hand on his forehead. “–!!” he really was hopeless. he had it so bad. he was acutely aware of his feelings for titan. for years now, he had been in love with him. he wished to be by his side, and was grateful for being with him like this. still, he often felt like titan was just out of his reach. 

he ended up missing whatever question titan had asked at first, only realizing he was still talking to him when he pulled his hand away from his forehead. “…huh? oh, yes. i’m alright.” he wished he wasn’t so obvious. he couldn’t possibly talk about this with titan. it would only make things complicated. he knew titan felt strongly about him as well–he remembered their conversation on the academy rooftop, but that didn’t mean he had the same kinds of feelings toward him. “everything is fine, titan.” he started to walk, only to quickly stop in front of a crosswalk when a car zoomed by in front of him. he hadn’t checked if it was safe to walk across first. “ah…”

                                      titan was going to let it drop and change the subject, but didn’t get the chance to before orion walked out to the crosswalk without checking. “ ah, wait, orion- ” he started, but it was too late. a car was about to hit them both. titan acted on instinct, grabbing orion’s middle and pushing him back to the sidewalk.

                                               “ orion-!! are you alright?! ” his hand was gripped tightly to orion’s and he was still holding onto him. he wasn’t aware of it, but he didn’t want to let go. orion had almost gotten hit by a car ... if titan had been a few seconds slower ... “ orion ... ” he breathed out his name again. that was terrifying. it was the same fear he had when balt and nickel ran out into the road. “ i’m always going to look out for you, but, please watch where you’re going ... ” he was nagging orion a lot, but, he couldn’t help repeating, “ are you absolutely sure you’re okay? you’ve been out of it since we left ... ”

“y-yeah…” orion answered without thinking once more. however, after a few momnents, he actually processed what titan had said and he shook his head. “–i mean, i’m fine. no need to worry, titan.” it was embarrassing to so easily lose his composure over simply holding hands with someone. 

but titan wasn’t just anyone. he was special, he was perfection in orion’s eyes, someone he wanted to stand beside. someone whose attention he constantly sought attention from. titan was unlike anyone else. “were you saying something before? perhaps i am feeling a bit…out of sorts, so was not listening. sorry.” he hoped titan hadn’t been talking this entire time. “also, are we close to this ‘wcdonalds’?”

                                   orion seemed off. he was fine just a few moments ago. he wondered what he said that bothered him. orion wouldn’t admit what it was, though. maybe orion was sick and hiding it? his siblings would do things like that when they really wanted to go somewhere ... titan put his free hand on orion’s forehead to check his temperature. “ you don’t feel warm ... ” he mumbled to himself.

                                           “ out of sorts? is there something on your mind? ” titan was concerned about orion. there was something different about him within the last few minutes. he couldn’t figure out what he did wrong at all. maybe there was something going on at home? he hadn’t ever said anything to that effect, though... “ -- ah, yeah, it’s right there, ” titan pointed a block away, to where the ‘ W ’ sign stood. “ are you sure you’re okay to go? ”

“ah, yeah.” orion wouldn’t press him to say the truth. he wished he could help titan more. rather, he wished titan allowed him to help. countless times, he had tried to give him money, only for him to refuse it. then, titan had made him promise not to give him any “charity”. it made this far harder. he helped him and his brothers out in small ways when he could, whenever titan allowed it. he did everything he could. he wanted titan and his family to have an easier life. 

he was pulled out of his thoughts when he felt titan grab his hand. his heart jumped and he blushed even more. he hadn’t expected this. titan was holding his hand. titan was holding his hand. it was warm. he felt like he short-circuited, and he was only able to focus on this. “y…yeah.” he hadn’t even processed what titan had said.

                                   he took a few steps further. it was more crowded here than it was at his place. there was more to do around here, after all. he hoped the wcdonald’s wouldn’t be too busy. he was getting hungry, and he wanted to save happy meals for the kids. but if he complained about that to orion, orion would do something uncalled for like buying out the whole line, or just getting a wcdonald’s of his own ...

                                   speaking of orion ... titan tilted his head, noticing orion had stopped suddenly. he’d gotten quiet, too. did he say something wrong? he couldn’t remember saying anything out of the ordinary. yet orion’s face was bright red and he was frozen in place. “ are you okay? are you feeling sick? you’re quiet all of a sudden. ”

orion felt his cheeks heat up the compliment. even though he had dressed up to impress titan, he hadn’t thought he would actually say such a thing. titan thought he was handsome. “y-you think so?” he felt a bit bashful, and tucked some hair behind his ear. “you do as well, titan.” even if he was wearing the same outfit that he always did, he looked stunning. he always had. it was a sight orion would never grow tired of. 

“while i am still unaware of where we are going, i trust your judgement. also, we don’t get to spend time outside of band activities…” orion often invited him to things, but titan tended to be busy with one of his many jobs. sometimes, orion wondered if he pestered him too much. “i would like to do this. you invited me, after all.” 

                                  “ really? ” titan brushed himself off a bit. orion definitely outshined him in terms of appearance. he felt insecure under scrutiny like this, even though orion was just complimenting him. orion complimented titan a lot, but it was hard to believe for things like this. he didn’t have enough money anymore for tidying up his appearance much. he could only hope keeping up his hygiene would be enough.

                                           “ yeah ... i don’t mean to reject you all the time, it’s just w-- i mean, songwriting ... ” titan mumbled. he was pretty sure orion knew it was work that kept him busy, but he was embarrassed to say it a lot in front of arcareafact. they didn’t have to worry about things like that. at orion’s reassurance, titan took his hand to lead him outside of the house and to the wcdonald’s. the action was automatic; he always held balt and nickel’s hands when they went out. “ make sure to look both ways when you cross the street. ”

orion wondered just what titan was referring to. fast food…what a curious thing. well, he supposed he would have his answer soon. he let his butlers know to let titan in when he arrived, then went back to his room. as he waited, he was hit with a realization. would this be considered a date? titan was taking him out, after all. but was it really like that? well, he should play it safe. he had to wear something different. he picked out an equally expensive outfit to the one he normally wore, adding small golden hoop earrings as well. would titan think he looked nice? he hoped so. 

at the front door, one of orion’s many butlers answered and stepped aside so titan could walk in. “yes, i’ve been informed, titan-sama. orion-sama will be down shortly. i will let him know you’re here.” after bowing, the butler walked off to orion’s room, knocking on it and informing him that his friend had arrived. orion had been staring at himself in the mirror, but shot up when he heard the message. he quickly exited his room and made his way to the entrance. “hello, titan! i’m ready to go to this mysterious ‘fast food’ location.” 

                                      when orion walked out, titan gasped. a hand went up to cover his mouth. there was no way orion hadn’t noticed that. orion’s outfit -- well, it was expensive, which was to be expected of orion -- he looked handsome. titan felt o underdressed. he didn’t have any other outfits, aside from what he was given to wear for concerts ( and those were only for concerts ). he looked down at himself, embarrassed, then looked back at orion. the earrings really suited him. 

                                              “ orion ... you look so ... handsome- ” his hand fell from his mouth so he could speak, revealing titan’s even deeper blush. it was hard to say something like that to orion. he wasn’t sure why. “ um ... are you sure you want to go? ” titan and wcdonald’s both were way too little for orion.

[msg]: If we must walk, I’ll concede. But fast food? What is fast food? I have no idea what you’re talking about. However, I trust you, so I will accompany you there.

[msg]: Fast food is...well, you’ll see. It’s nothing to be afraid of...I’ll see you soon.

                                      titan was excited to go out somewhere after a while of just doing work, so he had started walking while texting orion. he was almost to orion’s house already. as soon as he got there, he knocked on the door, only to be greeted by one of orion’s butlers.

                                        “ ah, no... it’s not band practice. i’m here for orion, though... ” did he really only ever visit the others for practice? in hindsight, he supposed he had... he was really busy, after all.

[msg]: No private jet? Would you prefer a limo then? And what is Wcdonalds? I’ve never heard of such a thing.

[msg]: We can just walk...Wcdonalds is a fast food place. It’s not far from where you are, actually. I can come get you and we can go together.

[msg]: It’s nothing, really…we just haven’t been able to do anything because of my work. Do you want to meet up somewhere?

[msg]: Of course. I could meet you at whatever location you’re at right now. I’ll have Jii prepare my private jet, and we can go wherever you please.

[msg]: Private jet?! We don’t need anything like that...I was just thinking about going to Wcdonalds or something...
